The Arnolfini Portrait The Arnolfini Portrait of Jan van Eyck, an oil painting on wood produced in 1434, in which a man and a woman hold hands with a window behind him and a bed behind her, is undoubtedly one of the masterpieces in the National Gallery, London. This painting is as visually interesting as it is famed. It is also an informative document on the fifteenth-century society, through Van Eyck's heavy use of symbolism—while husbands went out to engage in business, wives concerned themselves with domestic duties. The Starry Night Vincent Willem van Gogh painted The Starry Night, an oil on a piece of canvas(油画布),a moderately abstract landscape painting of an expressive night sky over a small hillside village, during his 12-month stay at the mental hospital near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France between 1889 and 1890. When the Museum of Modern Art in New York City purchased the painting from a private collector in 1941, it was not well known, but it has since become one of Van Gogh's most famous works. The Harvesters The Harvesters is an oil painting on wood completed by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1565.It depicts the harvest time which most commonly emerged within the months of August and September. Nicolaes Jonghelinck, a merchant banker and art collector from Antwerp, commissioned this painting. The painting has been at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City since 1919. Guernica Guernica, a large black-and-white oil painting, was painted by the Cubist Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso in 1937. The title “Guernica” refers to the city that was bombed by Nazi planes during the Spanish Civil War. The painting depicts the horrors of war and as a result, it has come to be an anti-war symbol and a reminder of the tragedies of war. At 94, she hasn't been able to leave her home. Her sisters Tessie and Yolanda, also in their 90s, live just a few blocks away, but like tens of thousands of older New Yorkers, they just aren't able to get out anymore. But Ms. Parry is a little pleased today as she tells some guests how she likes to write a few poems for her sisters now and then. She'll recite (朗诵) them over the phone, since the sisters do talk every day. She keeps a lot of handwritten poems in a box. And a few months ago, she received a poem, “Luck” by Langston Hughes, printed on a card that was put into one of her Citymeals on Wheels deliveries. The poem, which Ms. Parry posted on her refrigerator, is part of Poems on Wheels, a partnership between the Poetry Society of America and Citymeals on Wheels, which delivers poems along with meals to older New Yorkers. The poem cards offer relief from the social isolation ( 孤独) that many of the city's homebound seniors experience. Citymeals delivers more than 2 million meals a year to 18, 000 of New York's seniors. The program delivers meals on weekends and holidays, when the city does not provide meals. After helping to start New York's Poems on Wheels in the fall of 2018, the poetry society partnered with other Meals on Wheels members in Los Angeles last October, which reach 2,200 people each month, and plans to start another partnership in San Francisco later this winter, which will reach 3,500 people at least four times a year.  “I'm very moved when I carry out meal deliveries,” says Beth Shapiro, Director of Citymeals on Wheels. “They have outlived family, so a meal coming to the door is very important. But so is the visit. So, seeing a poem that we sent on their refrigerator, or taped to a wall, is just confirmation of the value of not only the food we bring, but the caring that we do as well — it is a true lifeline for so many.” 4. What can be learned about Ms. Parry? A. She treasures poems highly.     B. She hardly remembers her poems. C. She enjoys great popularity among poets. D. A little is better than none. B. A small act of kindness means a lot. C. Where there is a will, there is a way. D. Those who always try new things laugh last.  C A European Union program is letting blind people experience famous paintings for the first time. It uses three dimensional (3D) printing to recreate famous paintings so they can be touched. One painting printed with the new technology is Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss”.It is a popular attraction at the Belvedere Museum in Vienna,Austria. The painting shows a man and a woman standing in a field filled with flowers. They are wearing gold robes and have their arms around each other. The man leans down to kiss the woman. Klimt finished the painting in 1908.Until now, people who had trouble seeing could not appreciate the artwork. But thanks to the reproduction they can touch the piece and feel the ridges and depressions. Andreas Reichinger started making 3D versions of artworks in 2010.He said this reproduction was his most difficult project because the couple’s robes are so detailed. Dominika Raditsch is a blind museum visitor. She touched the reproduction. As she moved her hands around it she said,“Exactly, can you see these? There are so many details.” Raditsch said she can imagine what the original painting looks like when she touches the reproduction.“It’s somehow round. You can feel it. You can feel it. It comes with it. And in many places it’s so smooth. And then I think to myself:it probably shines too!” Raditsch said. The Belvedere is not the only museum to have 3D versions of its artworks. Some of the pieces at the Prado,in Madrid,Spain have reproductions that can be touched. But the piece in Vienna has one special part:It is made with widely available 3D printing technology. That means one day, blind art fans anywhere in the world could download the source files and print the reproductions themselves. 8.What is “The Kiss”? A.A European Union project. B.A popular painting. C.A 3D technology. D.A famous museum. 9.Why did Reichinger say this reproduction was difficult to finish? A.The painting was reproduced detailedly. B.The original artwork was made in 1908. C.Blind art fans can’t download the source. D.The 3D technology is not available. 10.How did Raditsch feel when she first touched the reproduction? A.Awkward. B.Puzzled. C.Excited. D.Nervous. 11.What is the best title for the text? A.A European Union Program for Museum Visitors B.3D Printing Lets the Blind Experience Famous Paintings C.How to Reproduce the Worldfamous Paintings D.A Special Museum for Art Fans in Vienna,Austria D One of the greatest sources of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are. When we see something we don't like, we wish it could be different. We cry out for something better. That may be human nature, or perhaps it's something ingrained (根深蒂固的) in our culture. The root of unhappiness isn't necessarily that we want things to be different. However, it's that we decided we didn't like it in the first place. We've judged it as bad, rather than saying, “It's not bad or good, and it just is it.” In one of my books, I said, “You should expect people to mess up and expect things to go differently than you planned.” Some readers said it's too sorrowful to expect things to go wrong. However, it's only negative if you see it as negative and judge it as bad. Instead, you could accept it as the way the world works and try to understand why that is. This can be applied to whatever you do: how other people act at work, how politics works and how depressing the news media can be. Accept these things as they are, and try to understand why they're that way. It will save you a lot of sadness, because you'll no longer say, “Oh, I wish bad things didn't happen!” Does it mean you can never change things? Not at all. Change things not because you can't accept things as they are, but because you enjoy the process of changing, learning and growing. Can we make this world a better place? You can say that you'll continue to try to do things to help others, to grow as a person, to make a difference in this world. That's the correct path you choose to take, because you enjoy that path. Therefore, when you find yourself judging and wishing for difference, try a different approach: accept, and understand. It might lead to some interesting results. 12.The author believes that we feel unhappy maybe because .  A. it is our natural emotion in life B. culture asks us to be different from others C. everyone has their own opinions on things D. we dislike something in the beginning 13.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refer to? A. Acting well at work and in politics. B. Feeling depressed for the news media. C. Accepting and understanding what has happened. D. Saying something negative when bad things come. 14.What advice does the author give according to the last paragraph? A. Help others and make a difference. B. Enjoy what you have to do in the work. C. Judge yourself and make a wish for yourself. D. Try a new way when making the world better. 15.What is the main theme of the passage? A. Accepting can make our life happier and better. B. Expecting things to be different gives us hope. C. Traditional culture becomes the root of unhappiness. D. Judging good or bad is important for our world. 第二节 七选五(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Are you sometimes stressed out?
