You scan a QR code(扫二维码) to order a meal, but it asks for your phone number. You book a taxi online, and you need to fill in your address. You go back home and are asked to show the camera your face. Data collection is everywhere.
However, some companies collect personal information for selling or telecommunication fraud (电信诈骗). They break the law. Researchers did a survey of 5,458 people on personal information leak (泄露) in 2021. About 85 percent of people said they had experienced leaks from their smartphones. The Personal Information Protection Law has come into effect in China to deal with such problems. It is the first law on personal data protection. The law says that a person’s name, date of birth, ID number, address and phone number are all personal information. The information can be in electronic or other forms. Some kinds of personal information are regarded as “sensitive” (敏感的). They include fingerprints, faces, medical health, financial accounts (金融账户) and so on.

Standards Needed for Pre-Made Food
At the beginning of his term, an elementary school in Jiangxi Province announced a decision. It would no longer prepare meals in its own canteen. Instead, it would serve its students pre-made food.
