The Hangzhou Asian Games concluded on October 8th, with Chinese athletes winning gold medals in over half of the events, showcasing the spirit of perseverance that defends China's honor as a sports giant. However, who could have imagined that 90 years ago, China could only send one athlete to participate in the Olympics?
In July 1932, at the 10th Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA, a young and dark-skinned Chinese man named Liu Changchun sprinted fiercely in the 100-meter preliminary race, breaking the Asian record and becoming the first Chinese athlete to enter the Olympic finals.
Liu Changchun, the sole representative of China in that Olympic Games, was born in 1909 in Dalian, Liaoning Province. He showed remarkable athletic talent from a young age. Despite being from a poor family, he persisted in practicing running. Every morning, he would run on the beach in Dalian to enhance his physical fitness. Liu Changchun's hard training eventually led to his breakthrough in the sprint event.
At that time, Northeast China had already been occupied by Japan, and China, confronted(面对) with troubles from home and abroad, was in a total mess. The Japanese invaders tried to deceive Liu Changchun into representing the so-called Manchukuo(伪满洲国) in the Olympics, but he firmly rejected their unreasonable demand and insisted on participating as a Chinese.
With financial support from Zhang Xueliang, he made his way to Los Angeles alone. Due to the long journey and lack of systematic training, he finished fifth in the final. However, his spirit of perseverance and courage to challenge set a glorious example for Chinese sports.
His efforts gained widespread attention, with the President of the International Olympic Committee praising Liu Changchun as "China's pride" and personally awarding him a special medal for his outstanding performance at the Olympics.
In the past 90 years, China has undergone tremendous changes and is no longer a weak country it used to be. The only thing that remains unchanged is the unstoppable steps of the Chinese people.

So Liam wondered what it would be like to bike from the point farthest north in the United States to the most southern point in South America.
根据第四段第一句“At first Liam's parents weren't too happy about him taking such a long bike trip by himself.”
根据倒数第二段中的“In Colombia,he had a bike accident that left him injured and required an operation.”
根据最后一段中的“‘Everyone is able to do amazing things,’he says. ‘The hardest part is believing in yourself.’”
In the early part of his life,Seiichi Sano was a busy business owner. Later in life,he took on other difficult activities. At the age of 80, he climbed Mount Fuji, Japan's highest mountain. Soon after, he started surfing. He was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the oldest male to surf.
Sano turns 90 later this year."I think it would be interesting to try to surf until I'm 100,"Sano said. "I think I will take better care of myself when I have goals like this.”
Sano lives in a place about 20 minutes from Yokohama. He gets out most weekends on the black- sand beach near Enoshima. It is the small island that held sailing competitions during the Tokyo 2020Summer Olympic Games.
Sano said he got the idea to try surfing from a worker at a local bank. The man's skin was always tan(棕褐色)and he did not look like a usual banker. His secret, was surfing. So. Sano found a teacher.
Sano joined hundreds of other surfers recently at Enoshima. All the surfers were younger than him, of course. Several young students who also work with Sano's surf teacher, talked about Sano."I think age doesn't matter in surfing. To be honest. I was surprised by his age,”12-year-old Iroha Shimabukuro said. “I think he's amazing.I respect(尊重)him.”said another young surfer,Shua.“I was most worried that he would get injured(受伤的).”
“People often say that surfing is life itself,"Sano said. “I have never thought of myself as an old person.I always feel that I can still move forward. I can still do it. I can still enjoy it.”

I think I will take better care of myself when I have goals like this.
I will take better... like this 为省略了引导词that的宾语从句,作think的宾语;在该从句中,when引导时间状语从句。
根据第二段中的“I think it would be interesting to try to surf until I'm100”可知,Sano 认为试着冲浪到100 岁会很有意思。
根据第四段前三句“Sano said he got the idea to try surfing from a worker at a local bank...was surfing.”
根据倒数第二段中的“I was surprised by his age”以及“I think he's amazing.I respect him...”
根据倒数第二段中Shua 说的话“I was most worried that he would get injured.”
