Dad has changed quite a bit! In his thirties, he was quite thin and pale, and he had red, bushy hair. Nowadays, he's well-built and tanned. He's always had a square jaw, but now he's grown a beard. Strangely, his beard is still red even though his hair is turning grey!
Mum looks almost the same, though. She still has smooth skin and straight black hair, and jogging has kept her slim and fit.
然后作者又用“well-built and tanned, a square jaw, his beard is still red, his hair is turning grey”描述了爸爸现在的外貌。 “She still has smooth skin and straight black hair ...slim and fit.”
With just 700 metres to go, Alistair Brownlee was in third place and his younger brother, Jonny, was in the lead. Alistair pushed himself towards the finish line in the burning heat, but as he came round the corner, he saw his brother about to fall onto the track. Alistair had to choose — brotherly love, or a chance to win the race?
(With just 700 metres to go),Alistair处于第三位(in third place),弟弟Jonny处于领先位置(in the lead)。 作者随着人物的位置移动,把场景切换到了“round the corner”,又利用Alistair的视觉感官把读者带入另一幅场景:Alistair看到弟弟Jonny摇摇欲坠地要摔倒在跑道上(about to fall onto the track)。

Suddenly a long shadow came into the bedroom and she started crying. Panicky at first, I then realized that it was just a car passing by. But she felt uneasy, her mouth wide opening, arms waving, and legs kicking, so I had to choose, brotherly love or just going away. Without hesitation, I chose the former. I thought she might be scared, so I held out my hand to hold hers, patting her on the back with the other.I even moved a bit closer to her little bed, whispering my favorite song in her ears, just as my mum did when I got scared. To my surprise, she seemed to understand me and stopped crying. Looking into her big eyes, I breathed a sigh of relief.
After having comforted her, something slowly changed inside me. I guess love is indeed a magical ingredient. My sense of loneliness was replaced by the responsibility of being an elder brother.Even though her arrival took over the center of the whole family initially, she started to become the center of my attention too. With her cute round face and sparkling eyes, she also won my love and care for her. I looked around and found my parents awake, smiling at me. With a shadow of a happy family cast on the window,I felt my little sister was the best gift I'd ever got.
