The Story of Mulan
Traditional Chinese story is one of the symbols of Chinese culture. The story of Mulan is one of excellent traditional stories. Do you want to know this story? Let me tell you.
Around 1,500 years ago in Northern China, there was a girl called Mulan who was born into a warrior household(军人家庭). Mulan, unlike many other traditional girls, enjoyed her horseback riding and hearing about battles. One day, Mulan’s father got a letter. Mulan’s family had to send a soldier to fight for the country. Since Mulan’s father was too old and her brother was too young, she made up her mind to dress up like a boy and take her father’s place to fight in the army. In the army, no one found she was a girl. She fought bravely for many years on horseback. After the war, Mulan was awarded(奖励) by the emperor for her outstanding service to the country. Only when she returned to her hometown did her comrades(战友) know she was a girl.
From this story, I can feel Mulan’s deep love for her family and country. In the future, I will tell more Chinese stories in English to be a good Chinese cultural spreader.
