(2024·江苏徐州·一模)“You know, when I was your age, I experienced the same things that you are now having to deal with. So you need to take my advice!”
Are you familiar with these words? I think most of you are. Elderly people always like to tell young people to listen to them. They give a variety of reasons for why we should do so. But should we take all of the advice that is offered to us by our parents? I don’t think so. We should definitely follow some of our parents’ advice, but not all of it. We must learn to form our own opinions.
Our parents are from a totally different generation. For example, our lessons are much more difficult than theirs when they were students. We are also under much more pressure than they once were. Most of our parents suggest we should make use of every minute to study hard. They consider doing anything else a waste of time. In view of the stressful lives that we now lead, such advice is unreasonable. It might only do harm to us. We must say no to it.
On the other hand, we shouldn’t simply turn a deaf ear to our parents’ advice, either. Our parents have more life experiences than we do. They have dealt with many difficulties. We should sincerely take their advice as long as it is reasonable.
In conclusion, we should listen to our parents selectively. Always think twice about their advice.
1.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.We shouldn’t follow our parents’ advice to form our own opinions.

D.All of our parents advise us to make use of every minute to study hard.
2.What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.The advice that we should make use of time to study hard.
B.The advice that we should do everything for our parents.
C.The unreasonable advice that our parents provide for us.
D.The advice that we should live a stressful life.
3.Why is the advice given by our parents sometimes unreasonable?
A.Because our parents are from the same generation as us.
B.Because they were once under much more pressure than we are.
C.Because they used to have much more difficult lessons than we have.
D.Because our parents are from a different generation.
4.What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Think twice about our parents’ advice.
B.Sincerely take our parents’ advice.
C.Say no to our parents’ advice.
D.Form our own opinions instead of taking our parents’ advice.

Li Meixi, 12, feels worried about her looks—not her face, but her clothes. When she sees stylish people on the street, she avoids running into them. “I am afraid that they think I am out of style. Ashamed of my ordinary outfit, I feel like I don’t even deserve (值得) to walk on the same street with them,” said Li, from Chengdu, Sichuan.
What Li is experiencing is fashion anxiety. It bothers many people today. They are worried about their clothes, afraid of being seen out of style.
A big reason for fashion worries is fashion bullying, experts said. As fashion magazines, advertisements and idols show off the “latest and greatest” trends (潮流), there’s a lot of pressure on people, especially teenagers, to follow them, no matter how expensive it might be. “The need to belong in groups is very important to young learners and exclusion (排斥) is something they see as the end of the world,” said Andy Crankarm, a teacher at City of Bristol College, the UK.
Another reason why some people might have fashion worries is that they don’t have a sense of self-identity (自我认同). It looks like we feel worried about our clothes, but actually we are not confident enough. So we care about how fashionable people look at us. We easily doubt or even blame ourselves. The reality is that those people usually don’t notice us at all.
Fashion trends come and go, always changing. Instead of rushing to follow a trend, the key is to find your own style. If you’re able to wear something with confidence, you will be the one starting a trend. More importantly, the clothes are just a part of your image (形象). It can’t tell the true you. What also matters is your personality and abilities.

② Teenagers like to wear expensive clothes.
③ People worry about or doubt themselves.

12.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.The fashion trend is part of our daily life.
B.Finding our own style is following the trend.
C.It’s always necessary for teenagers to follow the trends.
D.Personality and abilities are also important to our images.
13.What might be the best title for the passage?

