B (23-24高一上·全国·单元测试)“Believe in yourself.” “It’s okay to be different.” These are a few of the encouraging messages and words of wisdom callers hear when they call the Peptoc Hotline. It’s part of a public art project created by teachers Jessica Martin and Asherah Weiss with students at West Side Elementary School, in Healdsburg, California. Since starting in late February, the hotline has quickly become a global sensation (全球轰动的事). This was a surprise. “We planned this project to be just for our little town,” Martin told TIME for Kids. After all, the community had been through so much. Wildfires. COVID-19. And yet, Martin says of her students, “They’re resilient (适应力强的) and keep their happiness.” The Peptoc project celebrates this through art. The Peptoc project includes two parts: encouraging posters and the Peptoc Hotline. To come up with ideas for posters, Weiss and Martin showed students work by other artists. And they asked questions: How can I support someone else? How has someone else supported me? Together, kids have put up more than 150 posters around Healdsburg so far. “Kids just ran with it,” Weiss says. “It didn’t take a lot to get them going.” Next, Martin invited kids to record talks for the telephone hotline. Ask a kid for advice, she says, and “they can come up with three or four different ideas.” Their quick thinking “is also a testament (证明) to the teachers and families that have been helping them over the past few years.” In its first six weeks, Martin says, the Peptoc Hotline got nearly 5 million calls from around the world. “Peptoc is so popular because most people need something to make them feel good in these times,” fifth-grader Darin Juric told TFK. For Martin and Weiss, the project shows students that small acts can have a big influence. “I think kids need to understand that they have great power,” Martin says. “It really does just take a few words of kindness to encourage others.” 4.What do we know about the Peptoc Hotline? A.It has been run for many years. B.It was started by a school teacher alone. C.It spreads encouraging messages to callers. D.It hoped to help students around the world at first. 5.What does the Peptoc project celebrate? A.Students’ big progress in school. B.Students’ great attitude to life. C.The development of art. D.Teachers’ hard work. 6.What does Martin think of the kids? A.They are getting creative. B.They need more support. C.They should learn from famous artists. D.They should spend time helping others. 7.What can we infer about the project from the last paragraph? A.It is making a big difference. B.It is going through a difficult time. C.It has not been accepted by the public. D.It has helped many students to get great grades. C (22-23高一上·全国·单元测试)One Moore Elementary School teacher is showing students the importance of communication through “shoutouts”. The thirdgrade teacher Lindsey Winders said a shoutout is a compliment (称赞) that students can say or write down. “Like, ‘Hey, I noticed you doing a really great job solving your maths problems yesterday. I wanted to make sure you know that I saw you do that,’” Winders said. Winders said she makes sure she is giving shoutouts to her students every day. “I might write them a sticky note, or write them a quick little note in their planner. I might just say it to them on their way into the classroom or on their way out of the classroom. But most importantly, I try to do it every day,” Winders said. In addition to the compliments, Winders has the students greet each other every morning during the morning meeting. She will have students give examples to the class of how to communicate in different settings (场景). A thirdgrade student Nayelli Moranchel said he had given at least six shoutouts this year. “It makes me happy, because they always write something back,” Moranchel said. Recently, Winders took it one step further and wrote a personalised note on each of her students’ desks. “In our classroom, sometimes it can be challenging for me to give a compliment or a shoutout to each and every one of them in a way that is equal and valuable at the same time. So I decide that there is no better way than leaving a note on their desks that can stay for as long as they want it to,” Winders said. Winders said it is encouraging when she sees her students copy the act and give each other compliments without her guidance. 8.How does Winders show her students the importance of compliments? A.By helping them take notes. B.By making practical plans for them. C.By serving as a daily example herself. D.By greeting them during the morning meeting. 9.What is the best way that Winders finds to give her students compliments? A.Leaving a note on each student’s desk. B.Praising them as long as they want it. C.Explaining the value of compliments. D.Giving them shoutouts at the same time. 10.What can we infer about Winders’ way of praising students? A.It is very successful. B.It is facing challenges. C.It needs proper guidance. D.It is copied by other teachers. 