With its beautiful art, the cartoon movie Chang An takes us back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The stories of Li Bai and Gao Shi come to life before our eyes.
In the movie, Li is a poetry genius (诗歌天才). Gao is a common man. Gao stammers (口吃) when he is young. He also has problems with reading. When he sees words, there seem to be a group of tadpoles swimming around on the paper.
However, even so, I still like Gao. A girl named Pei Shier wins a fight over him. This makes Gao see that he needed to work harder on his skills. He doesn’t make it to the military examination (武考). Then he chooses to read the classics and poems again to get ready for the imperial examination, or keju.
It shows us that Gao always takes a positive attitude (积极的态度) to different problems. And it also turns out that luck likes those who work hard. In the end, Gao becomes a great military leader and leads his team to win a big fight. From a young boy to an old, Gao walks a long way between reality and dreams in his lifetime.
Geniuses such as Li Bai are too few The hard-working Gao Shi is the common people’s example to follow.

The Marches were a happy family. Poverty, hard work, and even the fact that Father March was away with the Union armies could not down the spirits of Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy, and Merimee.
The March sisters tried to be good but had their share of faults. Pretty Meg was often displeased with the schoolchildren she taught; boyish Jo was easy to become angry; golden-haired schoolgirl Amy liked to show up; but Beth, who kept the house, was loving and gentle always.
The happy days passed and darkness came when a telegram arrived for Mrs. March. “Your husband is very ill,” it said, “come at once.” The girls tried to be brave when their mother left for the front. They waited and prayed. Little Beth got scarlet fever (猩红热) when she was taking care of a sick neighbor. She became very ill but began to recover by the time Merimee was back. When Father came home from the front and at that joyful Christmas dinner they were once more all together.
Three years later the March girls had grown into young womanhood. Meg became Mrs. Brooke, and after a few family troubles got used to her new state happily. Jo had found pleasure in her literary efforts. Amy had grown into a young lady with a talent for design and an even greater one for society. But Beth had never fully regained her health, and her family watched her with love and anxiety.
Amy was asked to go and stay in Europe with a relative of the Marches’. Jo went to New York and became successful in her writing and had the satisfaction of seeing her work published there. But at home the bitterest blow was yet to fall. Beth had known for some time that she couldn’t live much longer to be with her family, and in the springtime she died.
News came from Europe that Amy and Laurie, the grandson of a wealthy neighbor, had planned to be married soon. Now Jo became ever more successful in her writing and got married to Professor Bhaer, and soon afterwards founded a school for boys.
And so the little women had grown up and lived happily with their children, enjoying the harvest of love and goodness that they had devoted all their lives to.
32. The members of the March family were Father March, Mrs. March and their ________.
A four daughters B. five daughters
C. son and four daughters D. son and five daughters
33. Who was the most successful in career (事业) among the March girls?
A. Jo. B. Beth. C. Amy. D. Meg.
34. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. The March Family. B. The March Parents.
C. The March Girls. D. The March Relatives.
35. It can be inferred from the passage that the March family had ________.

Not all teenagers do well at school, but why is that? Those students think the schooling has nothing to do with their lives, such as the kind of work they will do in the future.
How can teenage students become more engaged(参与)with their studies? Geoff Mulgan, social commentator and TED speaker, believes the solution(解决方法)is to make learning more relevant. He studied the way of people’s learning in schools around the world, from Australia to Paraguay. His research suggested that a new model of schooling was needed— a model that connects what students are learning to their own plans for their future. “What kind of school would have teenagers fighting to get in, not fighting to stay out?” wondered Mulgan. His answer is the one in which students can learn things by doing.
Mulgan helped create the Studio School, a system of publicly funded(资助)schools for 14-to 19-year olds in the U.K. Unlike traditional education, Studio Schools connect knowledge learning with practical training for future jobs. About 80 percent of the courses are done not through sitting in classrooms but through real-life, practical projects which include working at local businesses. Mulgan says that many teenagers “I learn best in teams, and they learn best by doing things for real.”
This different method is also improved by more personalized(个性化)instruction and support. Studio Schools are smaller than traditional schools — usually around 300 learners — to make sure that every student feels valued. Each student has a “personal coach” who helps him or her develop a plan to meet their learning goals. By having more clear goals, students become more confident of doing well at school. Reports have shown hopeful results. Many traditional school students who were not getting good grades improved greatly after they moved to a Studio School.
Mulgan says Studio Schools are based on a simple idea that turns education on its head. They think teamwork and practical projects are very important while learning. This simple idea is spreading. From just one school in 2010, Studio Schools had grown to more than 40 by 2014.
Engaging learners
___61___
Some students don’t do well at school and they aren’t engaged with their studies ___62___ they think their schooling isn’t connected with their future lives.
Solution
By researching ____63____ people around the world learn, Mulgan believes students need a new model of schooling. It should connect learning to their own ____64____ plans.
● Studio Schools, ___65___ from the traditional ones, make it possible to connect knowledge learning with practical training.
● Instead of sitting in classroom, students in Studio Schools finish most courses through practical projects, ____66____ working at local businesses.
● With around ____67____ learners, Studio Schools provide personal plans for students to meet their learning needs.
● Having clearer goals in mind, the confident students make great ___68___ in their schoolwork.
Results
● According to a simple idea that teamwork and practical projects really matter, Studio Schools had grown from only one in 2010 to ___69___ 40 by 2014.
● From the picture, we can see that students in Studio Schools always wear a _____70_____ face while studying there.

Recently, I’ve done a survey about whether students like to watch films at home or in the cinema. According to the survey, 64% of the students like to watch films at home and others prefer going to the cinema.
Personally speaking, watching films in the cinema is a better choice. To begin with, I can enjoy huge screens and also feel excellent sound in the cinema. Besides, it’s a good way to transport me to the film and it seems that I am just the characters in the film, which can always give me a wonderful watching experience. In addition, I can hang out with my friends and it’s really exciting. At the same time, watching films in the cinema offers me a great chance to develop friendship.