(23-24九年级下·江苏扬州·阶段练习)Did you get spanked (打屁股) by your parents when you were a child? Do you still remember how you felt inside? Anyhow, let’s see some researches about punishment on children together.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) (儿科) said parents who punish their children can do harm to the children in many ways. It’s proved that different types of punishment, such as shouting at children, shaming children or some physical punishment are useful in the short term, not in the long term. And physical punishment can lead to an increased risk of negative behavioral, cognitive (认知的) and emotional results for children.
Dr. Jennifer Shu, both a pediatrician and a writer, presented the AAP’s findings and showed that spankings is harmful than good when it comes to a child’s development. “Physical punishment may cause learning problems, problems with vocabulary and memory, and some aggressive (攻击性的) behavior. Even the brain may not grow or develop with physical punishment.” said Shu.
Language Violence (暴力) found by AAP is harmful to a child’s health as well. It can change the brain structure, cause stress and lead to health problems as well as emotional problems during children’s growth.
So how can we raise healthy children with effective punishment? There are two less harmful ways: rewarding good behavior and keeping consistent (一致) with expectations. After taking a break, parents can take a deep breath and help the children calm down, and then see why that behavior was not good.
We do need to avoid ineffective punishment on children because it does great harm to children’s mind and body. It’s time to say no. It’s time to change.

(2024·安徽合肥·一模)It’s often said that children are the apple of their parents’ eyes. As a son or daughter, you may also want to make your parents proud. Here are certain things you can do.Talk to them as often as you can
Every parent wants their children to trust them enough to talk to them when they are happy and when they are feeling low. Therefore, don’t be afraid to call your parents when you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, just as the same way you would call them when happy. Share your achievements, both big and small. Your parents are your biggest cheerleaders.Have patience with them
One of the best things you can do for your parents is to be patient with them, which makes them feel loved and appreciated. As they grow older, you need to understand that they become slower or may do things differently from the way they used to. Therefore be patient with them.Be ready to help at home
If you live at home, you can be a good son or daughter by helping around with house chores. Start by making sure that your parents don’t have to clean for you. Keep your room tidy and help to keep other areas of the home clean. Help with washing, make dinner and even set the table. Helping around makes sure they have time to rest and do other things. It feels good when they know they have someone who can keep things together at home.Respect them
You can do everything on this list, but without respecting your parents, nothing else you do matters. When they are talking, you listen and do not interrupt (打断) them. If you have done wrong, apologize and avoid repeating the same mistake again. When you are out with friends, call your parents and let them know you’re okay. When you show them respect, it can help you build good relationship with your parents.

(2024·江苏宿迁·二模)Nowadays, teenagers are committing more crimes. Countries around the world try hard to avoid youth crimes.
The parents of a US boy were found guilty of involuntary manslaughter (过失杀人罪) because they didn’t stop their son from shooting (枪击) at school in Michigan, US. They were sentenced (判刑) to 10 to 15 years in prison on April 9 while the boy was sentenced to life.
This is the first time in the US that parents have been punished for what their child did in a mass shooting. Prosecutors argued that the parents ignored (忽视) clear signs of their son’s mental health problems and they even bought the gun he used in the 2021 attack. The boy was 15 years old when he killed four students and made seven others wounded at Oxford High School in Michigan.
“Opportunity (机会) knocked over and over again, louder and louder, and it was ignored,” Judge (法官) Cheryl Matthews told the court.
When kids do really bad things, like shootings, it makes people all over the world think about how to stop the tragedies (悲剧) from happening again. While most countries and regions have made 12 or 14 the lowest age for being held responsible for a crime, some tried to lower the age of criminal responsibility (刑事责任).
In 2010, Denmark lowered its age from 15 to 14. But it didn’t stop 14-year-olds from committing crimes. Instead, punishment made it harder for them to go back to school. That led to worse behaviors and an increasing number of youths committing crimes again. So, two years later, Denmark put the lowest age of criminal responsibility back to 15 years old.
In Germany, the government focuses more on teaching and helping young people who commit crimes, rather than just punishing them. As noted in a 2018 paper published in the Justice Evaluation Journal, they try to educate and guide young people to live better lives, instead of just putting them in prison.

A.The causes of youth crime.
B.The roles parents play in youths’ development.

