B Climbing, I once thought, was a very manly activity, but as I found my way into this activity, I came to see that something quite different happens on the rock. Like wild swimming, rock climbing involves you into the landscape. On the rock, I am fully focused. Eyes pay close attention, ears are alert, and hands move across the surface. Unlike walking, where I could happily wander about absent-mindedly, in climbing, attentive observation is essential. As an arts student studying English literature, I discovered a new type of reading from outdoor climbing. Going out on to the crags (悬崖), I saw how you could learn to read the rocks and develop a vocabulary of physical movements. Good climbers knew how to adjust their bodies on to the stone. Watching them, I wanted to possess that skillful “language”. My progress happened when I worked for the Caingorms National Park Authority. Guiding my explorations into this strange new landscape was Nan Shepherd, a lady too. Unlike the goal-directed mindset of many mountaineers, she is not concerned with peaks or personal achievement. Shepherd sees the mountain as a total environment and she celebrates the Caingorms as a place alive with plants, rocks, animals and elements. Through her generous spirit and my own curiosity, I saw that rock climbing need not be a process of testing oneself against anything. Rather, the intensity of focus could develop a person into another way of being. Spending so much time in high and stony places has transformed my view on the world and our place in it. I have come into physical contact with processes that go way beyond the everyday. Working with gravity, geology (地质学), rhythms of weather and deep time, I gain an actual relationship with the earth. This bond lies at the heart of my passion for rock climbing. I return to the rocks, because this is where I feel in contact with our land. 4. Why does the author like rock climbing? A. It challenges her to compete with men. B. It allows her a unique attitude toward rock. C It teaches her how to possess a new language. D. It makes her feel connected wth the earth. 5. What does the writer find important in climbing? A. Balance. B. Concentration. C. Determination. D. Perseverance 6. What does the writer learn from Nan Shepherd? A. Climbing goes together with nature. B. Every mountain top is within reach. C. The best climber is the one having fun. D. You can not achieve high unless you change. 7. What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to? A. Time. B. Transformation. C. The world. D. My view. C There are two distinctive types of electric buses making their way along Nanjing Xi Lu, one of Shanghai’s busiest roads. The first is a fleet of blue trolleybuses that serve bus route number 20, a line set up by a British-run transport company in 1928. They use poles to receive electricity from wires overhead and have kept the route running in this way for nearly a century. But while the historic electric buses are a reminder of Europe’s past technological innovation, the new buses traveling alongside them are symbols of China’s contemporary net-zero ambition. These modern electric buses powered by lithium batteries (锂电池) , were introduced in Shanghai in 2014. They offer a smoother ride, especially during starts and stops. Widely used across China, these buses are key to the country’s EV transition and are influencing the global shift towards green transportation. The most recent data available shows that China in 2018 was still the second largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the global transport sector, responsible for 11%, and behind only the United States, which accounted for 21%. After around two decades of government support, China now boasts the world’s largest market for e-buses, making up more than 95% of global stock. At the end of 2022, China’s Ministry of Transport announced that more than three-quarters (77% or 542, 600) of all urban buses in the country were new energy vehicles. The speed of this transition was remarkable. So far, however, the Chinese cities with the most successful e-bus introduction — such as Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai — all have moderate weather and are relatively flat. To take its e-bus campaign to the next level, China faces challenges. For one thing, it is difficult to bring fleets to cities such as Hong Kong, which — like London — have double-deckers. These two-storeyed vehicles are “very hard” to electrify, because they are heavier, use more energy, and so need bigger batteries, reducing the number of passengers they can carry. Cold weather is a problem, too, as it can make a battery’s charging time longer and its range shorter. The reason China has not achieved 100% electrification for its buses is its northern regions, which have cold winters, says Xue Lulu, a transportation expert at the World Resources Institute China. 