2. How tall were he and his favorite player?
3. What team was he on?

5. What kind of player was he on the team?
Ok, time is up. Have you finished? Let’s check the answer.
Prediction
Predict what happens next.
Reread the last paragraph of Part 1 and predict what might happen next in the story.
From the last Para, the first line, we know that The Lions were playing our main competitors, The Bears, a team whose record this season had been perfect. They hadn’t lost a single game. That means, they met a strong opponent, and the competition would be fierce.
According to the last sentence, Paul didn’t know he’d soon get the chance that he’d been waiting for.
We can guess maybe Paul would get the chance to play on the court, not just sitting on the bench and being a replacement player.
Then read Part 2 as fast as you can to find out if your ideas are correct.
a. One player got hurt and could not play.
b. Paul jumped and rushed onto the court.
c. “Give him a shot, coach!”
d. The team had won by 2 points.
e. “Let me try, coach! I won’t let you down!”

Listen and order
By reading the story, we can know the correct order.
Here’re the events.
a. One player got hurt and could not play.
b. Paul jumped and rushed onto the court.
c. “Give him a shot, coach!”
d. The team had won by 2 points.
e. “Let me try, coach! I won’t let you down!”
By reading the story, we can know the whole process of the story. We can see it clearly---there is a line that the author organizes the story. Could you tell me how the author organizes the events of the story? Yes, according to the time order. Let’s see the correct order. No. 1 is a. One player got hurt and could not play. In the beginning, the first para, we can see the sentences, “Suddenly, a player and I crashed into each other Pain raced through my body. My knee hurt badly. ” So this is the evidence of a---one player got hurt.
No.2 is c. “Give him a shot, coach!” In line six, “What about Paul?” someone suggested Paul playing, and in line ninth, “give him a shot, coach”, these are the evidence of c.
No.3 is e. In line eleventh, we have the sentence, “Let me try, coach! I won’t let you down!”
No.4 is b. In line thirteenth, we can find the sentence “Paul jumped and rushed onto the court”.
The last one is d. In line seventeenth, we have the sentence “The team had won by 2 points”.
Usually, when we describe a story, we should also pay more attention to the time order. In the beginning, one player was hurt; later, Paul’s teammates suggested him playing, and Paul asked his coach to give him a chance; finally he was permitted to play on the court and helped the team win.

Adjective of attitude
positive
excited
satisfied
hopeful
proud
negative
doubtful
hesitant
unwilling disappointed
Usually, we have two types of attitude. One is positive, they are excited, satisfied, hopeful and proud. Another is negative, such as doubtful, hesitant, unwilling and disappointed.
If you are positive about things, you are hopeful and confident, and think of the good aspects of a situation rather than the bad ones.
If you are excited, you are so happy that you cannot relax, especially because you are thinking about something pleasant that is going to happen to you.
Here satisfied means pleased because you have achieved and got something. If you are satisfied with something, you are happy because you have got what you wanted or needed.
If you feel proud, you feel pleased about something good that you possess or have done, or about something good that a person close to you has done.
On the contrary, if someone is negative or has a negative attitude, they consider only the bad aspects of a situation, rather than the good ones.
If you are hesitant about doing something, you do not do it quickly or immediately, usually because you are uncertain, embarrassed, or worried.
If you are unwilling to do something, you do not want to do it and will not agree to do it.
If you are disappointed, you are rather sad because something has not happened or because something is not as good as you had hoped.
So much for the explanation of the important words, let’s continue.

用来引导定语从句的词称为关系代词有who,whom,whose,that,which等。
1.This is Joe who is a digital native.
2.Paul was a player who worked really hard, and had a strong
desire to play for the team.
Two of the students who I taught were admitted to the Peking University.

Do you know the person who is reading under the tree?

(whom在定语从句中做宾语,代替a student,可以由who或that代替)

She is a good listener with whom I enjoy sharing moments of my life.

当whose指代物时,whose可以用of which代替。
Please pass me the book of which the cover is red.

In front of the classroom, there was a playground which got dusty on windy days and muddy on rainy days.
He didn't pass the exam, which made his mother very angry.

Summary
We use relative clauses to identify the person or thing we are talking about.
We use these relative pronouns in relative clauses:
who, whom and that to talk about people
which and that to talk about things, place, etc
whose to talk about possession
3. We can omit(省略) the relative pronouns who, which, that in
relative clauses when it is the object(宾语) of the relative
clause, but not when it is the subject. P33-11