(2023·江苏常州·一模)In my opinion, the generation gap(代沟) is a result of our “pride” and “prejudice” (偏见). Since I started junior high school, my parents and I have had different opinions. Both sides won’t yield. My mother always ends by telling me that, “A child knows nothing about this!”, and I often ask, “Are you still living in the 20th century?”
As we grow up, we have our own values and beliefs slowly. The fact is that we are growing up in two different centuries. So it is common for us to have developed values that are different from those of our parents.
But our parents always think we are still little kids. It seems that they don’t want to accept the fact that we are growing up. When we grow up, we feel a strong need to show ourselves, but our parents don’t want to listen to us. Instead, they think they are always right. Why are they unable to open their hearts and talk more with their children so that their children can feel loved and understood?
I think both sides must give up their pride and prejudice and build equality and trust. Only in this way will the generation gap be smaller.

31.The writer wrote this passage to help parents and teenagers .

(23-24九年级上·江苏南京·期中)As soon as Ryan Marcelo turns on his computer, time seems to stop. After starting playing his favourite game, his eyes fixed on the characters on the screen. “I play every day, sometimes for more than four hours,” Ryan, a 14-year-old Canadian boy, said, “When I finish playing, my eyes are heavy and I just feel really tired.”
A familiar(熟悉的) story? In families with children and computers, there’s a good chance of meeting children like Ryan, who spend too much time in front of their computers. And these children are starting to feel pains as a result of long-time computer use.
“What we’re seeing is that children’s levels of computer-related (由电脑引起的) discomfort are close to adults,” said Ms. Fraser, an engineer. “They’re reporting that they have problems with their eyes, and that they’re feeling discomfort in their necks, backs and in their hands, arms and wrists.”
A research report show show computing has become an everyday part of life for Canadian children. Nearly 40%of children aged 4 to 11 have their own computers, and more than 20% have mobile phones. They use them to send messages to friends too often.
But is the growing use of technology among children the main reason for computer-related health problems? Although there is little research in this area, the few studies suggest that such problems are quite common among children and teens. The researchers studied students aged 10 to 17 with laptop programmes. They found that about 60% said they felt uncomfortable, mostly in the neck and shoulder areas.
Part of the problem is that many of today’s computer games aren’t specially designed for children’s hands. Also most keyboards and computer mouses are too big for them. When children use the computer, they’re usually sitting in an adult-sized chair facing an adult-sized desk. And they need to take breaks—once every 20 minutes—where they get up for at least two minutes and walk.

A.Ryan’s Health Problem B.Say No to Video Games
C.Technology Leads to Health Problems D.Video Games are a Pain
(22-23九年级上·江苏宿迁·期末)Nowadays, many children spend hours a day looking at computer screens or other digital (数码的) products. Some eye doctors say all the screen time has caused more children to have what they call computer vision syndrome (视力综合症). Nathan Warford is an optometrist (验光师) in the US. He says he has seen more children having eye problems.
“More children come into my office because their parents have noticed that they have headaches or red eyes,or because their degree of short-shortsightedness appears to be increasing (增加) very fast and they’re worried,” he said.
Dr.Warford says part of the problem is that even if their eyes start to feel uncomfortable or they start to get a headache, some children don’t tell their parents, because they don’t want their games or the computer to be taken away.
Another part of the problem is that people blink (眨眼睛) less often when they look at the screen. A person who uses a computer or a digital product blinks about one third as much as we normally do in everyday life. If eyes can’t stay wet or are too tired, they will not be protected like normal.
51.Which of the following may be caused by too much screen time?

(22-23九年级上·江苏南通·期末)Most American teenagers can’t wait to kick away their “metal mouth” nickname (绰号). They count down the days they can finally take their braces (牙箍) off. However, trendy (追求时髦的) teenagers in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand can’t wait to get them on, even if they don’t need them.
Braces are the latest teenage fashion trend in Southeast Asia. Having a mouthful of metal has become so popular with Asian teens that there have been reports of many teens wearing fake (假冒的) braces. There even appear cheaper do-it-yourself braces such as “Hello Kitty” or “Mickey Mouse” for a price of around $100.
Braces are considered as a sign of wealth in Southeast Asia. A real set of braces costs around $1,200, which is a large amount for the country with a GDP of $345 billion, compared to the US which had a GDP of $1, 506 Trillion (a Trillion is 1, 000 billion) last year.
While Asian teens may think their colorful fake braces are cool, experts say that these trendy fashion braces can cause illness and even lead to death. According to the New York Daily News, fake fashion braces have already been connected to the deaths of two teens in Thailand. A 17-year-old boy in the northeast city of Khon Kaen died from heart failure caused by a thyroid infection (甲状腺感染) from a pair of fake braces. Police also connected the death of another 14-year-old girl in Chonburi to a pair of fashion braces she had bought from an illegal (非法的) shop. Although the government is giving warnings about fake braces, the trend has been going strong for at least four years. What’s worse, the trend for fake braces shows no sign of slowing down.

