In the 1960s, a musical group composed a popular song called Monday: “Every other day of the week is fine. But whenever Monday comes, you can find me crying all of the time.” When talking about days of the week, Monday gets ___1___ expectation. I surveyed friends, and the ___2___ were very clear. When asking which day of the week they liked the least, 90 percent of them chose Monday. I disagree with them all. I think Monday is actually the best day of the week. ___3___, consider all the good things that happen on Mondays. For example, quite a few public holidays are celebrated on Mondays. Then Monday is the best day to do shopping because there aren’t so many people shopping. Experts say that you can also get the best online deals on Mondays. This is ___4___ true for electronics, such as computers, TVs, and video games. To me, however, there’s something even more important about Mondays. Each Monday ___5___ a new beginning. For example, last week I got behind on my homework and had to give up going to a movie with my friends on the weekend. But ___6___ Monday arrived, I could start all over again. I also love Mondays because we usually start new lessons at school at the beginning of the week. While last week’s topics may be ___7___, Monday can bring a new book to read, or math problems to solve. Besides, I always become full of energy on Mondays after getting enough sleep at weekends. I realize that I am probably not going to make everyone believe that Monday is the best day of the week, but hopefully I can ___8___ a few people to change. The next time a Monday comes, think about all the good things that could happen and look forward to the day instead of ___9___ it. There’s no way to ___10___ Mondays, so join me in making the best of them. Who knows? You might even start liking the first day of the workweek. 1. A. much B. some C. little D. any 2. He lay on a hard little bed and struggled to start breathing. Oliver fought his first battle without much help from the two people present at his birth. One was an old woman, who was nearly always drunk, and the other was a busy local doctor, who was not paid enough to be very interested in Oliver’s survival. However, Oliver managed to draw his first breath, and then announced his arrival by crying loudly. His mother raised her pale young face and whispered, “Let me see it.” The doctor turned away from the fire, where he had been warming his hands. He gave her the child. Lovingly, she kissed the baby with her cold white lips, then stared wildly around the room, fell back — and died. The doctor began to put on his coat. “The mother was a good-looking girl. Where did she come from?” “She was brought here last night,” replied the old woman. “She was found lying in the street. Where she came from, or what her name was, nobody knows.” The doctor lifted the girl’s left hand. “The old story,” he shook his head. “No wedding ring, I see. Ah! Good night.” And so Oliver was left with only the drunken nurse. He was then sent to a special “baby farm” nearby. There, he and thirty other children rolled around the floor all day, without the inconvenience (不便) of too much food or too much clothing. Mrs. Mann, who “looked after” them, was very experienced. She knew what was “good” for children. She also knew what was good for herself. The board (董事会) responsible (负责) for the orphans (孤儿) sometimes checked on the health of the children, but they always sent Mr. Bumble, a kind local policeman, to announce their visit the day before. So whenever the board arrived, of course, the children were always neat and clean. On Oliver’s ninth birthday, Mr. Bumble came. Through the front window, Mrs. Mann saw him at the gate, and turned quickly to the girl who worked with her. “Quick! Take Oliver and those others upstairs to be washed!” she said. Then she ran out to unlock the gate which was always kept locked. — Oliver Twist 14. How was the weather when Oliver arrived in this hard world? A. Cool. B. Cold. C. Warm. D. Hot. 15. There are two stories about the origin (起源) of “Subject Three”. One story connects the dance to a wedding in Wuzhou, where guests danced as part of the celebrations. The other story suggests Guangxi local people go through three tests in their life: singing folk songs (“Subject One”), slurping rice noodles (“Subject Two”), and dancing (“Subject Three”). ①______ Why has “Subject Three” dance become so popular around the world? Some experts think the key to the success of “Subject Three” lies in its simplicity, which allows people to copy and take part. Its lasting joy is the secret to its popularity, satisfying people’s needs. While some others think openness leads to its popularity. ②______ What’s more, “Subject Three” has gone beyond cultural differences and language barriers (障碍) to become an unusual form of expression in the digital age. From Psy’s “Gangnam Style” (South Korea) in 2013 to “Subject Three” in 2023, some dance styles, songs and other performances have broken boundaries between different cultures. ③______ “Subject Three” does not only belong to China alone, but it belongs to the world as well. China’s stories can be spread to the world even through simple, short videos of a dance. “Subject Three” provides the living conditions of the Chinese people for the international community. The works that are loved by the common Chinese are always attractive to people around the world. ④______ We often pay more attention to the word “good” to show high-brow (高雅的) Chinese culture to the world when telling China’s stories. But in 2023, the breakout success of “Subject Three” became a classic example of how to tell a good Chinese story. Hopefully, in the future, more stories like “Subject Three” will be heard by the world. 