There are many reasons for visiting Rwanda. From breathtaking scenery to various cultures, it is full of hope and wonder. Here are some must-enjoy experiences for travelers.
Made-to-Order Fashion: Bighly colored cloth is shown at many stal (货摊) in the Kimironko Market in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. Choose one piece that speaks to you and a talented tailor (裁缝) can make you the clothes of your choosing in about an hour. You will find hills, bats, bird wings and rivers popular on the cloth- they are a celebration of the county’s natural landscape and wildlife.
Incredible Wildlife Encounters: From mountain gorillas in the north to chimpanzees in the south, Rwanda is home to some of Africa’s most fascinating animals. Local guides help travelers explore rainforests and mountain areas. The first purpose-built gorilla research and education center was completed here in 2021.
Meet the Artists: Beautiful murals (壁画) appear from the sides of buildings as travelers make their way through the towns of Rwanda, leaving little doubt that gifted artists call the country home. Local pottery, sculptures and paintings are only the beginning of the choices art lovers will be excited about. Don’t miss the local people who perform at community gatherings and professional dancers and musicians who tell the history of the country to travelers through dance and music.
Create Your Own Adventure: Even the most experienced adventure traveler will find challenges in the hills here. Horseback riding at Fazenda Sengha high above Kigali? Sure. A walk along a 70-metre high, 160-metre long Canopy Walkway in the wind above a natural rainforest? Just say when. Rwanda seems built for adventure and guests who bring their curiosity won’t leave disappointed.

There’s no doubt that football is the global sport. Though basketball, tennis, and other sports are popular too, nothing comes close to football. Being played in every country in the world, football provides dozens of superstars. The numbers are greater when compared to any other sport, and this drives the popularity of football up. Have you ever wondered when the sport started and became popular?
Football has its origin (起源) in China and has a history of more than 2,000 years. However, modern football originally appeared in Britain in the 19th century. Folk football matches had been played before in many cities and towns, but never on a professional level.
Football became a winter sport game played in different schools. The rules were carried out by each school, and this made it difficult for players to play an official game with each other. It all changed in 1849 at the University of Cambridge that invented a set of standard rules known as the Cambridge rules of football. From that moment, a new star sport was born.
By the early 20th century, football had spread all across Europe. In 1904, FIFA was set up. There are seven original members, including France, Denmark and Spain, FIFA became the governing body for many associations in Europe.
England’s international success improved the popularity of the sport in the country. The league (联赛) in Britain was set up in 1992. From the 1990s, it became a truly impressive piece of football organization, becoming the world’s top football league in the process.
Football is obviously the most popular sport in the world. It is impossible for any other sport to take its place, especially with leagues spending billions of pounds every year to stay in the focus.

Years of research show that when a native English speaker enters a conversation among nonnative speakers, understanding goes down.Communication specialist Heather Hansen tells us that's because the native speaker doesn't know how to do what nonnative speakers do naturally: speak in ways that are understandable to everyone, using simple words and expressions. They unconsciously use unnecessarily confusing vocabulary, which makes language less understandable.
Ting Gong grew up in Shanghai and moved to the U.S.in her 20s. She ran up against this problem of confusing vocabulary at the doctor's one day. "The receptionist(接待员)gave me a form and asked me to write down my complaints,”she said.“I told her that I did not have any complaint, and she looked impatient and then she asked me to write down anything that I could think of.”
“I only realized that‘complaints' here refers to symptoms I have after I spoke to my husband when I got home. At the doctor's I actually wrote down 'the receptionist was not friendly' as one of my complaints."
So what can we do to improve communication between native and nonnative English speakers?
Hansen says the responsibility shouldn't be on nonnative speakers but rather on native English speakers. Take a page out of nonnative speakers' book, says Hansen, by changing your English to be more inclusive. That means no more confusing expressions. Small changes like this might allow native speakers to join in conversations with nonnative speakers.
Joseph Issam Harb, who was raised in the United States and Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates, said,"I am still learning about English from nonnative speakers.
"In emails, I've discovered an expression commonly used by some nonnative speakers 'please do the needful,' "Harb said."For years I have been interested in this expression and its use in formal work environment emails." Discovering it and wondering about the origins of the expression, which means "please do what needs to be done,"has been an enjoyable thing for Harb.
32.What makes communication between native and nonnative speakers less smooth according to Hansen?
A.The speed of native speakers' talk.
B.Nonnative speakers' bad pronunciation.
C.The difference between speakers' cultures.
D.Native speakers' use of confusing expressions.
33.Why did Gong reply that she did not have any complaint?
A.She had difficulty expressing herself in English.
B.She wanted to get treatment as soon as possible.
C.She failed to understand what the receptionist had meant.
D.She feared that the receptionist would become impatient.
34.What does Hansen suggest native English speakers do?
A.Read books by nonnative English writers.
B.Join in more nonnative speakers' conversations.
C.Make no comment about nonnative speakers' English.
D.Use expressions understandable to nonnative speakers.
35.What did Harb say about nonnative English?
A.It is very interesting. B.It should be corrected.
C.It sounds strange and funny. D.It can be used in informal situations.