8. How does the author describe the two types of electric buses in the first paragraph? A. By contrasting their historical significance and technological advancements. B. By highlighting their roles in protecting the environment and lasting use. C. By focusing merely on their technical details and performance. D. By explaining their operational challenges and requirements. 9. What do the numbers in paragraph 2 mainly show? A. The global impact of carbon dioxide emissions. B. The progress of China in reducing CO2 emissions. C. The different emission levels of China and the USA. D. The need for more government support in e-bus market. 10. What factor contributes to the slow adoption of electric buses in China’s northern regions? A. Poor winter weather conditions. B. Lack of transportation experts. C. Short charging time of the battery. D. Heavier and bigger bus bodies. 11. Which column is the text most probably taken from? A. Worklife. B. Culture. C. Travel. D. Earth. D While scientists have many ideas, they are not certain why humans yawn(打哈欠). Still, there is one thing experts know—yawns seem to be contagious(传染)! Have you ever caught a yawn from someone else? Most people have. In fact, a person is six times more likely to yawn after seeing someone else do so. Experts have done many studies into why yawns seem to pass from person to person. As a result, they have a few theories(理论) for the reason behind it. One possible explanation has something to do with social mirroring, which is caused by mirror neurons(镜像神经元) in the brain. These mirror neurons help the brain notice useful behavior of others and then copy it. When one person sees another yawn, his mirror neurons observe the action and consider it to be beneficial. That may cause him to yawn, too. Another popular theory is that yawns are contagious because of social relationships. Being social creatures, humans form friendships, families and live together in groups. That’s why many people mirror others, such as smiling when another person smiles. Yawning may be just another example of this. In fact, research has shown that one is most likely to catch yawns from another person if the two share a social relationship. The answer could even be that yawns aren’t truly contagious at all. Instead, people yawn together simply because they’re in the same environment. Experts say many things may cause yawning, including temperature and time of day. Whatever the explanation is, experts do know that contagious yawns aren’t limited to humans. One study found that lions in South Africa also caught each other’s yawns. 12. What kind of behavior may be copied by mirror neurons? A. Important and attractive. B. Useful and beneficial. C. Hard to understand. D. Easy to copy. 13. Whose yawns are people most likely to catch according to Paragraph 4? A. Those who yawn a lot. B. Those who like smiling. C Those closely connected with them. D. Those sharing the same interest with them. 14. What might the author continue talking about in the following paragraph? A. Tips on how to avoid yawning in public. B. A real explanation for contagious yawning. C. Other examples of animals yawning together. D. Things that may cause yawning among humans. 15. Which of the following serves as the best title? A. Why yawns are contagious B. What causes people to yawn C. Who yawns more than others D. Why humans yawn now and then Choosing the Right Career You will be leaving this school and the unavoidable question many people will ask you is, “___16___” Some of you may have already decided on a career path, but many of you still don’t have a clue! I had my backpack prepared with water, food, and sunscreen. I was excited to spend some time in nature, away from the busy city. The forest was attractive, with towering trees that seemed to touch the sky and colorful wildflowers under my feet. I walked deeper into the woods, attracted by the pleasant sounds of birds. The path I followed was winding and narrow, but I paid little attention, carried away by the beauty. I started to notice that the trees around me looked unfamiliar. Soon I found myself lost. I realized that I had no idea which way to go. The sun was setting and I knew that I needed to find a way out before it got dark. I started walking, trying to remember which direction I had come from. But the forest was a maze (迷宫) of winding paths, and I soon found myself going in circles. Every tree looked the same, and every path seemed to lead nowhere. The sound of leaves made me jump. Was it a wild animal? My heart was racing and I tried to stay calm as I listened for other sounds. But there was only silence, broken now and then by the distant calls of birds. As the sun set, I fully understood the seriousness of my situation. There was no food or water left. I was completely alone, lost in a wilderness that could easily devour (吞噬) me. I walked nervously, tripping over things in my path, feeling frightened with a racing heartbeat. Hours passed, or maybe only minutes. C. It teaches her how to possess a new language. C. The world. D. My view. D 5. B 6. A 7. 