18. What makes “Subject Three” so popular around the world according to the passage? ①simplicity ②openness ③origin ④Chinese culture A. ①② B. ②③ C. ③④ D. ①④ 19. Why is Psy’s “Gangnam Style” mentioned in Paragraph 3? A. To show how popular it is. B To help support the writer’s opinion. C. To encourage people to learn “Gangnam Style”. D. To encourage people to know about South Korea’s culture. 20. This sentence “So the government should take advantage of this chance to introduce more cultural products to the world and show the charm of Chinese culture.” can be put in ______. A. ① B. ② C. ③ D. ④ 21. What can we infer according to the passage? A. Foreign people may have difficulty learning “Subject Three”. B. “Subject Three” shows high-brow Chinese culture to the world. C. “Subject Three” breaks boundaries by mixing different cultures together. D. More short videos will be taken to tell Chinese stories to the world. 【答案】18. A 19. B 20. D 21. D 【解析】 【导语】本文主要介绍了“科目三”的起源、受欢迎的原因以及带来的影响等。 【18题详解】 细节理解题。根据文中“Some experts think the key to the success of ‘Subject Three’ lies in its simplicity…While some others think openness leads to its popularity.”可知,“科目三”受欢迎的原因是其简单性和开放性。故选A。 【19题详解】 推理判断题。根据文中“From Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ (South Korea) in 2013 to ‘Subject Three’ in 2023, some dance styles, songs and other performances have broken boundaries between different cultures.”可知,提到“Gangnam Style”是为了支持作者的观点,说明一些舞蹈风格和表演打破了文化界限。故选B。 【20题详解】 推理判断题。根据文中“The works that are loved by the common Chinese are always attractive to people around the world.”可知,“科目三”深受世界人民的喜爱,所以故可推测政府应该利用这个机会向世界介绍更多的文化产品,展示中国文化的魅力,这句话适合放在④处。故选D。 【21题详解】 推理判断题。根据文中“Hopefully, in the future, more stories like ‘Subject Three’ will be heard by the world.”可知,将来会有更多像“科目三”这样的短视频被世界所看到。故选D。 (D) ①Science and technology makes our school life easier and better than before! When your teacher gives lessons with his phone or pad, Bluetooth does help a lot. What is Bluetooth? Read the article and find it out! ②If you look around the room you are in right now, you’ll probably notice a number of electronics (电器). But can you imagine if they all had to be joined together by wires (电线)? Picture the wire snaking along the floor, for example, from your smartphone to your speaker, or connecting your game controller to the computer screen, meaning you could never sit more than a couple of meters away from it. A world of electronics connected by wires would not only be untidy, but a possible danger, too. That’s where Bluetooth comes in. We’ve all heard of it—but what exactly is it? ③Bluetooth is a method of short-distance wireless communication between electronics that makes use of the power of radio waves. The idea was first thought of by Dr. Jaap Haartsen at Swedish mobile company Ericsson in 1994. Things really stepped up in September 1998 when the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) was set up to develop and spread the technology. Bluetooth 1.0 came out in 1999, and a year later it began to be used in mobile phones and desktop computers. Now Bluetooth has become an increasingly popular way of solving the problem of more and more electronics needing to be connected without having to connect everything together with wires. ④But if you look at the remote control you use to choose the program on TV, you might rightly ask yourself why Bluetooth was such a big deal. After all, connecting objects with infrared signals (红外信号) which can’t be seen had been done before. The problem with remote controls is that they need to keep what is called “line of sight”. If something is standing between the remote control and receiver, it won’t work. Because Bluetooth uses radio waves, the things standing in the way are no longer a problem. ⑤Since its creation in the late 1990s, the technology has become more and more improved and widely used, with the 4 billionth Bluetooth objects shipped (上市) in 2020. 22. If all the electronics in your room are connected by wires, your room will look ______. A. tidy and safe B. untidy but safe C. tidy but dangerous D. untidy and dangerous 23. With the setting up of SIG, Bluetooth ______. A. was able to connect all electronics B. made radio waves known to people C. made infrared signals known to people D. improved and spread quickly 24. Today, I’d like to recommend Song of Autumn, one of the poems by Liu Yuxi (772-842), a famous poet and writer in the mid Tang dynasty. Just as shown in the first line of the poem, most ancient poets liked to describe autumn as a sad time, but in this poem the season appears differently. In Liu’s eyes, autumn, full of life and hope, is even better than spring morning. He describes the bright scene of a crane riding the clouds and flying into the blue sky. With his poems paying special attention to expressing personal feelings, as well as the daily life of common people, Liu wrote poems with beautiful music-like words. You may feel it in this poem. Though being translated thoughtfully by experienced Xu Yuanchong, the poem still reads not so beautifully as that in Chinese. I personally think that English is sometimes not so powerful as Chinese. 54. What is autumn like in Liu’s Song of Autumn? __________________________________________________________________ 55. How did Liu make poems read beautifully? __________________________________________________________________ 56. Which season do you like better, spring or autumn? (B) When Oliver arrived in this hard world, it was very doubtful whether he would live beyond the first three minutes. On Oliver’s ninth birthday Mr. B. To help support the writer’s opinion. (D) ①Science and technology makes our school life easier and better than before! From Paragraph 4 we mainly get to know the ______ of Bluetooth. A advantage B. popularity C. standard. D. development 25. In which part of a newspaper can we probably find the passage? A. Review. B. Nature. C. Technology. D. People. 第三部分 信息还原(共5小题:每小题1分,满分5分) 请认真阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 We often have arguments in all relationships. But that is not always a bad thing.
