How about eating dinner before homework? 做作业之前先吃晚饭怎么样? ②Why don’t you + do sth.? = Why not do sth? (你/某人)为什么不做…? 例: Why don’t you go shopping? = why not go shopping? 你为什么不去购物呢? Why don`t you do homework before play? 你为什么不在玩耍前把作业做了呢? ③Let’s + do sth. 让我们做….(吧)! 例: Let’s go shopping 让我们去购物吧! Let`s do some cleaning! 让我们打扫一下吧! 3. aloud, loud与loudly的用法 这三个词含义上都与"大声"或"响亮"有关。 ①aloud是副词, 它只表示声音大的状态, 常用在读书或说话上。通常放在动词之后。并且aloud没有比较级形式。 例: He read the story aloud to his son. 他朗读那篇故事给他儿子听。 She speaks aloud to let everybody hear it. 她说话大声来让每个人都听到它。 ②loud可作形容词或副词。用作副词时,常与speak, talk, laugh等动词连用,多用于比较级,须放在动词之后。 例: She told us to speak a little louder. 她让我们说大声一点。 ③loudly是副词,与loud同义,有时两者可替换使用,但往往含有令人讨厌或打扰别人的意思,可位于动词之前或之后。 例: He does not talk loudly or laugh loudly in public. 他一般不当众大声谈笑。 4. It is(It`s) +形容词+(for 人) to do sth. -(对于某人来说)做某事… 这个句式在中考和高考中都是比较常见并且重要的一个句式,其中的理解顺序为: 1) “for 人” 其中的人要用宾格形式,译为“对某人来说”,但这一部分并非主要内容,有时会省略不写。 2) “to do sth”,译为“做某事”,要注意这里是to do的不定式结构,并且这里的to do在意义上才是真正的主语,要先说。 3) “it is 形容词”,译为“是…的”,这里的it是为了平衡句子结构而加的形式主语。 注意: 这个句子结构其中有很多可以考察的部分有很多,所以需要同学们对于这个句子结构特别熟悉。其中it、for、to do结构要记忆准确。 例: It’s difficult (for me ) to study English.对于我来说学习英语太难了。 It is necessary for students to have a healthy body. 对于学生来说拥有一个健康的身体是很必要的。 5. see的搭配 see为动词,译为“看见/看到”。后面既可以接“do”,也可以接“doing”的搭配,但含义不同: 1) see 人/物 doing,表示 “看见某人正在做某事”,可以理解为恰巧看了一眼,发现某人/物正在做某件事。 例: Jack saw his mother cooking dinner in the kitchen just now. Jack刚才看到妈妈在厨房做午饭。 He saw a little girl crying at the corner of the street when he came back home. 他在回家的路上看到一个小女孩在街角哭泣。 2) see 人/物 do,看着某人做某事。这里指的是看着某人做完了全程,例如see me do homework译为看着我做完了作业。 例: The teacher saw students do exercise in the PE class. 老师看着学生们在体育课上做锻炼。 A father sees his kid playing on the grass. 一个父亲看着孩子们在草地上玩耍。 6. too many & too much & much too 的区别 要想了解这三个的区别,首先要明白两个表达: 1) 例如a big apple和very happy的词组中,核心词为最后一个词。 Too many girls/apples/pencils 太多的女孩/苹果/铅笔 02) too much=much后面接不可数名词。 例: too much milk/bread/water 很多牛奶/面包/水 03) much too=too(very)后面接形容词或副词 例: much too beautiful/bright/slow 太漂亮/明亮/慢 7. the 比较级…;the 比较级… 这个表达译为 “越…;越…”,可以理解为两个含有比较级的普通句子,将里面的比较级提到句首然后加了the。这种表达的目的是用来强调其中的比较级。比如“你的脚越大,你的鞋越大”, 可以先将其写成“your feet are bigger, your shoes are bigger”,然后将其中的比较级提到句首写为 “bigger your feet are, bigger your feet are”,最后再在每句句首加上the,就可以写成最终形式“the bigger your feet are, the bigger your shoes are” 例: The more money you make, the more you spend. 你赚得钱越多,花得钱就越多。 The sooner, the better. 越快越好。 The happier you are, the more friends you will make. 你越开心,你交的朋友就越多。 The harder you work, the greater progress you will make. 你越努力,取得的进步就会越大。 句式精讲 1. Don't read word by word. Read word groups. 不要一个一个字地读,要按意群读。 1) 此句中介词by表示连续或反复,意为 “(一个)接着(一个); (一个)又(一个)”。 例: one by one 一个接一个 little by little 一点一点 year by year 年复一年 step by step 一步一步 They went out of the classroom one by one.他们一个接着一个走出了教室。 2) word group表示“词组; 意群”,指语言使用中表达意思相对完整的一组词语。在口语中,说话者应将其连贯说出,表达一个完整的意思。在阅读时,也应按意群读,以便更好地理解文章意思,加快阅读速度。 2. It takes time. 这得慢慢来。 动词take可用来表示“花费;消耗”时间。但在It takes time.和Please take your time.这样的句子中,它们所表达的意思是“不着急;慢慢来”。 例: You can take your time. 你慢慢来。 A: These dresses are really nice and I can't decide which one to buy. 这几条裙子都很漂亮,我不知道该买哪一条。 B: Well, try them on and see how they look on you. Take your time. There's no hurry. 嗯,把它们都试试,看看穿上怎么样。你慢慢来,不着急。 3. I also learned useful sentences like “It's a piece of cake" or “It serves you right" 我还学会了像“这简直是小菜碟”和“你活该”这样的有用的句子。 a piece of cake和serve somebody right是英语中的两个习惯用语,也可称作习语(idiom)。同汉语中的成语类似,习语是人们在长期的语言运用中确定或形成的一种固定表达方式,其意思往往不是字面所表达的含义。如: a piece of cake表示事情非常简单、易于解决,相当于汉语的“小菜一碟;小事一桩”; serve somebody right则相当于汉语说某人“活该”。 例: It's a piece of cake to you, but for me it's quite different. 那对你来说是小菜碟,但对我而言却完全不同。 