活动一:感知与注意
1. Ask students to replace the underlined parts with words of similar meanings from the reading text.(Activity 1)

【易混辨析】
wage一般指按小时、日长、星期发的工资,领取工资者通常是体力劳动者;
salary通常指非体力劳动者所获得的工资、薪金,特别是那些具有较高技能和管理
职位的人,有固定的薪水;
income一般指收入的总和,比如年度收入等;
payment指的是支付、付款,也指款额、款项,如购房首付款可以说down payment,
现金支付可以说cash payment。
3. Ask each student to write his or her own sentences using the words from the activities.After they have finished, ask students to exchange their paper with a partner, and then have them check cach other's work, making corrections if necessary.

活动四:推理与论证
1. Ask students to read the dialogue about "Satisfaction Guaranteed" between two senior high school students, and then have them fill in the blanks. The first letter of each word is given.
A: Personally, I think Tony is really a b . I'd love a robot like Tony living at my house.
B: You did? Tony was just a machine. Yes, maybe Claire fell in love with him because of his i and d ,but I don't believe robots can feel emotions of any kind. That's the difference between them and us.
A: Well, I disagree. I think Tony loved Claire. Remember how he helpedher when he knew what the rude s did to her and when she fell off the ladder.
B: Yes, but that was just part of Tony's role. The Three Laws! He could not allow a human being to be hurt physically or emotionally. So he watched her when she was working on the s light,ord that he didn't want to leave her. That was how he was made!
A: Yes, such a shame, really! I suppose that was the company's greatest mistake.They made the robot look so much like a real man, so it caused confusing emotions like g or love towards it. If these robots come to the market,I think only people with big s can afford one.

Ask students to work in groups and write a short passage about 60 words according to the text they have learnt.
Suggested answer:
Larry got his wife Claire to test out a robot whose name was Tony. As Larry was away from homne, Claire found it embarrassed to be with the man-like robot.Tony, the robot, took good care of his hostess and transformed her house. He also managed to get Claire out of her trouble with a saleswoman. When Claire dismissed Tony, he declared that he was in love with Claire.