根据文章最后一段“Working with gravity, geology, rhythms of weather and deep time, I gain an actual relationship with the earth. This bond lies at the heart of my passion for rock climbing. I return to the rocks, because this is where I feel in contact with our land.(与重力、地质、气候节奏及深远的时间长河合作,我与地球建立起一种实际的关系。这种纽带正是我对攀岩热情的核心所在。我回归岩石,因为在这里,我能感受到与我们脚下这片土地的联系)”可知,攀岩使她感到与大地相连。故选D项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段“On the rock, I am fully focused. Eyes pay close attention, ears are alert, and hands move across the surface. Unlike walking, where I could happily wander about absent-mindedly, in climbing, attentive observation is essential.(在岩石之上,我全神贯注。眼睛密切注视,耳朵警觉倾听,双手在表面游走。与行走时可以心不在焉地悠然漫步不同,攀岩时,专注观察至关重要)”可知,作者发现攀岩时专注很重要。故选B项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第四段“Shepherd sees the mountain as a total environment and she celebrates the Caingorms as a place alive with plants, rocks, animals and elements.(Shepherd将山视为一个完整的环境,并且她赞美凯恩戈姆山是一个充满植物、岩石、动物和自然元素的地方)”可知,作者从Shepherd身上学到攀登与大自然融为一体。故选A项。 根据划线词所在句子“Spending so much time in high and stony places has transformed my view on the world and our place in it.(在高处多石地方呆了这么长时间,改变了我对世界和我们在其中的地位的看法)”可知,此处指作者通过爬山改变了对世界和自身在世界中的地位的看法,it指代前文的“世界”。故选C项。 C There are two distinctive types of electric buses making their way along Nanjing Xi Lu, one of Shanghai’s busiest roads. The most recent data available shows that China in 2018 was still the second largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the global transport sector responsible for 11%, and behind only the United States, which accounted for 21%. A. Worklife. B. Culture. C. Travel. D. Earth. A 9. B 10. A 11. 根据第一段内容“There are two distinctive types of electric buses making their way along Nanjing Xi Lu, one of Shanghai’s busiest roads. The first is a fleet of blue trolleybuses that serve bus route number 20, a line set up by a British-run transport company in 1928. They use poles to receive electricity from wires overhead and have kept the route running in this way for nearly a century. Widely used across China, these buses are key to the country’s EV transition and are influencing the global shift towards green transportation.(南京西路是上海最繁忙的道路之一,有两种不同类型的电动公交车在南京西路行驶。 根据第二段内容“The most recent data available shows that China in 2018 was still the second largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the global transport sector, responsible for 11%, and behind only the United States, which accounted for 21%. After around two decades of government support, China now boasts the world’s largest market for e-buses, making up more than 95% of global stock. The speed of this transition was remarkable.(最新数据显示,2018年,中国仍是全球交通运输部门二氧化碳排放的第二大来源,占11%,仅次于美国的21%。 根据最后一段的“The reason China has not achieved 100% electrification for its buses is its northern regions, which have cold winters, says Xue Lulu, a transportation expert at the World Resources Institute China.(世界资源研究所(World Resources Institute China)交通专家薛璐璐说,中国没有实现公交车100%电动化的原因是北方地区冬季寒冷。)” 故选A。 根据第一段的“There are two distinctive types of electric buses making their way along Nanjing Xi Lu, one of Shanghai’s busiest roads.( 南京西路是上海最繁忙的道路之一,有两种不同类型的电动公交车在南京西路行驶。)”和“Widely used across China, these buses are key to the country’s EV transition and are influencing the global shift towards green transportation.( 这些公交车在中国广泛使用,是中国电动汽车转型的关键,并正在影响全球向绿色交通的转变。)”最后一段的“So far, however, the Chinese cities with the most successful e-bus introduction — such as Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai — all have moderate weather and are relatively flat. To take its e-bus campaign to the next level, China faces challenges.( 然而,到目前为止,引进电动公交车最成功的中国城市——如深圳、北京和上海——都是气候温和、地势相对平坦的城市。要让电动公交车运动更上一层台阶,中国面临着挑战。)”可知,本文主要讲述了中国电动公交车的现状。应属于travel栏目。故选C。 D While scientists have many ideas, they are not certain why humans yawn(打哈欠). C. Those closely connected with them. Why humans yawn now and then 【答案】12. B 13. C 14. C 15. 根据文章第三段“One possible explanation has something to do with social mirroring, which is caused by mirror neurons in the brain. These mirror neurons help the brain notice useful behavior of others and then copy it. When one person sees another yawn, his mirror neurons observe the action and consider it to be beneficial. That may cause him to yawn, too.(一种可能的解释与社交镜像有关,社交镜像是由大脑中的镜像神经元引起的。