It wasn’t long before the boy also began suffering terrible headaches. In February a 1.7-inch tumor (肿瘤) was found in his brain and Conner was set to begin to receive radiation (放射疗法) treatments. Before treatments start, doctors make a white plastic mask to keep patients immovable and protect unaffected parts of the brain while radiation is directed at the tumor. It’s an unpleasant experience and a frightening time. The doctor Cook decided that the masks could at least be made to look like something fun — maybe Batman or Mickey Mouse. “I started thinking these masks are white and not fun at all for kids,” she told The Greenville News. “I felt like if we could make it a little more fun for them, they might be a little more excited about coming in for the treatment. Because the kids are afraid. While the treatment itself isn’t physically painful, it can cause a lot of anxiety (焦虑). And the treatment is required daily for up to six weeks.” And the masks really make a difference. “The kids really like them,” Cook said. “It makes what is, let’s face it, a terrible experience, a nice experience because they get to choose something themselves.” When new children come in for the treatment, Cook finds out what their favorite movies or cartoon characters are. Then she sets about creating the mask by drawing the image she wants onto paper, sticking it with glue(胶水), and once it’s dry, she applies the colors using paints. Each child can take the mask home once the treatment ends. “Coming to the doctor always means fear and pain. I wanted to make it fun,” she said. “The kids really love it. It’s something they enjoy and can relate to. And it fills an interest I have. I get great pleasure from it.” 24. Why was the plastic mask used according to Paragraph 1? A. Kindness can bring warmth and joy. C. Health matters to everyone. D. Creativity leads to success. C Have you ever run into a careless cell phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new ‘species’ of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name — phubbers(低头族). Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people under the spotlight. In the short film, phubbers with various social identities bury themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his cell phone while letting his patient die, a pretty woman takes selfie in front of a car accident site, and a father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A chain of similar events eventually leads to the destruction(毁灭) of the world. Although the ending sounds overstated(夸大), the damage phubbing can bring is real. Your health is the first to bear the effect and result of it. “Constantly bending your head to check your cell phone could damage your neck,” Guangming Daily quoted doctors as saying. “the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching.” Also, staring at cell phones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report. But that’s not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions with family or friends, many people tend to stick to their cell phones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Qilu Evening News reported. It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their cell phones in broad daylight. 28. For what purpose does the author give the example of a cartoon in Paragragh2? A.To advertise the cartoon made by students. B.To inform people of the bad effects of phubbing. C. To show the world will finally be destroyed by phubbers. D. To warn doctors against using cell phones while treating patients. 29. Which of the following is NOT a risk a phubber may have? A. His social skills could be affected. B. He will cause the destruction of the world. C. His neck and eyesight will be gradually harmed. D. He might get separated from his friends and family. 30. Which of the following may be the author’s attitude towards phubbing? A. Supportive. B. Opposed. C. Optimistic. D. Objective. 31. What may the passage talk about next? A. Ways to reduce the risks of phubbing. B. Advice on how to use a cell phone. C. People lost in phubbing. D. results of phubbing. D You’re sitting on the sofa, and there’s your dog, right at your feet. You stand up? He stands up. But then you head to the bathroom, and guess who comes with? Why, your dog, of course. But why? Why does your dog follow you like a shadow, no matter where you go? Ever get the feeling you're being followed? As for why your companion follows you everywhere you go, read on! “When dogs follow their owners, there can be several scientific explanations, depending on the dog and the individual situation,” according to Mary Burch, Ph.D., an animal behaviorist. These explanations include: Positive reinforcement (强化): When your dog follows you, good things happen. Think dog food, a hot bath and taking a walk around the neighborhood. Your dog’s no dummy. And one of his many talents is learning from experience, that is“reinforcement.” Natural instinct (本能) to be part of a pack: In fact, a study out of PrincetonUniversity that was published in the journal, Science Advances, shows that your dog’s drive to follow you around (as well as watch you attentively and seek physical contact from you) lies in his genes. Feel good chemicals: Your presence causes your dog’s brain to release “feel good” chemicals, Dr. Primm explains, citing this study. Considering how much we as humans enjoy those feel-good chemicals, it’s no surprise your dog likes them too—and will follow you around to get some! Sense of responsibility. As you move about your home, your dog might feel that you are patrolling your territory (巡视领地) and take on the duty to assist you. 32.What is the passage mainly about? A. Explanations for some dog behaviors. B. Some natural instincts of the dogs. C. The reasons why dogs follow you. D. Dogs are good friends of human. 