Jacopo showed a strong interest in art in his childhood. While studying at the University of Milan, Jacopo took a master’s course in graphic design and printing technology. Before coming to China, Jacopo knew almost nothing about it. With a strong curiosity about this country, Jacopo moved to Beijing in 2001. “I planned to spend two weeks knowing about China, but later I found the time was far from enough, and I’ve been here for more than 20 years until now,” Jacopo said. He created some paintings with traditional colors to show his love for traditional Chinese culture. The happiest time for Jacopo was after enjoying his artworks, some visitors who didn’t understand art began to show interest in it and realized art is part of their life. Having lived in China for more than two decades, Jacopo said he was amazed by the country’s rapid development. Now, he has put down roots in Beijing. “China and Italy have something in common — we both value family. I was born in Italy and live in China. China is now my home and I will continue to live and work here,” he said.

When Hurricane Gilbert struck her native Jamaica in her childhood, Morrison and her family were left without running water in their home for three months. Every day, they traveled to her grandfather's home near the business district where water had already been restored to collect what they needed for the day.
Watching her community recover from the hurricane taught Morrison a number of lessons she'd hang onto for the rest of her life:water is a critical resource and utility;people and organizations want to help after a disaster;and, because organization is difficult after such events, it's not always easy to determine what actions will help most.
Morrison, who received a master's degree in engineering science at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), has spent the last 14 years trying to create a bridge between organizations looking to make a difference. In 2010, she co-founded Do Good Jamaica, a non-profit organization that's undertaken a number of projects around early childhood development, climate and emotional recovery in Jamaica, and has provided a digital database that connects organizations looking to cooperate on other kinds of projects. “We have our own projects that we do, but we also help a lot of groups that have their own projects.”
Do Good Jamaica started with the pursuit of a world record. Morrison had just joined the Rotary Clubs of Kingston when she read about a Rotary Club in California that had recently set a Guinness World Record for the most books donated to charity in seven days. Knowing that there was a shortage of children's books at Jamaican libraries, Morrison went to her own club to break the record.
Morrison also contacted charitable organizations, set up corporate sponsorships from booksellers like Scholastic, and even sought private donations through her alumni network at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania. “That showed me the power of people working together on a single goal, ”she said.
24. Why does the author mention Morrison's childhood experience?
A. To illustrate her stubborn nature.
B. To introduce hardships she once suffered.
C. To reveal the source power for her future career.
D. To indicate a lack of efficiency of the local public service.
25. What can be learned about Do Good Jamaica?
A. It was independently set up by Morrison.
B. It started with the attempt to break a Guinness Record.
C. It mainly helps other groups with their voluntary projects.
D. It functions as a bond between organizations and the government.
26. What do Morrison's words mean in the last paragraph?
A. She has a team of high efficiency.
B. She stresses the importance of friendship.
C. She is proud of her good quality social network.
D. She received much help and support in her voluntary work
27. Which of the following words can best describe Morrison?
A. Responsible and devoted. B. Ambitious and loyal.
C. Honest and hardworking. D. Stubborn and idealistic.
【答案】24. C 25. B 26. D 27. A