A: Tommy came late again and was punished by Mr. Morton. 汤米又迟到了,被莫顿老师罚了。 B: Serves him right. I told him yesterday to arrive early. 他活该,我昨天还告诉他要早到呢。 4. I can't pronounce some of the words. & I can't spell some English words. 有些单词我不会读。 有些英语单词我拼不出来。 以上两个否定句中,只能用some而不用any。因为some表示其中“一些”(单词),并非“全部”单词; 若用any, 那么I can't pronounce/spell any of the words.则表示“所有的单词都不会读(拼写)”。 any强调的是“任何的;所有的”。some和any的运用要看具体的语境和句子所要表达的意义,而不是简单认为否定句和疑问句中不可使用some。在疑问句中,特别是在表示请求、建议和反问时,也往往使用some, 因为some在这些语句中体现的是说话者肯定的含义。 例: Can I have some of your cake? 我可以吃些你的蛋糕吗? Shall we try some local food? 我们尝试一下当地的食物如何? Why can't we just build some more parks? 为什么我们就不能修建更多的公园呢? 5. But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits. 但是你能否做好取决于你的学习习惯。 1)此句中whether or not you can do this well是一个从句, 用作整个句子的主语。这种从句叫作“主语从句”。 例: Whether you did it right or wrong isn't so important. What's important is the experience you gained. 你做对做错都不重要,重要的是你从中获得了经验。 2) whether or not是英语从句的一个连词结构,意思和功能均相当于whether,表示“是否”,常出现在宾语从句、主语从句中。使用时,也可把whether和or not分开,or not放到句尾。 例: I can't tell whether or not the teacher likes me. =I can't tell whether the teacher likes me or not. 7. Knowledge comes from questioning. 知识源于质疑。 question作动词,放在介词from后面要用它的doing形式,在本句中是“质疑;质问”的意思。 例: I just accept what he told me. I never thought to question it. 我只是相信了他告诉我的话,从来没有质疑过。 People would question whether we are telling them the truth. 人们会质问我们是否向他们说了实话。 question用作动词还有 “提问/讯问/审问”的意思。 例: The police questioned him for three hours before letting him go. 瞥察询问了他三个小时方让他离开。 8. Use it or lose it. 用进废退。 这是一条英语谚语。指的是如果你不经常使用或练习你所掌握的技能,你将很快忘掉它。所以,对你的所学进行“加强”或进修是很重要的。否则你将很快忘掉它。在作文中可根据题目正确运用。 9. Practice makes perfect. 熟能生巧。 这句话中的“practice”为名词,意为“练习/锻炼”;“make”也并非我们常见的动词制做,而是“使;让”的含义;perfect为形容词“完美的”。句子的字面意思可以理解为“练习使其完美”,因此意译为“熟能生巧”。同学们也可以根据作文题目正确应用。 Unit 1 综合测试 I. 单项选择(共15小题,每小题1分,共计15分) 1. B My class will put on a short play in English at the end of the year. Yesterday our English teacher gave us copies of the play. “Choose a character in the play whom you'd like to be,” she told us. “This afternoon learn a few lines of this part for homework. Then tomorrow you can say those lines in front of the class. I'll decide who play each part.” I wanted to have one of the bigger parts in the play, so I choose the part of the king. He has a lot of lines to say. I learned them by heart. This morning in our English lesson we had to say our lines. I acted the part of the king. When I said my lines, I put a lot of expression into my acting. I thought I acted really well. Everyone in the class read a part and then the teacher who would play each part. Many of the students in my class couldn't act at all. They couldn't even read without making lots of mistakes. I was sure that I would get a big part in the play. However, the teacher gave me the part of a soldier. He has only one line. It is, “Yes, sir!” I was very disappointed. At the end of the lesson I went up to her and asked her why I had such a small part. “You put too much expression in your acting,” she said. “Good acting is not big acting. It is acting the audience can believe in.” I think I know what she means. 1. What did the boy want to do in the play? A. To get an important part B. To organize the play C. What does the underlined word “expression” in the passage mean? A. 表情 B. 建议 C. 模仿 D. 