Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they can eat, and others often forget to turn off the lights 31 they leave the classroom. They say they can afford these things. But I don’t agree with them.
Waste can bring 32 lot of problems. Although China is rich in some resources, we are short of others, for example, fresh water. It is reported that we will have no coal or oil to use in 100 years. So if we go on 33 our resources, what can we use in the future and where can we move? Think about it. I think we should say no to the students 34 waste things every day. Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.
In our everyday life, we can do many things to prevent waste 35 happening. For example, turn off the water taps when we finish washing; turn off the lights when we leave the classroom; try not to order more food than we need, and so on. Little by little, everything will be changed. Waste can be stopped one day, if we do our best.

What are “good boys” and “good girls”? According to most teachers at school, they should be active, positive, honest and study hard. But do the kids think the same as their teachers? Students of Class 1, Xinhua High School is holding a class meeting on the question to search for “good kids” in their class. Many students are excited to express their different ideas.
Liu Ping thinks his classmate Wang Jia is a good boy because Wang is very responsible. As the monitor, Wang takes care of everybody. Once Liu broke his leg and didn’t go to school for a week. It was Wang who brought him class notes every day. “I was deeply moved.” said Liu. “If he is not a good boy, then who can be?”
Li Hong, a 14-year-old girl used to be crazy about playing computer games until she met her new deskmate Zhang Hao. Zhang is quiet and likes reading. He often shares good books with Li and helps her study. Now she has stopped playing computer games and has decided to become a top student like Zhang.
In Lin Li’s mind, however, she herself is a good girl. She said she didn’t always get good marks in tests. But her parents seldom blamed her. “I told them I had tried my best and they believed me.” she said. “Everyone has weak points in different aspects (方面). Those who make every effort whether in study or life should be regarded as ‘good’.” added she.

Have you ever found yourself always downplaying (贬低) your achievements? Do you think that your ideas or skills aren’t worthy of others’ attention all the time? If your answers are “Yes”, then you may have imposter syndrome
It can strike anyone in the world, men and women, old and young. It might surprise you that many successful people also experience feelings of not being good enough about their jobs or lifestyles. According to a report in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, up to 82 percent of participants (参与者) have a problem of imposter syndrome.
Although it’s often called a “syndrome”, imposter syndrome is not a mental or medical problem. It's simply a negative thought pattern (模式). People who have experienced imposter syndrome might have thoughts like, “I’m a failure “or” I have to work harder than everyone else”. They might also feel that their achievements are not worth praising. They believe any success they have achieved is because of good luck rather than their skills or hard work. Those who have more serious imposter syndrome will feel it difficult to share their ideas with others, and they are even afraid to do the work which they are actually good at.
Getting over negative thought patterns is not easy, but it is possible. One tip is to stop comparing yourself with others. “I missed out on standard high school physics, so I have always been a bit confused (困惑的) about simple things,” said Anthony J. Leggett, a physicist who was awarded a Nobel Prize in 2003. It’s impossible for everyone to be good at everything. Next time you are not feeling confident about your abilities, remember that it’s completely normal, and that you can work to overcome this feeling.
54.What is imposter syndrome?
A.A mental problem. B.A medical problem. C.A negative thought pattern.
55.What may a person with imposter syndrome think?
A.I will succeed if I work hard.
B.No one can do better than me.
C.I won’t succeed without good luck.
56.What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A.Who may have imposter syndrome?
B.How can we overcome imposter syndrome?
C.What problems will imposter syndrome bring?
57.Which of the following is the structure of the text?
A. B. C.
You've been learning words since you were a tiny baby. At first, you learned them only by hearing other people talk. Now that you're a reader, you have another way to learn words. What should you do when you come to a word and you think you don't know what it means? 58 .
Say it
First sound it out. Then say it to yourself. 59 . Sometimes you know a word in your head but you don't know what it looks like in print. So if you match up what you know and what you read - you have the word!
Use context
If this doesn't work, take the next step: look at the context — the other words and sentences around it. Read this sentence: When it rained, the dog looked for shelter in the doorway. 60 . Rain and in the doorway might give you helpful information.
61
If the context doesn't help, look at the parts of the word. Does it have any parts you know? These can help you understand what it means. If you don't know the meaning of miner, try looking at parts of the word. You might know that a mine is a place underground where people get coal and other valuable things. A lot of times, -er at the end of a word means "a person who does something". So a miner might be someone who works in a mine.
Look it up
If the three steps above don't work, you can look it up. 62 — either a book or online.
Nobody knows the meaning of every word, but good readers know how to understand words they don't know.
A.Use word parts
B.Look at the words
C.It might sound like a word you know
D.You can find the word in a dictionary
E.Following some easy steps can help you
F.If the word shelter doesn't look familiar. look at the words around it

A greeting is a way of saying “Hello” to someone. In western countries like the UK and the USA.people often shake hands when they meet for the first time, especially in a formal situation. But there are other ways of greeting people. For instance, male friends sometimes have special handshakes to show that they are close to each other.
In France and Italy, people love to kiss. They often kiss their friends and family on both cheeks when they meet and when they say goodbye.
In India, when people say hello, they press their palms (手掌) together under their chin. To show respect, a slight bow is added. Today people who study yoga often put their palms together at the beginning or end of a yoga lesson.
And what do you think of people rubbing (蹭) noses together? This special greeting is common among the Maori who live in New Zealand in the southern hemisphere, and also among the limits who live in the far north.
In Japan, for instance, men and women bow when they greet someone. The women hold their hands together and the men put their hands by their sides.

Third, water your garden at a good time. The best time to water your garden is in the early morning or late evening when it’s cool outside. Watering when it’s hot and sunny is wasteful because most of the water disappears before the plants have time to drink it.

(
A.a
B.from
C. wasting
D.when
E. with
F. who
)

A. B. C.
【答案】54.C 55.C 56.B 57.A
根据“Although it’s often called a ‘syndrome’, imposter syndrome is not a mental or medical problem. It’s simply a negative thought pattern (模式).”
根据“They believe any success they have achieved is because of good luck rather than their skills or hard work.”
根据最后一段的内容,特别是“Getting over negative thought patterns is not easy, but it is possible. One tip is to stop comparing yourself with others.”
故选A。
E.Following some easy steps can help you
F.If the word shelter doesn't look familiar. look at the words around it
【答案】58.E 59.C 60.F 61.A 62.D

Following some easy steps can help you符合。故选E。
根据后文“Sometimes you know a word in your head but you don't know what it looks like in print”有时候你头脑里知道一个单词但是你不知道这个单词长什么样子, C选项“It might sound like a word you know”符合。故选C。
根据“Rain and in the doorway might give you helpful information” Rain 和 in the doorway可能给你一些有用的信息,F选项“ the word shelter ”符合。故选F。
根据“If the context doesn't help, look at the parts of the word”如果语境没什么帮助,看看单词的部分。 A选项“Use word parts”符合。故选A。
根据“look it up”及“either a book or online”可知此处是关于查单词的问题,D选项“find the word in a dictionary”符合,故选D。

So if we go on 33 our resources, what can we use in the future and where can we move? Think about it. I think we should say no to the students 34 waste things every day. Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.
In our everyday life, we can do many things to prevent waste 35 happening.