Learn How to Have a Learning Vacation
Going on a vacation to learn a skill you have long wanted to pick up sounds like a good getaway, but be cautious, said John Spence, the president of a travel company in Calif. “If you don’t pick the right skill for you, or go in with unrealistic expectations, your precious time off won’t be enjoyable,” he said.
Here, he shares his advice on planning a learning vacation that you won’t regret taking:
Follow your passion (热情). 36 . They include cooking, photography, art history, farming or a sport such as diving or horseback riding. To get the most out of the trip, choose something you’re passionate about.
37 ? With whatever skill you intend to learn, figure out whether you want an immersion (沉浸) or only to occupy a part of your trip. It’s possible to learn cooking basics, for example, by taking a weeklong course at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland. Another option is to attend several half-day classes at the school and have more free time to explore the destination itself. “ 38 , so make sure that it’s what you really want,” Mr. Spence said.
Consider your budget. No matter the skill, you can learn it by taking a vacation in a wide range of price ranges. 39 . If you want to learn scuba diving (水肺式潜泳), for example, heading to the Maldives will cost several thousand dollars per person, while a scuba diving trip to the Florida Keys is a more wallet-friendly choice.
Don’t forget the children. 40 , provided that they are fun. “Yes, you want your kids to learn, but you don’t want them to be bored by overloading them with too much information,” Mr. Spence said.
A.A little, or a lot
B.Don’t be influenced by others’ interests
C.What skill do you want to learn
D.Learning vacations can be great family trips, too
E.The options for what you can learn on your vacation are limitless
F.Having a clear idea of your budget will help you home in on the right trip
G.Spending your entire break devoted to learning something new can be stressful

第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,在空自处填入1个适当单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
In our class Mayank is the 56 (noisy)—of all boys. His voice is like that of a bull frog, but the volume is louder. In this noisy bunch is a girl who hardly ever opens her mouth and her name is Padma. The boy who 57 (sit) next to me is such a gentle and soft creature.
Then there is Disha, our class monitor. She sits right in front of the teacher’s table. She is such a model student 58 all the teachers love her. We all love her because she does not boss us around. All she does is to make sure that the 59 (teacher) have sufficient chalk to write on the board and that the classroom is clean.
Right at the back of the class sits our sleepy-head. Manish seems to need more sleep than others. He catches cat-naps 60 between lessons. The funny thing is that he can fall asleep almost 61 (instant). 62 moment the teacher leaves after a lesson, Manish’s snores (鼾声) start up and we know he is at it again.
Every class has a clown. Our class has Jimmy. He is always up to some prank or the other, putting tails on the boys’ pants, frogs in the girls’ desks and powdered chalk on the teacher’s chair. So when we hear a girl scream or see men-teachers 63 (walk) around with chalk on the seat of their pants, we know that Jimmy has 64 (strike)again.
The other classmates too have their own unique 65 (personal). All in all, we are a group of young children who perhaps are a bit noisy at times, but on the whole, are well-behaved and pleasant to be with.

第二节(满分25分)
67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
On the first day of school, I stared in awe at the huge buildings. This high school was definitely bigger than the one I had previously attended.
This was my second year of high school, but my first year of school in St. Louis. I had decided the night before that I would be much happier in a new school if I made friends that were so-called “popular”. Getting in with the right group of people would make my life a whole lot better. I even bought a new outfit and had my hair styled just so the first day would be perfect.
Scared, yet anxious to begin my new life, I walked up the stairs to the front door. The halls were packed with kids yelling and laughing and telling stories of their summer adventures. My first class was geometry, but where was that?
I was standing in the hall looking confused, when a short, blond girl wearing glasses came up and asked, “Are you new? You look lost. Do you need help? My name is Diane. What’s yours?” Even though she seemed a bit strange, definitely not the kind of person I wanted to be associated with, I decided to answer her anyway. I was, after all, lost.
After exchanging names. I followed her up the stairs and down a hallway on the right, making polite conversation the whole way. When we reached my room she said, “Well, here you are. Welcome to JFK, and I hope your day goes all right.”
I said thanks and waved good-bye. Once inside the classroom, I saw one big group of people huddled around someone who seemed to be telling some sort of story. I walked over and got close enough to overhear. All eyes were glued to the guy in the middle of the circle who was wearing a letter jacket covered with patches. I decided that this guy was popular, so I managed to get a seat right next to him. I said, “Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m new here.” He said, “Johnny.”
注意:1.所续写短文的词数应为150左右:
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置答题。
At the end of the class, I turned to him and asked, “I’m not sure where my next class is, could you help me?”

Just at that time, someone came up and tapped me on the shoulder.

I went to Yunnan Province with my parents. We spent a week visiting many fascinating places. The breathtaking scenery in Kunming, Dali and Lijiang was undeniably a poetic feast for our eyes. There were so many attractions we could never miss. We climbed Xishan Mountain, visited the Stone Forest and Flower Market, went boating on Erhai Lake and so on. Tasting the delicious food like the crossing bridge noodles was also a must. Hot and tired as we were, we were more than thrilled.

67.One Possible Version:
At the end of the class, I turned to him and asked, “I’m not sure where my next class is, could you help me?” With a frown, he looked at me and then said a quick no, turned back to his friends, and walked out of the classroom. As they were walking out I heard him say, “Did you guys see that new girl trying to get into our group? That outfit was too strange.” They all laughed and some of them turned around and stared at me. My face hot with shame, I stood stock-still, not believing what had just happened.
Just at that time, someone came up and tapped me on the shoulder. It was Diane. Like a ray of sunshine, the big smile on her face swept away my gloom. I struggled to hold my feelings back and told her what I had encountered. A gleam of concern in her eyes, she said she was sorry and offered to find my next class. At that moment I realized how wrong I was in wanting to only be friends with popular people. Maybe I shouldn’t decide whether a person is worth being my friend or not by their reputation, but by who they are.
