Enjoy a Baltic beach relaxation in Bornholm Beloved by Danes for its sandy beaches and fishing harbours, the island of Bornholm is distinguished by more sunshine time than anywhere else in the country. B One Saturday in December, Annacarin Elf, the head of operations at Gothenburg City Library, just happened to walk by her workplace. Noticing that the door was open, she entered the library, and was astonished to see the heartwarming scene that people were using it like on a regular day. It was scheduled to be closed for the New Year holiday. The people in the library behaved as usual. Many were sitting reading newspapers, some families were in the children's section and others were searching for books on the computer. It seemed that Elf's colleagues had simply forgotten to lock the door, and because this popular library is usually open on Saturdays. visitors just assumed they could walk in. Elf called to check with her staff team, before announcing to the people present that the library was about to close. Then she expressed her regret for what had been done wrong and caused them a problem. It later turns out that 446 locals visited the city library borrowing a total of 246 books during the day. What's remarkable is that people checked out their books through the library's electronic self-service system, and that to date, all the books have been retuned! Many Swedes have reacted positively to this uplifting demonstration of local respect for the library, a center that can be seen as a sign of the community, and what the locals did has strengthened their sense of belonging in their community. Elf says, “Nothing was destroyed. It's amazing that Gothenburgers entered an empty library and treated and so lovingly.” The city leader has even suggested that this unusual Saturday serve as an accidental experiment to analyse the possibility of operating a totally automated library without staff. 24.Why did Elf feel surprised after entering the library? A.It displays community spirit. B.It gives the library much uplift. C.It is a positive reaction to society. D.It strengthens trust between people. 27.What does the author want to convey through the story? A.People tend to show care for others. B.Life is always full of the unexpected. C.Libraries can be automated sometimes. D.A library can bring out the best in people. C Forget about “military-style travel” during which people tend to visit as many places as possible in the least amount of time. A more relaxed and leisurely alternative, such as “Citywalk”, is becoming the norm among urban youngsters. Unlike military-style travel, Citywalk is about wandering around a city on foot, feeling the atmosphere and finding unusual things that even a resident of the city might not have noticed before. It can be a special event where people start a journey led by tour guides or simply explore the streets. Such walks generally avoid famous scenic spots and shopping centers, and take you to places where you can have real interactions with the local people, eat at small but authentic restaurants, and gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of the city. Citywalkers have shared their carefully planned routes on social media platforms. Their posts usually include how long the walk is going to take, and interesting places and restaurants along the way. Some posts are more like a food tour. Nan Xi, who recently moved from Beijing to Shanghai, said “I think Shanghai is a city perfect for Citywalk. There are big trees along the streets and shops selling different products, which is ideal for couples and friends to walk together and take photos.” After several Citywalk experiences, she signed up for a two-and-a-half-hour Citywalk priced at 88 yuan per person. A tour guide narrated the history of the buildings and streets along the way. “If it were me walking alone, I would simply find the streets artistic, but the tour that day helped me gain a better understanding of how Western culture blends in with the local culture in Shanghai,” she said. Another surprising benefit of the walk was that she has made friends with two of her fellow walkers. Lin Yi, a manager for an online platform for self-guided tours, said Citywalk can help travelers learn about local culture and live as local people do, feeling the vibes of a city. People who participate in Citywalks usually have similar tastes, and can have in-depth discussions with each other, he said. 28.What is the main difference between military-style travel and Citywalk? A.The transport. B.The cost. C.The purpose. D.The destination. 29.What can we conclude about Citywalk in Shanghai according to Nan Xi? A.It is a perfect place to run shops. B.There are great things to do at weekends. C.Ideal couples and friends often gather there. D.It provides great experiences in many ways. 30.What can be inferred from Nan Xi’s two-and-a-half-hour Citywalk? A.She thought it well worth a try. B.She went on the tour without company. C.She wouldn’t have found the artistic streets by herself. D.She knew how Western culture differed from the local culture in Shanghai. 