Step 1 Lead-in
The teacher has students answer the following questions.
Do you like listening to music?
What kind of music do you like?
Who is your favorite singer?
What’s your favorite song from him or her?
How does music make you feel?
Share your ideas with your group members.
Step 2 Introduce a beautiful song
name of the song : 飞云之下
The beautiful song , 飞云之下 , is from the singer Lin Junjie and Han Hong. It’s Pop Music.
Step 3 Introduce some kinds of music
The teacher introduce some kinds of music , and play some pieces of music to the students.
1. Countty music
Type of music that comes from the folk music of the southern and western America. The tunes (曲调) of country music are easy to sing ,and the lysics (歌词) often leave you deep in thought.
2. Rock ‘n’ Roll
Rock ‘n’ Roll came from Rhythm and Blues(R&B) in the end of 1940s. It also combined with different types of music such as country music and folk music.It has very loud sound with a strong sense of beat(节奏感).
3. Classical Music (古典音乐)
Serious and traditional style.
4. Orchestra (管弦乐/交响乐)
Groups of people play different musical instruments together, led by a conductor.
5. Introduce some typical western instruments and Chinese trdational musical instruments.
Step 3 Read the posters on the book
1. Read the posters about two important musical instruments and the musicians, and discuss the following questions in pairs.
2. Listen to two pieces of music Horse Racing and For Elise. Then answer the following question.
How do you feel when you listen to the song?
Step 4 Homework
Write a short introduction about your favourite song, then share with class.
