It’s school time again! You’re probably feeling excited and maybe a little sad that summer is over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things: new teachers, new friends, and even a new school. Luckily, these “new” worries only stick around for a little while. Let’s find out more about going to a new school.
Most teachers kick off the new school year by year introducing themselves and talking about all the stuff you’ll be doing that year. Some teachers give students a chance to tell something about themselves to the rest of the class, too. When teachers do the talking on the first day, they often go over classroom rules and school rules, so you’ll know what’s allowed and what’s not. Please pay close attention.
You might already know a lot of people in your classes on the first day, but it’s a great day to make a new friend, so try to say hello to kids you know and new ones that you don’t. Make the first move and you’ll be glad you did, and so will have your new friends!
Seeing friends you haven’t seen for a while can make the first day a good one. You can make the day feel special by wearing clothes that you really like. Maybe you got a great T-shirt on one of your vacations, or a pair of sneakers(运动鞋). It also can make you feel good to be prepared and have all the things you need, such as pencils, folders, and whatever else you’ll be needing. But make sure that you pack them the night before in case you don’t have time in the morning.

Have you ever wanted to see your dreams after you woke up? Artificial intelligence (AI) technology may help you do this in the near future!
Researchers from Osaka University in Japan have trained an AI system to recreate images in people’s heads. The pictures AI has created include a teddy bear, an airplane and a clock tower. The technology is 80 percent accurate, reported Science magazine.
Previously there have been AI models that can turn a word or phrase into images. The AI has studied lots of images and their text descriptions. Over time, the AI can find patterns and recreate pictures if you first input text.
This time, the researchers took a step further. They trained the AI to link people’s brain scan data with images. They asked four people to look at 10, 000 different images, and let the AI find patterns of blood flow in the brain. Then the patterns can be related to the images.
If people looked at an airplane, the AI would use the brain scan data to create an image of a very cloudy airplane. Then, it would turn on the previous “text - to - image” model. By feeding the keyword “airplane”, the AI would improve the image and make it more real.
“It’s a new method that combines textual and visual information to ‘decipher the brain’”, Ariel Goldstein from Princeton University told Science magazine.
Researchers said the technology could someday help people with paralysis to communicate. It might also help scientists understand dreams or even how other animals see the world.
51.What do we know about the AI system mentioned in Paragraph 2?
A.It can help train people’s minds. B.It can fully present people’s dreams.
C.It was created for drawing people’s heads. D.It can recreate pictures in people’s heads.
52.How did the previous AI models turn phrases into images?
A.By understanding the meaning of the words.
B.By finding patterns in images and their text descriptions.
C.By drawing pictures according to users’ orders.
D.By finding different photos from the internet.
53.What is the working process of the new AI system?
A.relate with image→scan blood flow→improve the text→turn into the image
B.relate with image→turn into text→scan blood flow→improve the image
C.scan blood flow→relate with image→turn into text→improve the image
D.scan blood flow→turn into text→relate with image→improve the image
54.What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A.How to know the way animals see the world.
B.How people with paralysis talk with others.
C.What the new AI technology could be used for.
D.How AI technology affects people’s dreams,
55.Which part of a newspaper may this text appear?

Dr. Witt is the medical director for the newborn intensive care unit (重症监护室) at Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital. With the hospital staff’s help, Witt managed to evacuate all eight preemie babies (早产儿) into an ambulance that rushed them to a nearby hospital.
Even though Witt had done more than enough, he decided to follow the ambulance to make sure the babies made it to the hospital. “At one point, there was some live wire on the freeway,” Witt said.

A. I have no idea不知道;B.
I could travel with my family to Paris.
Sunday is the day when very few people go to work.
That’s the reason why he dislikes me.
Do you know a shop where I can find sandals?
This is the way how he spoke.
正:This is how he spoke. / This is the way (that, in which) he spoke.
Don’t forget the time (that) I’ve told you.
This is the house (that) he bought recently.
Please tell me the reason (that) you know.
A. supply供应;B. lecture讲座;C. attitude态度;D. fault错误。
“make sb.
A. as if仿佛,好像;B. so that以便,为了;C. in case以防,万一;D. even if即使。
7.A
故选A。
8.A
故选A。
9.B
A. under在…下;B. beyond超出;C. against反对;D. over在…
11.A
A.forget it得了吧;算了吧;没关系;B.my pleasure不用谢; C.help yourself随便; D.pardon me对不起,再说一遍。 故选A。
12.A
故选A。
13.C
A.in在……中;B.with和;C.about关于;D.of属于。be curious about是固定短语,意为“对……
A. In addition to除……之外; B. Thanks to幸亏,由于;C. In spite of尽管;D. According to根据。根据后文“the advances in technology, people can communlcate with each other only ”可知,由于技术的进步,人们可以在线交流。故选B。
16.D 17.C 18.A 19.B 20.C 21.A 22.C 23.C 24.D 25.C 26.B 27.A 28.D 29.B 30.D 31.A 32.B 33.D 34.B 35.A

61.Dear Tom,
I am more than delighted to hear from you. I’m writing to talk about my feelings after entering high school for two months in reply to your last letter.
At first, I found it a little difficult to get used to the senior school life. The subjects we are learning are obviously more difficult. Besides, with endless homework to do, we almost have no time for exercise and other activities. Fortunately, the teachers and classmates are all helpful and kind. It is with their help that I have overcome my fear and made great progress. So my advice to high school students is to be patient and have trust in your teachers and classmates, who won’t disappoint you.
