阅读理解 A (2024·沈阳市高中教学质量检测)Many years ago, when I was in high school and working at weekends to pay for the extras—like a class trip, that my family couldn't really afford,I lost my wallet. One day,my old car required putting gas in the back. I paid and drove off,my wallet slipping out of my pocket. I hadn't even had time to miss it when a man phoned and asked me if I had lost my wallet. I checked it and to my horror,I had. He asked me to tell him how much money was in it. He then told me where to pick up my wallet. As I pulled into his driveway,I noticed his wheelchair van and the ramp (坡道) going up to the house. I was thinking that there was no way this man easily got my wallet. He had to pull over his van,get in his wheelchair, lower the lift, and then pick it up. I was just astonished. I knocked on the door and he let me in. I thanked him like 10 times. I was stuck, though. While I didn't want to insult (冒犯) him by offering money,I really felt like offering something. So I asked him if there was anything I could do to repay his kindness, and he said “Just pass my kindness on”.I said I would be certain to do that,as I was raised to be honest in any event. I wanted to repay his kindness,so I wholeheartedly promised. Well, one does not find many wallets and so it was about 10 years later that I found one. It took me several days to track down the man to whom the wallet belonged. He lived in another state. I hated going through his wallet, but I finally located him through a business card he had in it. He was actually surprised his money was still in the wallet and he tried to hand me$20.I told him “Thanks, but just pass my kindness on”. 1.How did the finder make sure the wallet belonged to the author? A.He phoned the gas station. B.He checked the amount of money. C.He went through the wallet. D.He asked where the wallet was lost. 根据第二段的“He asked me to tell him how much money was in it. He then told me where to pick up my wallet.” 2.How did the author feel when he realized the finder's being disabled? A.Satisfied. B.Shocked. C.Delighted. D.Horrified. B。 3.What did the author do to thank the disabled man in Paragraph 4 ? A.He accepted the man's proposal. B.He handed the man some money. C.He passed the man's kindness on. D.He put the money into an account. 根据第四段的“So I asked him if there was anything I could do to repay his kindness...I wanted to repay his kindness,so I wholeheartedly promised.” A。 4.What lesson can we learn from the text? A.Kindness can be passed on. B.Finders keepers, losers weepers. C.Kindness lives in our heart. D.One good turn deserves another. B (2023·沈阳市模拟)People who give, live longer, studies have shown. Now,a new study by University of Michigan researchers shows that why people volunteer—not whether they volunteer—is what really counts. For the study,Konrath and colleagues analyzed data collected in 2008 and 2012 aiming at the same random samples of 3,376 people. Overall, they found that just 2.3 percent of those who once worked as volunteers had died, compared to 4.3 percent of non-volunteers. They further found that how much people volunteered mattered as well—only 1.8 percent of regular volunteers died, compared with 2.5 percent of occasional volunteers. But what really made a difference were people's motives for volunteering. The researchers asked people to rate how important they found various reasons for volunteering, and they found that the more important people rated reasons such as feeling pity for people in need, the more likely they were to be alive. Those who rated motives related to personal benefit as more important were more likely to have died, and just as likely to die as those who didn't volunteer at all. These reasons included volunteering because they enjoyed the social contact,to escape their own problems,or to explore their own strengths. Konrath says the current findings suggest it may be a poor idea to encourage people to volunteer because it's good for them. “Volunteering is increasingly being encouraged in schools and organizations. Some groups say that it's okay to want benefits for yourself, and encourage people to think of volunteering as an exchange for personal interests. Some groups emphasize the health benefits received through volunteering.” Konrath added,“Of course,it's reasonable for volunteers to expect benefits for themselves. But the potential health benefits of volunteering are significantly reduced if self-benefit becomes a person's main motive.” 5.What does the new study mainly find? A.How we volunteer makes sense to others. B.How often we volunteer makes a difference. C.Whether we volunteer decides our well-being. D.Why we volunteer has an impact on our health. 6.How did the researchers do the research? A.By doing experiments. B.Through field research. C.By analyzing statistics. D.Through group discussion. 根据第二段中“For the study,Konrath and colleagues analyzed data collected in 2008 and 2012 aiming at the same random samples of 3,376 people.” C。 7.Which of the following motives will probably contribute to a longer life? A.To develop abilities. B.To help the poor people. C.To make more friends. D.To solve personal problems. 根据第三段中“The researchers asked people to rate how important they found various reasons for volunteering, and they found that the more important people rated reasons such as feeling pity for people in need, the more likely they were to be alive.” B。 8.What is the last paragraph mainly about? A.Practical suggestions on the further studies. B.A further explanation of the current findings. C.A reasonable doubt about the research results. D.Potential applications of the research methods. Ⅱ.完形填空 (2024·石家庄市教学质量检测)Jonathan Jones,12,was overcome with emotion after his principal, who is also color blind, let him 1 his unique glasses during science class last week.
