What do turtles, chickens and crocodiles have in common? Of course, they are all animals. If you know more, you might say they all lay eggs. However, do you know theyˈre all living relatives of dinosaurs (恐龙)?
Dinosaurs first appeared more than 240 million years ago. They ruled the Earth for over 160 million years. Some walked on two legs and ate meat. Some walked on four legs and ate plants. And others flew and ate fish and insects. Sadly, all the dinosaurs except the flying ones died out around 66 million years ago. So, our knowledge of them comes from under the ground. Scientists studied what they left behind after they died. These included their bones, teeth and more. Scientists have found them on all six continents (大陆).
The age of dinosaurs finally came to an end. Scientists wanted to know what caused it, so they looked into it. They studied and tested all the traces (遗迹) dinosaurs left on the Earth. They came up with several ideas. Scientists believe a large space rock hit the surface of the Earth. When it hit, it created very large waves and started fires everywhere. It also polluted the air and the ocean. That, in turn, changed the climate and made everything cooler.
The event killed dinosaurs and many kinds of plants. However, mammals (哺乳动物) were able to deal with the changes of the environment. They survived and grew in number. Although dinosaurs no longer live on the Earth, they still have a special place in many peopleˈs hearts.

However, I was a little bit shy before. My hobby has changed, too. I used to play computer games on weekends. But now I spend much time playing basketball with my friends.
