Circumstances changed in 1933, when Hitler came to power in Germany. Einstein, who was Jewish, found the doors of academic institutions closed to him. As a consequence he had to flee Germany. After spending
time in Europe, he finally took up a position as a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, USA. Following that, he continued to make great achievements in physics and mathematics.

To the public, he was seen as a slightly odd-looking but kind and funny man. He had a thick moustache and long white hair, which sometimes stood on end as though he had just received an electric shock. Although he was a genius, he sometimes forgot things, like his friends birthdays. But despite his peculiarities, he was loved by his friends and neighbours. There is even a story about how he helped a little girl who knocked on his door and asked for help with her homework. In fact, Einstein often encountered people on the street who would stop him and ask him to help explain things. After many such occasions, he finally started saying, “Pardon me! Sorry! Always I am mistaken for Professor Einstein!”

When it comes to the person I admire most, I think of Yuanlongping, who is regarded as the father of hybrid rice.
Born in1930, Yuan Longping had a passion for swimming at an early age. After graduation, he committed himself to agricultural research in Hunan, breeding the hybrid rice successfully in 1975. Not only did he make numerous contributions to solving the problem of world hunger, but also inspired more people to join him. In 2019, he was awarded to the Medal of the Republic for his outstanding contributions to the hybrid rice breeding. On 22 May 2021, Yuan passed away, and our whole country mourned the great loss of a brilliant scientist.
The reason why I admire him is that his dedication to work and to people sets me an good example, which truly inspires me to become a person like him in the future.

My role model is Qian Xuesen, an outstanding scientist titled “the Father of China’s space program”.
Qian was born in December, 1911 and passed away in October, 2009. Having graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1934, he set out for Massachusetts Institute of Technology to pursue advanced study in 1935, and a year later California Institute of Technology, where he obtained two doctorates in 1939. Out of a strong love for his homeland, he was determined to go back to China. Though encountering many difficulties, eventually he made his return to China with great resolution in 1955. He devoted himself whole-heartedly to scientific research during his lifetime, making remarkable achievements in the Chinese aerospace industry.
Greatly inspired by his patriotism and self-sacrifice, I’m longing to make great contributions to our country as well.

The person I admire most is Tu Youyou, a committed and patient scientist.
Born in Ningbo in 1930, Tu Youyou graduated from Peking University. In 1967, she was chosen to join a team of scientists with the objective of discovering a new treatment for malaria. Her team examined many old medical texts, and evaluated lots of plants for their medical properties. From their research, they found a substance that worked. They even insisted on testing the medicine on themselves to make sure that it was safe. Finally the medicine, which was called artemisinin, soon became a standard treatment for malaria and saved thousands of lives. Tu Youyou’s work is so important that the Nobel Prize of 2015 was awarded to her. Tu Youyou, who is not interested in fame, said it was a team effort.
Tu Youyou is considered as a model for other people, inspiring more people to make great contributions to our country.