31.What is the main idea of the article? A.Citywalk is a new trend in urban tourism. B.Citywalk can help travelers make new friends. C.Military-style travel is becoming more popular. D.Travelers choose Citywalk over military style to follow suit. D Some people never read any books again and feel that since they already know the outcome, there is nothing to be gained by rereading. I have to dissent. I am reminded of a professor in college, who always had us read our assignments twice. “The first time, read fast and for fun,” he said. “The second time, look for delicate distinctions and small differences in meaning.” His suggestion works great for me. When I have a new book, I read fast, eager to discover the resolution. Then if I like the book, I will read it again. Not right away, but a few months later, possibly on a rainy Sunday afternoon, I will grab the book and settle down to discover the small details. I will read more slowly the second time, appreciating the descriptions and looking forward to my favorite sections, enjoying the anticipation. Knowing those favorite passages are coming does not spoil anything. I’m looking forward to revisiting those treasured places in the book. Knowing they are coming heightens my enjoyment. Rereading a book gives me a chance to appreciate the small things an author integrates into her story. A turn of a character’s head, a thought in the night, a sigh, these are the things that give insights into a book and the characters. I love dissecting (剖析) a story the second time around, looking for clues that give the tale a deep meaning. Reading is like revisiting a friend, familiar, yet always with something more inside. What have I been reading lately? The Merlin Trilogy by Mary Stewart. These books rank among my all-time favorite rereads. Set in Britain in roughly the second half of the 5th century CE, they were Mary Stewart’s take on the familiar King Arthur stories. If you are unfamiliar with them, I highly recommend all three books, especially if you love fantasy and historical fiction. 32.What does the underlined word “dissent” in paragraph 1 mean? A.Understand. B.Disagree. C.Complain. D.Discontinue. 33.According to the author’s professor, what should one do during the second reading? A.Look for assignment clues. B.Pay attention to the finer details. C.Stick to the most interesting sections. D.Skip some parts to get to the end fast. 34.What does the author enjoy about rereading a book? A.Visiting the places mentioned in the book. B.Discovering the resolution of the story quickly. C.Finding out the lessons learned by the characters. D.Appreciating the writer’s storytelling techniques. 35.What is The Merlin Trilogy? A.The author’s new favorites. B.A series of science-fiction novels. C.Books based on ancient British stories. D.Mary Stewart’s successful adaptations. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 There are lots of good points of speaking more than one language. If only Mamma could have one!” Immediately, the store owner recognized the familiar girl and asked her to pick one. Kitty just shook her head and ran away shyly. Kitty’s mother was extremely poor. She had been a dressmaker ever since Kitty’s father died, and had to work hard to earn a living for herself and Kitty. Unfortunately, she had recently become very sick and had to lie in bed all day long. When Kitty was away at school, the house was incredibly cold and cheerless. She missed her little angel — that is what she called Kitty. Kitty took great care of her mother. She cooked her food, mostly soup. They could not afford fresh fruit. Kitty would even sing to her mother at night. When Kitty reached the school that day, her thoughts were full of her sick mother and the lovely red apples. She was usually an excellent student, but that day she made so many mistakes that the teacher looked at her in surprise. The little girl could only sit at her desk, with her book before her, and dream of those red apples. When school was dismissed, Kitty started slowly homeward. She had walked only a short distance when she saw a man in front of her drop his wallet. Running quickly forward, she picked it up. The wallet felt quite heavy in Kitty’s little hand. “There must be a good deal of money in it,” thought Kitty. “How I wish I could keep it, so that I would then be able to purchase a red apple for Mamma, and so many other things she needs.” 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Kitty knew this would not be right, so she hurried after the man. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The store owner saw the familiar girl rushing in, one dollar in hand. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试卷第1页,共3页 试卷第1页,共3页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 参考答案: 1.B 【原文】M: The hat costs $20, but I only have $10.