(2022·江苏南通·中考真题)Many Chinese primary and middle-school students can’t do housework today and do not take such work seriously. As a result, some are unable to cook or wash their own clothes when they enter college.
The Ministry of Education has recently released the new curriculum standard(新课程标准) for housework education for students from Grade 1 to Grade 9, making it an independent course that students must take at least once a week. The new standard requires students in Grade 1-2 to learn to sweep the floor, Grade 3-4 to learn to plant cabbages, and Grade 5-6 to master the skills of cooking two to three dishes. Students in junior middle schools will learn to repair simple electrical machines. This new standard has been widely welcomed by the public.
Wang: We all know the importance of housework education. However, at home, some students are unable to do the simplest housework, as their parents insist they should devote themselves to study. Some of them gradually grow to be unwilling to do any kind of housework. Housework education is supposed to raise students’ interest in labor, help them experience different kinds of housework and, most importantly, correct their attitudes toward labor. The housework course will become an important step to develop and improve personalities of students.
Li: In order for students to develop in an all-round way, it’s absolutely necessary to add the housework course to school curriculums, which aims to encourage students in primary and secondary schools to progressively learn and love housework. It is important to make the housework class interesting, so that the students will really gain some practical skills. For this reason, schools should add professional(专业的) teachers to give the classes, instead of adding this new stress on parents and other teachers who are already busy with their daily work.
Zhang: Some people think it’s unnecessary to waste time on learning housework. If you want to have a meal, you can order food online, and for electrical machine repairs, you can ask for specialized help. However, people with the basic skills for daily life can go much more confidently and smoothly through everyday life.
It is the first step in encouraging young students to develop a healthy concept(观念) of labor and to be able to take care of themselves in daily life.

It is good to know that your parents will offer you a shoulder to cry on when you meet setbacks (挫折). Would it still be welcome if your mother gave up her job in order to be closer to you all the time?
Many parents in China have chosen to do so. They stay home to cook healthy food and help children with their homework, reported 21th Century Business Herald and some even rent (租) a small room near their children’s school to save their time. Such parents have got the nickname of “helicopter (直升机) parents”, which means they always closely hover around their children.

(23-24九年级上·江苏泰州·期末)A mobile phone is used by almost everyone today. However, many people cannot get rid of (摆脱) mobile phones because phones have become part of daily life.
As the addiction (瘾) to the smartphone has become a serious problem, it causes many problems in life. Most phone users look down at their phones for a long time. When hunching (弓背) or bending their neck, they put serious pressure (压力) on the neck and backbone. And this will cause a sore back or a neck ache. According to studies, as high as 45% of the young people from age 16 to 24 these days suffer back pain because of the heavy usage of smartphones. Also, trying to focus on and look at the screen of the phone for a long time will discomfort eyes and may cause loss of vision (视力) . Besides, if someone brings the phone to sleep with, he or she will unconsciously (无意地) spend more time on the phone than sleep. It’s true that phones make life more convenient, but that doesn’t mean they can take control of life.