根据第一段“When Hurricane Gilbert struck her native Jamaica in her childhood, Morrison and her family were left without running water in their home for three months.”(当飓风吉尔伯特在她的童年时期袭击她的故乡牙买加时,莫里森和她的家人在家中失去了三个月的自来水。)和第二段“Watching her community recover from the hurricane taught Morrison a number of lessons she'd hang onto for the rest of her life:water is a critical resource and utility;people and organizations want to help after a disaster;and, because organization is difficult after such events, it's not always easy to determine what actions will help most.”(观看她的社区从飓风中恢复,让莫里森得到了许多终生受用的教训:水是关键的资源和公用设施;人们和组织在灾后想要提供帮助;而且,由于在此类事件后组织工作困难,确定哪些行动最有帮助并不总是容易。)
根据文章倒数第二段“Do Good Jamaica started with the pursuit of a world record. Morrison had just joined the Rotary Clubs of Kingston when she read about a Rotary Club in California that had recently set a Guinness World Record for the most books donated to charity in seven days. Knowing that there was a shortage of children's books at Jamaican libraries, Morrison went to her own club to break the record.”(Do Good Jamaica的起源是追求一个世界纪录。 这直接导致了Do Good Jamaica的成立。因此,该组织是从尝试打破吉尼斯世界纪录开始的。故选B。
【26题详解】
推理判断题。最后一段“Morrison also contacted charitable organizations, set up corporate sponsorships from booksellers like Scholastic, and even sought private donations through her alumni network at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania. ‘ That showed me the power of people working together on a single goal,’ she said.”(莫里森还联系了慈善组织,与像Scholastic这样的书商建立了企业赞助关系,甚至通过她在哈佛大学和宾夕法尼亚大学的校友网络寻求私人捐款。“这让我看到了人们为了一个共同目标而团结合作的力量,”她说。)表明,她意识到了人们共同努力实现一个目标的力量。在尝试打破记录的过程中,她联系了慈善组织,获得了企业赞助,甚至通过校友网络寻求私人捐赠。这些都表明她在志愿工作中得到了很多帮助和支持。故选D项。
【27题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“In 2010, she co-founded Do Good Jamaica, a non-profit organization that's undertaken a number of projects around early childhood development, climate and emotional recovery in Jamaica, and has provided a digital database that connects organizations looking to cooperate on other kinds of projects.”(在2010年,她联合他人创立了Do Good Jamaica组织,这是一个非营利组织,开展了多项关于早期儿童发展、气候和情感恢复的项目,并提供了一个数字数据库,连接希望在其他项目上合作的组织。)可知, Morrison从童年经历中学到重要教训并将其应用于未来的工作中, 创立了Do Good Jamaica,具有强烈的社会责任感和奉献精神。故选A项。
C
Today, there are dozens of large language model (LLM) chat-bots (聊天机器人) aimed at mental health care — addressing everything from loneliness among seniors to anxiety and depression in teens. Apps like Wysa, Woebot, and Tess have millions of users.
But the effectiveness of these apps is unclear. Even more unclear is how well these apps work in supporting some specific, marginalized (边缘化的) groups.
A team of researchers from the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Emory University found that while large language models can offer fast, on-demand support, they frequently fail to grasp the specific challenges that many members of the community face. That failure could lead the chatbot to give at best unhelpful and at worst dangerous advice. The paper was presented at the ACM conference on Human Factors in Computing System in Honolulu.
The researchers interviewed 31 participants, roughly accounting for three-quarters of the tested people, about how the chatbots supported their individual needs. On one hand, some participants reported that the chatbots offered a safe space to explore and express their problems. But many of the participants also noted the programs’s hortfalls. One participant wrote, “I don’t think I remember any time that it gave me a solution. If I would tell it that I’m upset with someone, it will suggest maybe talking to that person.
“The boilerplate (公式化) nature of the chatbots’ responses highlights their failure to recognize the complex and specific experiences or situations, making the chatbots’ suggestions feel emotionally disengaged, ” said Ma, a co-first author of the paper. The chatbots also gave some participants bad advice — telling one person to quit his job, without considering his financial or personal consequences.
Ma stressed, “There are ways we could improve these limitations by fine tuning the LLMs for contexts relevant to the users of a specific community, or regularly updating feedback loops, but we wonder if this tendency to adopt technology at every aspect of social problem is the right approach,” said Ma. “There are aspects of mental health that cannot be solved with LLM chatbots — such as discrimination, bullying, or the lack of representation. For that, we need a complete support system.”
28. Why did the researchers conduct the study?
A. To prove the advancement of the apps.
B. To evaluate whether the apps are worth their prices.
C. To identify what challenges the marginalized groups face.
D. To find out how well the apps meet the needs of certain groups.
29. What does paragraph 3 mainly focus on about the study?
A. Its findings. B. Its process. C. Its participants. D. Its significance.
30. What do we know from the interview?
A. Many participants admitted the chat-bots are helpful.
B. Chat-bots tend to fail to identify complicated experiences.
C. Chat-bots sometimes mislead users on their financial decisions.
D. Altogether 31 persons participated in the test mentioned.
31. What does Ma think of using chat-bots to sovle social problems?
A. Some technological limitations can never be overcome.
B. A complete support system is needed other than technology.
C. They need updating to successfully tackle all social problems.
D. There exist moral concerns about using them to solve social issues.
【答案】28. D 29. A 30. B 31. B
【解析】

