2 “Six
Degrees
of
Separation”
means
that
any
person
can
be
connected
to
other
person
through
a
chain
of
no
more
than
five
other
people.
This
theory
was
put
forward
firstly
by
Frigyes
Karinthy
in
the
1920s.
In
the
1950s,
two
scientists
tried
to
prove
this
theory,
adopting
mathematics
method,
but
in
vain.
Then,
in
1967,
an
American
sociologist
Stanley
tested
the
theory.
He
chose
random
samples
of
people
to
deliver
a
document
parcel
to
a
certain
person
in
the
suburb.
The
person
didnt
know
the
person
who
should
receive
the
parcel.
As
a
consequence,
much
to
our
amazement,
it
only
took
a
network
of
five
to
seven
people
to
get
the
parcel
to
the
target
person.
In
the
last
few
decades,
the
phrase
“ Six
Degrees
of
Separation”
has
appeared
again,
appealing
to
lots
of
ordinary
people.
Additionally,
they
also
helped
people
to
better
understand
the
theory.
In
2001,
Columbia
University
tried
to
proceed
Milgrams
experiment
on
the
Internet.
And
most
recently,
University
of
Milan
also
proved
this
theory
successfully.
