What Could the School of 2050 Look Like?
A big development today has been the improvement in technology, and we can be certain that it will continue to play an important role in the future.
In 2050, there will be green technology in schools. Recycling will be more common. Some schools may go one step further. They may have vertical (垂直的) farms for both teaching students and giving vegetables to the local communities.

The man came early in February, one cold day, through a strong wind and a driving snow, the last snowfall of the year, walking from Bramble Hurst railway station and carrying a little black bag in his thickly gloved hand. He was wrapped (包裹) up from head to foot, and the big hat hid every inch of his face but his nose; the snow had piled itself against his shoulders and added a white cover to the bag he carried.

ChatGPT is back in the headlines. Open AI, the company behind the popular chatbot has now introduced a powerful new language model: GPT-4.
On March 14, GPT-4 showed the world how smarter it is than the previous GPT-3.5. One of its best new features is that it can understand pictures. For example, if you show a picture of a phone using the wrong charger, GPT-4 can tell why the picture looks strange or funny.
But GPT-4’s developments don’t stop there. The new language model can code classic games like Tetris (俄罗斯方块) in a matter of minutes, and produce the code and layout (布局) for a website based on a handmade drawing. It can also change the tone and style based on what you ask it to do. GPT-4 is much better than the older GPT at passing tests, which may worry teachers. According to CNN, GPT-4 did really well on a law school test, with a score in the top 10 percent of test takers. But GPT-3.5 only got a score in the bottom 10 percent.
GPT-4 will also see greater use as a tool to power other apps and services. For example, the language learning app Duolingo plans to use GPT-4 in their upcoming version, Duolingo Max. Users can learn language by talking with AI. Another app, Be My Eyes, will have a digital assistant to help blind people better understand the world around them. The government of Iceland also plans to use GPT-4 to protect the Icelandic language.
There are still problems with the new language model, however. GPT-4 struggles to get completely correct answers, especially with newer information after September 2021. GPT-4 also sometimes “hallucinates”, meaning that it will insist that wrong information is true.
33.What can we infer from Paragraph 2?
A.GPT-4 can create funny pictures. B.GPT-4 can tell if a phone is recharging.
C.GPT-3.5 cannot understand pictures. D.GPT-4 cannot respond faster than GPT-3.5.
34.Which of the following abilities of GPT-4 are mentioned?
①understanding pictures ②coding classic games
③producing the layout for a website ④changing the tone and style
⑤getting completely correct answers ⑥powering other apps and services
A.①②③④⑤ B.①②④⑤⑥ C.①②③⑤⑥ D.①②③④⑥
35.According to the text, what is true about GPT-4?
A.GPT-4 can beat 90% of human test takers in all tests.
B.GPT-4 is less preferred by apps and services.
C.GPT-4 sometimes is unable to decide whether the information is true or not.
D.GPT-4 couldn’t get correct answers before Sept 2021.
36.Where is this text most likely from?
A.A technology newspaper. B.A science fiction.
C.A computer guidebook. D.A fashion magazine.

He rushed into the “Coach and Horses” more dead than alive, and threw his bag on the floor. “A fire,” he cried, “in the name of human charity! A room and a fire!” He shook the snow from off himself in the bar, and followed Mrs. Hall into her guest parlour (客厅).
Mrs. Hall lit the fire and left him there while she went to prepare him a meal with her own hands. As soon as the meal was well under way, she carried cloth, plates, and glasses into the parlour. Although the fire was burning up, she was surprised to see that her visitor still wore his hat and coat, standing with his back to her and looking out of the window at the falling snow in the yard. He seemed to be lost in thought.
“Can I take your hat and coat, sir?” she said, “and give them a good dry in the kitchen?”
“No,” he said without turning.
She was not sure if he had heard her, and was about to repeat her question. He turned his head and looked at her over his shoulder. “I like to keep them on,” he said, and she noticed that he wore big blue glasses, and had a bushy side-whisker (胡须) that hid his whole face.
“Very well, sir,” she said. “As you like. In a bit the room will be warmer.” The man didn’t answer and turned his face away from her again.
Mrs. Hall went out of the room.

【答案】29.B 30.B 31.C 32.C
【导语】本文主要讲述了一个幽默小故事,82岁的斯坦利作为一场车祸的目击者,到法庭上作证而引发的法庭上的唇枪舌战。
29.细节理解题。根据“Suddenly, he saw a white car coming around the corner at high speed (速度). It was going too fast and crashed (冲向) into a red car in the street where he was walking.”可知,事故发生是因为白车开得太快了。故选B。
30.细节理解题。根据第一段“Suddenly, he saw a white car coming around the corner at high speed (速度). It was going too fast and crashed (冲向) into a red car in the street where he was walking.”、第二段“The two drivers were arguing.”、第五段“The driver of the red car asked Stanley to show he was right in court (法庭). Stanley gave the driver his name and telephone number.”第十段“Then the lawyer said, ‘Why should the court believe you? You are eighty-two years old, you were not wearing your glasses, and it was dark. How far can you see in the dark?’ ”可知,文章发生的顺序是一辆红色的汽车停在街上,白色的车行驶太快撞了上来发生了车祸,两名司机发生了争吵然后斯坦利把他的名字和电话号码告诉了红车司机,最后斯坦利去了法庭作证,律师质疑斯坦利的话。故选B。

【答案】33.C 34.D 35.C 36.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了一款名为GPT-4的语言模型。
33.推理判断题。根据“One of its best new features is that it can understand pictures.”可知,GPT 3.5不能理解图片,这是GPT 4的新功能。故选C。
34.细节理解题。根据“One of its best new features is that it can understand pictures.”可知,GPT-4可以理解图片;根据“The new language model can code classic games like Tetris in a matter of minutes, and produce the code and layout for a website based on a handmade drawing.”可知,GPT-4可以在几分钟内编写俄罗斯方块等经典游戏的代码,并根据手工绘图为网站生成代码和布局;根据“It can also change the tone and style based on what you ask it to do.”可知,GPT-4可以根据你的要求改变语气和风格;根据“GPT-4 will also see greater use as a tool to power other apps and services.”可知,GPT-4还将被更多地用作支持其他应用和服务的工具。故选D。
35.细节理解题。根据“GPT-4 also sometimes ‘hallucinates’, meaning that it will insist that wrong information is true.”可知,GPT-4可能会坚持认为错误的信息是真实的,即无法分辨对错。故选C。
36.推理判断题。通读全文可知,本文主要介绍了一款名为GPT-4的语言模型。因此可以在科学报纸上读到。故选A。