【29题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第三段“A team of researchers from the Harvard John A. 【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据倒数第二段““The boilerplate (公式化) nature of the chatbots’ responses highlights their failure to recognize the complex and specific experiences or situations, making the chatbots’ suggestions feel emotionally disengaged, ” said Ma, a co-first author of the paper.(论文的共同第一作者马说:“聊天机器人回应的公式化性质凸显了他们未能识别复杂和特定的经历或情况,使得聊天机器人的建议感觉情感上脱节。”)”可知,聊天机器人往往无法识别复杂的经历。故选B项。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“Ma stressed, “There are ways we could improve these limitations by fine tuning the LLMs for contexts relevant to the users of a specific community, or regularly updating feedback loops, but we wonder if this tendency to adopt technology at every aspect of social problem is the right approach, ” said Ma. “There are aspects of mental health that cannot be solved with LLM chatbots—such as discrimination, bullying, or the lack of representation. There are many ways to be healthy in the modern era due to the innovations in medicine and fitness. Working out, eating clean, and taking our vitamins and supplements are all great ways to be healthy. Healthy distancing is another way to remove toxins (毒素) from our minds and bodies.
A few years ago, the world came to a stop from a pandemic (大流行病), and the term social distance came about to be. Similarly, based on a common principle, we sometimes have to distance ourselves from what can be a mind virus that is more sophisticated than any known biological disease. It’s completely OK to give ourselves space from those who don’t mean well to us. Misery is infectious and weakens our immune system to become bitter.
Usually, due to our internal defense mechanisms and instinctual reactions, we are alerted if a situation or person is not suitable for our well-being in a positive, self-preserving manner. If a relative or a friend is being harmful in their actions, the proper way to handle the form of abuse is to separate ourselves from the situation.
Verify your self-worth in this world. Hang around more positive and productive people. We are the company we keep around. That is not an outdated saying. The company we keep close to reflects aspects of how we see ourselves. Our company reveals how far off or how close we are to the good andbad of this world.
Learn to be OK with alone time, but don’t overdo it. It’s easy to get lost in the dense forest of seclusion (隔绝;隐居). Alone time is needed, but so many mental illnesses can come from remaining attracted to and separated from people. Depression, anger problems, paranoia, and a laundry list of self-inflicted injuries from the addiction of idolizing ourselves alone.
Healthy distancing isn’t cutting someone off forever but making a mature decision to make sure our peace and happiness are solid. Healthy distancing maintains a balance of a stable mind, body, and spirit.
32. What is the function of paragraph 1?
A. To compare ways of keeping healthy.
B. To introduce the topic — social distancing.
C. To highlight the advancement of medicine.
D. To clarify the necessity of keeping minds healthy.
33. What does the underlined word “sophisticated” mean in paragraph 2?
A. Complicated. B. Sensitive. C. Intelligent. D. Delicate.
34. In what way does our company matter according to the text?
A. It contributes to or damages our career.
B. It keeps us away from mental illnesses.
C. It reveals how we get along with this world.
D. It mirrors how we see ourselves and the world.
35. What is the author’s attitude towards social distancing?
A. Doubtful. B. Opposed. C. Objective. D. Unclear.
【答案】32. B 33. A 34. D 35. C

Gratitude meditation simply means focusing on and acknowledging the things you are grateful for. ___37___ Therefore, it’s very easy to build a gratitude meditation practice.