11.What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Giving a shoutout. B.Solving maths problems. C.Teaching important lessons. D.Writing down the names of students. D (23-24高一上·全国·课后作业)I was said to be the worst student in my class and my family thought I was hopeless. I had to repeat the sixth grade. At that time a new teacher, Miss Sadia, came to our school. One day after class, she noticed that I was staying alone during the lunch break. She came to me and began to talk to me. It was just a normal conversation: After that day, she gave me much attention and it made me feel special. I started to go all out because she gave me the feeling that someone believed me, and my grades started to improve in her subject. Months later, she moved into a house near my home. We would walk home together after start school. Her constant support helped me, especially in my studies, as I knew she would check my grades both in her subject and the other subjects. I finally came second in my class. Then, after the sixth grade, she started to drift apart but still kept a check on me. By the time I was in the seventh grade, she hardly spoke to me, but by then I had become the best in my class. When I left school, I was out of touch with her as she never answered the phone when I called her. Then I graduated and went to a good university. One fine day, our paths crossed again. I met her at a wedding. I could not help asking her,“Why did you stop talking to me?” “You are a clever boy. I wanted you to be a tree standing on your own roots, not depending on others. Now here you are and I feel proud of you. You are your inspiration and do not need to look for a shoulder,” she said. I could not say anything, but I smiled. I’ll always thank her. 12.What can we know about the author in his first sixth grade? A.He did very badly in his studies. B.He found his teacher the worst. C.He didn’t talk with his parents. D.He was hopeful about his future. 13.What made the author decide to work hard? A.An unusual conversation. B.His previous teacher’s support. C.His parents encouragement. D.Miss Sadia’s special attention. 14.What does the underlined phrase “drift apart” in Paragraph 4 most probably mean? A.Be more friendly. B.Get angry. C.Move away. D.Become less close. 15.Why did Miss Sadia stop talking to the author? A.Because she just disliked talking to him. B.Because she wanted him to grow independent C.Because she was too busy with her own wedding. D.Because she had no way to get in touch with him. 第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 (23-24高一上·全国·单元测试)In 2017, Persie Duong moved from Vietnam to Australia to complete his final two years of high school. We were not sure if we could really raise money by going up to some strangers' houses and asking to make a donation. We sat down on the blue carpeted floor of the band room where everyone was waiting for their name to be called to see which group they were in. Kiley and I looked at each other nervously. Luckily, Mrs Rupert, our orchestra(管弦乐队) teacher, called both of our names and some other girls’ names to bunch us together. Our group stepped out of the band room with an adult who would drive us around the neighborhood. But as another adult handed us sweaters to wear for the day, I didn't want to do that anymore. “Ewww... it’s so ugly!”  Kiley commented. “It's huge! Even a dinosaur could fit into this.” Indeed, it was a misty gray color with oversized sleeves and a small logo at the top corner for our Robinson Marching Band. Even so, we forced ourselves into those ugly sweaters and went out to the car. At least we weren’t the only ones that looked funny. All of us in the band had to wear our uniforms which looked really uncomfortable. “OK, girls, here is the neighborhood. You guys will start here and...” I wasn’t paying any attention to what the driver was saying and I could tell Kiley was either. We were just looking out to the houses soon we would have to knock on. Butterflies were flying around in my stomach and I wished that they would be gone. Kiley and I got out of the car and took one side of the neighborhood while the other girls took the other. As Kiley and I approached our first house, we were quickly rehearsing(排练) our speech before we knocked. “OK, you say this and I say that,” Kiley said. “Do you want to start?” I asked. But I could tell Kiley wanted me to start. I was nervous enough already and Kiley had to literally push me to the doorstep. As my hand reached out, I put a big smile on my face hoping that they would make a donation. 注意: 1.续写词数应为 100左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 A woman with black hair came to the door. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 答案与解析 1.C 2.D 3.B 这是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了书店、图书馆和两门课程等校园资源。 1.细节理解题。根据Library部分中“The South Campus Library highlights Applied Technology, Media and Communication Arts, and Engineering Technology.
