(2024·重庆模拟)In summer the extreme heat often makes people sweaty and restless. While people are annoyed by it, experts suggest summer is the best season to release your body's toxins (毒素) and recover your energy.
One popular option is hot-stone massage (按摩).Therapists use smooth and heated stones, usually river rocks, to massage certain parts of the body, or place them on key points of the body. The warmth of the hot stones will improve blood circulation and also help relax muscles, while sweating is also believed to be good for releasing the body's toxins.
Another popular option is hot-stone baths. The hot-stone bath will help the body release toxins and humidity that accumulated during the last winter.Summer is the best season to build a good body.Rather than use water or steam to heat and wash the body, people simply wear a coat or something comfortable, and then lie on heated stone tablets, which are warmed to around 45℃.The body will gradually warm up and blood circulation will also be improved.More sweat will come outquickly.
The sweat is smooth and fresh, not smelly like that released after sports activities.Such baths bring a number of health benefits, such as anti-aging, improved blood circulation and stress relief. The slimming effect of dieting can even be promoted.
Using hot stones for healing dates back to ancient times, but the modern renewal of hot-stone massage is generally thanks to Mary Nelson, a native of Tucson, Arizona, America, whose trademark is “LaStone Therapy”.
The therapy (疗法) is gaining wide popularity with many people, especially those who have jobs in cool air-conditioned rooms. The hot-stone therapy can help cure many diseases, including back pain.

(2024·咸阳模拟)Working out for 30 minutes every day “might not be enough” to counter the health issues created by long time sitting, according to a sweeping new study.
The new study, unlike the past ones that examined sitting and formal exercise separately, ignoring light activities, involved 3,702 people to find out how those all affected people's health indices (指数).
With the data collected, researchers characterized people by how they moved. The first group dutifully exercised for a half-hour and then sat, almost nonstop, for more than 10 hours a day.Another group similarly worked out for 30 minutes and sat for long hours. But, in between, they rose often and took walks around, spending time in light activities like fetching another cup of coffee. The third group sat, uninterrupted, for up to 10 hours, but also collected an hour of exercise most days. The final group, which the researchers named “the movers”, exercised about an hour most days, while also moving lightly for about two hours more.
When the researchers cross-checked these groups against people's current health data, the first group had the worst indices. On the contrary, the other groups were all better off and to about the same extent, with relatively improved blood sugar control and cholesterol (胆固醇) levels and about 8 percent less body fat than the first group.
“A single 30-minute, daily workout ‘might not be enough’ to reduce the downsides of long time sitting,” said Vahid Farrahi, the lead author of the new study.“In addition to a brisk (轻快的) workout, we need to move lightly and often, cleaning, taking the stairs, taking a walk in the halls or just not remaining still.”

(2024·山东省实验中学校考)Our local community in Toronto has a way of assisting those who have financial difficulties without making the receiver feel shame or guilt.Money is dropped into an offering box with only the name of the receiver on the envelope. The envelopes are then distributed to those members without them knowing the name of the giver.
There came a time when my husband and I were among those in need. Both of us lost jobs at that time and there was little hope that we could be employed within a short time.Of course, out of self-esteem, we did not talk about our financial difficulty with anyone else. The only reason our children knew was that we had to cut back on many things.Still, we hoped they were not aware of the extent of our need, nor of how much their father and I were suffering because of it.We did not want to burden them with a problem they could do nothing to solve.
With time going by, our situation wasn't improving, and my husband and I knew that we would have to look for outside help.In that cold winter, just as we reached the point of despair, our community gave us a gift envelope that had been left in the offering box.You couldn't imagine how overjoyed we were on receiving such a very substantial amount of money, which was enough to bring us through that desperate time.We couldn't help but wonder who had given such a generous gift.We were extremely relieved and enormously
grateful. In this way, we could survive during this tough period with the money.Besides, we needn't worry about our son's university tuition, that is, he needn't apply for any loan (贷款) because he had taken a part-time job and worked hard to earn some money since he was nine years old.He had been a paper carrier for The Toronto Star, a car washer, a dishwasher and so on.He had been careful for his small earnings so we had trusted him to leave all his wages with him instead of putting it into the bank towards his education.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
A year later, our son was applying for a student loan.
Finally, in tears, my son told me he had put his savings in the offering box for us.
参考范文:
A year later, our son was applying for a student loan.It was then that we discovered that his savings account was almost empty. His father and I were very disturbed by this. What worried me was that he might abuse the money. Therefore, I asked him repeatedly to tell me where the money had gone.At first he would not tell me, which made me even angrier.Nevertheless, I would not let the matter alone.I was continuously questioning him, determined to find out where the money had gone, but in vain.
Finally, in tears, my son told me he had put his savings in the offering box for us.On hearing this, I stood there speechless, tears filling my eyes.It had taken my son years to save that money and he had given it to us willingly — without telling us what he had done. However, I did wrong to him, a kind and caring boy, who carried my husband and me through when we were in trouble.I couldn't help hugging my son tightly. A warm current welled up in my heart, although it was freezing cold outside.