服饰 C Have you ever wondered why Americans write “color” while British people write “colour"? Is it because they are lazy? Of course not. In fact, the different spelling goes back to Noah Webster. He was born in the state of Connecticut in America, and later he became a teacher. He changed British English so that Americans could have their own language. In 2018, people celebrated his 260th birthday at Yale University. In 1776, the year when America got independence from Britain, the new country had a number of languages. About 60 percent of the country spoke English. However, English speakers from different places spoke and wrote differently. Webster believed that to unite(联合) the new nation, the people should have one language. He also believed their dictionaries should not depend on British ones. So he made spellings easier for children to learn. He dropped the British “u” in some words like “neighbor”, and changed “centre” to “center” to help children spell them more like they sounded. Webster traveled across the country to sell his books. Webster began working on his dictionary in 1800, and he wasn't shy about bringing his own opinions into this dictionary. He finished the 70,000-word dictionary in 1825. He also added some local words and new wonders like gaslights (煤气灯). Joshua Kendall, who is working on a biography(传记) of Webster, says that he has helped make American English and the American character. 1. When was Noah Webster born? A. In 1758. B. In 1800. C. He thought that Americans should have one language. D. He helped make American English and the American character. 5. What do we know about Noah Webster' s dictionary? A. It has about 7,000 words altogether. B. It is different from the British one only in spelling. C. It drops the British “u” in all American English words. D. It took Noah Webster 25 years to finish the dictionary. D Note-taking is a skill that can help you do well in all your schoolwork. It can make you confident when you are studying. But unluckily, most students don 't know how to take notes. Write down key facts. If your teacher writes notes on the blackboard, that 's great. You can copy them or write down the most important facts of all in class. Different teachers do things differently. For example, some teachers may focus on(关注) lots of dates and facts in class, but they only write the important ones on the blackboard. Other teachers may not write anything down, but they may say something important aga1n and again. Ask. Don't be afraid to ask your teacher to repeat what you miss. If your teacher speaks too fast and you can 't follow what he is saying, you can ask him after class. Compare. Comparing your notes with your classmates' can be good for your learning. It can also help you and your classmates correct (纠正) some mistakes. Organize. Note-taking also needs organization. Keep notes for each subject in one notebook, so that you can find everything easily when a test comes. Good note-taking takes time. If you decide to recopy your notes every evening, you'll surely have less time to watch TV. But you'll save time in the coming test. 1. There are main points about note-taking in this passage. IV. 任务型阅读(共5题,满分10分) Do you speak English fluently, but still have some problems with English grammar? Maybe you “picked up” English from movies and songs but had no time to study grammar. The good news is that if you want to learn English grammar, there are a lot of things you can do to teach yourself. Find some grammar exercises. You'll need to understand why each sentence is written in that way. When you read a sentence, ask yourself if you can make a similar sentence. If you can't or you're not sure, find textbook exercises for those grammar points and practice. Ask native speakers for advice. If you know some native English speakers, ask if they could check some of your writing now and then. If there are no native English speakers near you, search online to find the answers. 1,2题完成句子;3题简略回答问题;4题找出并写下第三段的主题句;5题将文中画线句子译成汉语。 1.