33. How does the author introduce the topic? A. By listing numbers. B. By giving examples. C. By telling a story. D. By making a survey. 34. What does the underlined word “dummy” mean in Para 5? A. Cute. B. considerate.(体贴的) C. stupid. D. lovely. 35. Why does the dog like to be part of a pack? A. Dog’s brain releases chemicals. B. Dogs have sense of responsibility. C. It is passed from elder generations. D. This kind of behaviour is reinforced. 第2节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下列短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 As teens grow older, it’s normal for them to spend more time with friends. We had to pack up and move away from everything we were familiar with. There were so many changes. We came from the north, and now we were almost as far south as possible. We landed in South Florida, and we were total strangers. We moved over during the summer vacation, so I didn’t have to deal with school right away. Summer passed by while we unpacked, arranged furniture, found stores we liked, and adapted to the Sunshine State. School was coming, and I was afraid of it. I was not an adventurous person. Being shy and quiet, I read a lot and did not make friends easily. My head was filled with fears and worries. Would I make friends? Would I fit in? Would I survive in this strange new world? Anyway, there I was, attending a new school full of people I didn’t know. I had a difficult time adapting to the new school. However, I still loved learning and reading. I even loved homework, and I was good at doing my homework. Loving books and reading helped me to get good grades. Teachers loved that about me. Other kids, though, did not. Although I always answered questions in class, I seldom talked with my classmates. I was unpopular. I felt like a total failure and nobody would like me. Then one day, a tall boy walked over to me after an English class. He introduced himself and told me he was in the school basketball team. I knew him — he was the star player! “Hey,” he said. “You do really well in English class. And you know, my teammates and I spend much time competing and practising. The subjects, especially English, really bother us. Do you think you could help us?” “Yes. Oh, definitely yes. I could, and I would,” I replied with surprise. We made the deal with an exchange of smiles. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: Something gradually changed after that. _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Meanwhile, the basketball players taught me how to play basketball.____________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ 内江一中高一英语3月月考参考答案 第一部分 听力 1—5 CCAAB 6—10 ABACA 11—15 BCABC 16—20 BCBBA 第二部分 阅读理解 第一节 21---23 CBA 24—27DCCB 28-31 BBBA 32-35 CBCC 第二节 36---40 DFBEG 第三部分 语言知识运用完形填空 第一节 完形填空 41---45 BACDA 46---50 BCDDB 51---55 DABCA 第二节 语法填空 56. working 57. amazing 58. illness 59. to take 60. traveled/travelled 61. pictures 62. Yours, Li Hua 第二节 读后续写 参考范文: Finally, I arrived home, and I began crying when I saw my mom. "Mom, I was scared to death on the way home just now, and a bad man followed me all the time. Fortunately, I hid behind the car, and he didn't find me, so he left." I said incoherently. After hearing this, my mother also showed a frightened expression on her face. She said, "Fortunately, you're safe. But where's your father? Isn't he picking you up?" I showed an aggrieved expression and said, "I waited for him outside for a while, but he didn't turn up. I thought it was time to go home, so I came back first. " At this time, my father hurried in, and he said to his mother, "I didn't get our daughter. When I went to pick her up, I didn't see her. Her friend said she had gone home. I chased out, and it seemed that I saw her on the road, but she disappeared in a moment." Hearing what my dad said, my mom couldn't help laughing. Mother said cunningly, "Look, who's that?" Then she winked at me. My father turned to look at me, and then showed a relieved and surprised expression. He asked me, "Didn't you hear me when I called you? What were you running for?" I smiled awkwardly, glanced at my mother, and then said, "well..., I was very afraid, thinking you were a bad person, so I hid." Dad laughed after listening, and encouraged me that I did well and know how to protect myself. But my father also said at least I should look around. In fact, sometimes things are not as bad as I think. After that, I realized that excessive fear will affect our judgment and thinking, so no matter what happens, we should be calm. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