这些镜像神经元帮助大脑注意到他人的有用行为,然后复制它。当一个人看到另一个人打哈欠时,他的镜像神经元会观察到这个动作,并认为这是有益的。这也可能导致他打哈欠)”可知,镜像神经元可以复制有用和有益的行为。故选B项。 【13题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第四段“Another popular theory is that yawns are contagious because of social relationships. Being social creatures, humans form friendships, families and live together in groups. That’s why many people mirror others, such as smiling when another person smiles. Yawning may be just another example of this. In fact, research has shown that one is most likely to catch yawns from another person if the two share a social relationship.(另一个流行的理论是,打哈欠会因为社会关系而传染。作为社会生物,人类建立友谊、家庭,并以群体的形式生活在一起。这就是为什么很多人都会模仿别人,比如当别人微笑时微笑。打哈欠可能只是另一个例子。事实上,研究表明,如果一个人和另一个人有着共同的社会关系,那么他们最有可能被对方打哈欠)”可知,人们最容易被那些与他们关系密切的人的哈欠传染。故选C项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Experts say many things may cause yawning, including temperature and time of day. Whatever the explanation is, experts do know that contagious yawns aren’t limited to humans. One study found that lions in South Africa also caught each other’s yawns.(专家表示,许多因素可能会导致打哈欠,包括温度和一天中的时间。无论解释是什么,专家们都知道传染性哈欠并不局限于人类。一项研究发现,南非的狮子也会互相打哈欠)”可推知,在接下来的段落中,作者可能会继续谈论其他动物一起打哈欠的例子。故选C项。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。结合全文及文章第一段“While scientists have many ideas, they are not certain why humans yawn. Still, there is one thing experts know—yawns seem to be contagious!(虽然科学家们有很多想法,但他们不确定人类为什么会打哈欠。尽管如此,专家们还是知道一件事——打哈欠似乎会传染!)”可知,文章主要介绍了一些关于打哈欠会传染的理论,故A项“为什么打哈欠会传染”适合作为文章的标题。故选A项。 Choosing the Right Career You will be leaving this school and the unavoidable question many people will ask you is, “___16___” Some of you may have already decided on a career path, but many of you still don’t have a clue! These jobs are not easily replaced by machines or technology. So think carefully about this before you choose your professional path. Second, choose a career that interests you. Some people might think this is unimportant, but if you are truly passionate about your job then going to work every day won’t seem a chore. ___18___ Before making a choice, you should examine your values, skills and personality type. This can help you decide if a career path is a good fit for you. Third, of course you will want to consider your chosen profession’s earning power. Although high pay plays a part, you should know that a job with a big salary will likely require more time to get to the top, much more effort and a higher level of stress. ___19___ If you have interests outside of work, or are struggling with other demands in your life, you might want to choose a less demanding line of work. ___20___ Let me leave you with an old saying: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” A. You are on the right track. B. So, what do you want to be? C. Will it be in demand in 20 years’ time? D. It’s also likely that you will stay and grow in this career. E. They simply want you to be the best of the best to your best ability. F. Only the truly motivated will likely to be able to meet these challenges. G. Thinking about a life-long career at this stage in your life is surely disturbing. 16. B 17. C 18. D 19. F 20. Time had lost all meaning in this place. But then, as I was about to give up hope, I saw a weak light in the distance. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The house s owner welcomed me inside. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: But then, as I was about to give up hope, I saw a weak light in the distance. As I came closer, the light grew brighter. It was coming from a small area in the forest. In the center stood a tiny wooden house, its windows shining warmly in the darkness. With a feeling of hope, I ran towards the house and knocked on the door. A man opened it, with his face filled with worry. “Are you lost?” he asked. I nodded, too tired to speak. The house’s owner welcomed me inside. I sat down on a chair and the man offered me food and water. We talked for hours about his life in the forest. His eyes told me that he had found peace in that wilderness. He kindly allowed me to stay overnight at his house. As the sun rose above the treetops, I knew that it was time to leave. The man offered to guide me out of the forest. From then on, we became friends. I learned something valuable from my journey that sometimes when we are lost, we find unexpected treasures. 词汇激活 行为类 提供:offer/provide 谈话:talk/chat 允许:allow/permit 指导:guide/direct 情绪类 ①担心:worry/concern ②意想不到的:unexpected/ uncontemplated 【点睛】【高分句型1】As I came closer, the light grew brighter.( 运用了As引导的时间状语从句) 【高分句型2】A man opened it, with his face filled with worry.( 运用了with复合结构) 【高分句型3】His eyes told me that he had found peace in that wilderness.(运用了that引导的宾语从句) 听力ABCBB CACCA BACBB CACAB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