At tea-making time every year in Kenya Boss Kende would personally monitor the process in the workshop. This year was no exception.
Boss Kende was an expert in tea-making and very fond of the flavor of tea. Seeing the green tea leaves drying, he felt like it was a grand and fascinating ceremony, as magical as the birth of a child. He was filled with joy when participating in this process, even feeling a little moved. After breakfast, Boss Kende went to the workshop. The familiar smell of tea leaves made him feel refreshed. The workers were busy working. All the tea leaves collected from the tea farmers yesterday were ready to be dried.
“Ah, there you are, Boss!” When the workers saw him coming, they immediately greeted him. “Hi, guys! How is everything with you?” With a smile, he approached the iron pot used for drying tea leaves to start working.
“Kende, this batch of tea is of very high quality, but it’s a pity the leaves were bitten by insects. I wonder whether the flavor will suffer because of it.” The man who was speaking was named Kipsang from the tea farm.
When the tea leaves were delivered to the workshop from the farm insects were clearly seen on the leaves. The son of Boss Kende proposed purchasing them at a lower price. When Kende learnt about this, he insisted his son still pay the originally agreed-to price. The villagers were very grateful, but felt a little indebted to Kende.
“Don’t worry! This batch of tea leaves will be made into black tea. When they’re ready, we’ll first taste them before putting them on the market. In the worst case, if it’s actually a loss, I can still afford it.” The boss comforted Kipsang as he worked. Boss Kende kept holding up tea leaves and then spread them out in the pot. The water in the leaves was gradually evaporating.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
Just then, a refreshing pleasant smell blossomed out. Boss Kende froze for a moment! When the tea was done, Boss Kende cleaned the teapot and cups, added some tea, and poured hot water in. Then he carefully poured some of the tea into two cups. The liquid was clear, with an amazing smell. “Son, come and have a taste!” Then, they both picked up the cups, and took a sip. “Terrific! The tea tasted nothing like any of the previous. But why?” The son looked at his father in astonishment. “I think it’s because the leaves were bitten by the insects,” Boss Kende’s voice trembled with excitement.
“Sometimes, what appears bad is not really bad,” Kende smiled after tasting the tea with his son. “A bad thing can turn good if dealt with well. Tea making is just like life; it mirrors how one should conduct oneself in the world. You should always stand with others when you think and act. You are bound to gain something valuable from it.” “Yes, father, I will keep that in mind.” The young man’s face turned slightly red and he was touched. The father and son drank tea together surrounded by the fragrance of tea all around them.

Morrison also contacted charitable organizations set up corporate sponsorships from booksellers like Scholastic, and even sought private donations through her alumni network at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania. “That showed me the power of people working together on a single goal, ”she said.
24. Why does the author mention Morrison's childhood experience?
A. To illustrate her stubborn nature.
B. To introduce hardships she once suffered.
C To reveal the source power for her future career.

D
A. Doubtful. B. Opposed. C. Objective. D. Unclear.

Chances are you’ve heard that meditation (冥想) is good for you. Most of us associate meditation with siting quietly in a dark room and clearing your mind for 20 minutes in perfect silence. ___36___
Gratitude meditation simply means focusing on and acknowledging the things you are grateful for. ___37___ Therefore, it’s very easy to build a gratitude meditation practice.
___38___ In fact, studies have shown that being mindfully grateful can actually rewire your brain to make you better able to deal with life’s challenges going forward. It promotes optimism and can calm you down when you are feeling anxious or stressed. By focusing on the people, places, things, and experiences that you are grateful for rather than what you don’t have or what you have lost, your day-to-day mood can improve, and your ability to see the good over the bad can be strengthened.
Sometimes, we can have a bit of a prejudice towards negativity. This keeps us alert (警觉的) to and safe from danger. ___39___ We can easily forget the positive things in our lives when we focus on what we have to do when things are bad.
The point of gratitude meditation, however, is not to forget or ignore the injustices or suffering in the world, nor is it meant to erase the problems you yourself are struggling with. Instead, it works to open our eyes to the larger systems at play in our lives. ___40___ Practicing gratitude meditation can get us “unstuck” from a place of self-absorption or anxiety by encouraging us to look at the bigger picture.
A. It can be done anywhere, at any time.
B. But gratitude meditation is very different.
C. A gratitude meditation can also be very specific.
D. However, this nature does not always mean a good thing to us.
E. It’s important to note that gratitude meditation is not a cure-all.
F. It helps us recognize our successes while acknowledging our challenges.

At tea-making time every year in Kenya, Boss Kende would personally monitor the process in the workshop.
When the tea leaves were delivered to the workshop from the farm, insects were clearly seen on the leaves.