At that time, you can spend time on anything but phone so that you won’t check on your phone. Just like smoking, phone addiction is a habit. (23-24九年级下·江苏南京·阶段练习)Lauren Child is doing an important task. She is the author who wins the prize for children’s books. She also draws pictures of many successful books. Now she wants to get more young people doing…well, nothing. It’s a part of her new project to encourage children to put down their mobile phones, look into space and start thinking more creatively.
Whether it’s making sculptures out of toast, creating a mini world or building a 3D space of your own, there are lots of suggestions in Child’s new series of books to give you inspirations and encouragement. “Everything is creative thinking; you can’t invent something or solve a problem without that time to think,” she tells The Week Junior. “It means you’re being asked to spend some time thinking about things.”
Part of the reason why young people aren’t spending enough time thinking creatively, says Child, is phone use. It’s not that she is against phones—it’s just that you are too concentrated on it and you need to know what it is more important. “Sometimes you can be in a room with someone else and they’re so concentrated in using mobile phones that you don’t think they’re really there with you,” she says. “It’s so easy to lose attention to a phone, even at mealtimes, but you’re not living in the now. You’re not communicating with your immediate world.”
Now Child wants to challenge herself to take just 15 minutes to put phone aside and be bored, and then try to get out of that boring feeling. “When I’m walking along the street try to look up more to notice buildings I’ve never seen before. Or I’ll look down at the street to see what someone has dropped or thrown away. If I see a pair of gloves, I’ll think, who left them there? This is where a story can start.”

(2024·江苏苏州·二模)A new research has shown that almost half of teenagers across the UK feel addicted (上瘾的) to using social media. It was done by a team at the University of Cambridge England. They used data from the Millennium Cohort Study, also known as “Child of the New Century”. This is a project that is tracking (追踪) the lives of around 19,000 young people born between 2000 and 2002 in the UK. The study aims to learn about people’s lifestyles over a long time.
When the young people in the study were between the ages of 16 and 18, they were asked about social media for the first time. A group of 7,022 were asked if they agreed of disagreed with the statement “I think I am addicted to social media”. The results showed that 48% either agreed or strongly agreed with the statement. More girls agreed with the statement than boys.
Georgia Turner, who led the team studying the survey results, said that “feeling addicted” to something isn’t necessarily the same as actually “being addicted”. However, she added that it’s not very nice to feel like you don’t have control over your behaviour. “It’s quite striking that so many people feel like that,” said Turner.
Researchers think the study is important to help understand young people’s behaviour when they are using social media. The information could be used to find ways to help young people develop a healthier relationship with social media and spend less time using it.

(2024·江苏常州·一模)If I had a cold, I wouldn’t think twice about telling my friends or my doctor. For some reason, however, mental (心理的) health is not treated in the same way.
At my primary school, mental health was not discussed even once as far as I can remember. This makes me wonder how many other schools are failing to educate their students on this topic. It makes me sad that children growing up with mental illness may feel like it is something to be ashamed of (对……感到羞耻的) because it is never discussed. When I reached high school, mental health was still seldom discussed. But when it was in the topic of health or biology class, I was given a broad idea that mental illness was a “thing” that really lies.
In my opinion, overstressed high school students could benefit (获益) greatly from more deep discussions about how to deal with mental health problems, such as how to know when you should care about yourself or a friend, or who to reach out for help. I know my friends and I could have (本可以) benefited. Even if you personally have never faced mental health problems, someone you know is sure to have, and you can offer timely help.
I believe we need to normalize (使……正常化) discussions about mental health at an early age, rather than hiding them from sight. At school, I saw a student’s report on mental health education and how it can be carried out in the American school system. The student used the film Inside Out (头脑特工队) to explain feelings to younger kids. This report made me believe that it is possible to start these discussions at a young age if we try.
Although we can’t change the way people think about mental health over one night, there are still things we can do. Asking our friends how they’re feeling is a good start.

A.It was dealt with in detail. B.It was paid no attention to.

A.High school students are under increasing stress these days.
B.There is an increased awareness of mental health problems.
C.Many students are ashamed of having mental health problems.
D.The writer might have had mental health problems in high school.
83.What did the writer learn from the student’s report?
A.Kids who are healthy outside might be ill inside.
B.Mental health discussions can be held with young kids.
C.The American school system is open to mental health education.
D.Watching educational films can help children with mental illness.
84.What is the best title for the text?
