根据第五段第一句话“ Helena, Montana’s laid-back capital, is often overlooked. But its location, at 3, 875 feet of elevation on the eastern slope (斜坡) of the Continental Divide, makes it a mountain biker’s dream. B Hummingbirds (蜂鸟) are a very important part of Mexico’s ecosystem, but because of the ever-spreading city landscape, they face all sorts of serious dangers. That’s where 73-year-old Catia Lattouf de Arida comes in. As a self-taught hummingbird care-taker, she devotes most of her free time and resources to nursing the tiny birds back to health. Her home in Mexico City has become known as a hummingbird hospital Catia’s story as a hummingbird nurse began in 2011, at a very difficult moment in her life. At that time, she focused on her battle with cancer and fell into a depression (抑郁) . She was walking on the street one day when she noticed a hummingbird that had suffered a serious eye injury. The kindhearted woman took it home and named it Gucci. She managed to nurse Gucci back to health, but she said it was Gucci that saved her. Why? Because the hummingbird managed to pull her out of the sadness and loneliness that had taken over her life. Word of her success spread among Catia’s friends, and before long some of them began bringing her injured hummingbirds. She didn’t repulse them at all. She began to study the bird and their habits in order to better take care of them, and after 11 years of experience, the 73-year-old woman is considered an expert on hummingbirds. In order to raise awareness of the difficult situation of hummingbirds in Mexico, Catia Lattouf de Arida started posting videos of the patients in her Mexico City apartment on social media, and many of them became popular. That’s when the need for her nursing services really blew up. She has cared for hundreds of hummingbirds in her 11-year career, when she has had as many as 50 of them in her apartment at any one time. She spends pretty much all her time looking after the tiny birds. 4. Which saying can best show the main idea of the first two paragraphs? A. It is better to give than to take. B. So, I decided to give it a try,” said Wei, 26, who now works as a flight instructor at the Air Force Aviation University. In 2015, Wei was admitted into the Air Force Aviation University and became an Air Force pilot student. According to Wei, pilots need to not only study aviation theory but also practice difficult aerobatics (飞行特技) like rolls and loops. These moves require strong resistance to g-forces. “To do a loop, a pilot has to bear about 3g of load, which feels like three times their body weight pressing down on them,” said Wei. To build this resistance, they often do strength training like weighted squats. They also use special equipment like a spinning ladder (旋梯) to overcome dizziness. Despite all the training, becoming a top PLA Air Force pilot remains a tough job. “During flight, pilots must carefully decide how to land, especially at night, and maintain position during formation flight,” explained Wei. He added that the key to these skills lies in continuous practice. In the world of aviation, a balanced mindset and quick thinking are very important. One of Wei’s most unforgettable experiences was dealing with illusions (错觉) during a formation fight up above the clouds. All he could see in front of him was the lead aircraft and clouds. “I felt like I was turning all the time, but my instruments showed that my flight was level,” said Wei. “In such situations, trusting instruments is key to making sound decisions.” But what always remains constant is the great sense of freedom and pride that Wei feels as he flies his aircraft in the sky and looks down at Earth from above. Now, as an experienced flight instructor, Wei hopes to channel his passion for aviation into the “training and development of a new generation of skilled pilots so as to contribute to the PLA Air Force’s combat readiness.” 8. What inspired Wei Fangjie to pursue a career as a pilot? A. Meeting a flight instructor at school. B. His deep interest in aviation technology. C. Advice from a high school career advisor. D. Seeing a poster wanting PLA Air Force pilots. 9. How do pilots develop resistance to g-forces? A. By practicing aerobatics. B. By getting rid of dizziness. C. By flying with a spinning ladder. D. By doing strength-building exercises. 10. What is the key to mastering flying skills, according to Wei? A. Quick thinking. B. Frequent training. C. A balanced mindset. D. Overcoming illusions. 11. What is Wei’s current goal as a fight instructor? A. Training a new generation of skilled pilots. B. Flying his aircraft with a sense of freedom. C. Encouraging more young people to become pilots. D. Contributing to the development of aviation theory. D 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第一段“In his senior year of high school, Wei Fangjie happened to see a poster for recruiting PLA Air Force pilots. “The pilots on the poster looked really cool, and I got to know that a pilot is known as a profession of the brave. So, I decided to give it a try,” said Wei(在高三的时候,Wei Fangjie偶然看到了一张招募空军飞行员的海报。 根据第二段“To build this resistance, they often do strength training like weighted squats.(为了增强这种抵抗力,他们经常做力量训练,比如负重深蹲。)” 根据第三段“He added that the key to these skills lies in continuous practice.(他补充说,这些技能的关键在于不断的练习。)” 根据最后一段“Now, as an experienced flight instructor, Wei hopes to channel his passion for aviation into the “training and development of a new generation of skilled pilots so as to contribute to the PLA Air Force’s combat readiness.”(作为一名经验丰富的飞行教练,Wei希望将他对航空的热情投入到“培养和发展新一代熟练飞行员,为中国空军的战备做出贡献”中去。)” A。 D Is forgiveness against our human nature? To answer our question, we need to ask a further question: What is the nature of our humanity? To put it in a simple way, people consider two completely different views of humanity. The first view is about dominance (统治) and power. In an early paper on the psychology of forgiveness, Droll (1984) made the interesting claim that humans’ key nature is more aggressive (好斗的) than forgiving allows. Those who forgive are against their basic nature, much to their harm. In his opinion, forgivers are giving up their well-being as they offer kindness to others, who might then take advantage of them. The second view focuses on the theme of cooperation, mutual respect, and even love as the basis of who we are as humans. Researchers find that to fully grow as human beings, we need both to receive love from and offer love to others. Without love, our connections with a wide range of individuals in our lives can fall apart. Even common sense strongly suggests that the will to power over others does not make for harmonious interactions. For example, how well has slavery (奴隶制) worked as a mode of social harmony? From this second viewpoint of who we are as humans, forgiveness plays a key role in the biological and psychological integrity of both individuals and communities because one of the outcomes of forgiveness, shown through scientific studies, is the decreasing of hate and the rebuilding of harmony. Forgiveness can break the cycle of anger. At least to the extent the people from whom you are keeping away accept your love and forgiveness and are prepared to make the required adjustments. Forgiveness can heal relationships and reconnect people. As an important note, when we take a classical philosophical view, that of Aristotle, we see the difference between potentiality and actuality. We are not necessarily born with the capbility to forgive, but instead with the potential (潜能) to learn about it and to grow in our ability to forgive. The actuality of forgiving, its actual behavior in unfriendly situations, develops with practice. 12. What is Droll’s idea about forgiveness? A. People should offer kindness to others. B. People who forgive can have their own well-being affected. C. Forgiveness depends on the nature of humanity. D. Aggressive people should learn to forgive. 13. What does the example in Paragraph 2 display? A. To forgive is to love. B. To fight is to grow. C. To give is to receive. D. To dominate is to harm. 14. Which of the following might the writer NOT agree with? A. Forgiveness can help us stay calm and find inner peace. B. Improved relationship can be one of results from forgiveness. C. Forgiveness is vital to the biological and physical integrity of humans. D. The people accepting your forgiveness may likely make possible changes. 15. What is message of the last paragraph? A. Forgiveness is in our nature. B. Forgiveness grows with time. C. Actuality is based on potentiality. D. It takes practice to forgive. B 13. D 14. C 15. 根据第一段中“Those who forgive are against their basic nature, much to their harm. In his opinion, forgivers are giving up their well-being as they offer kindness to others, who might then take advantage of them. 根据第二段中“Even common sense strongly suggests that the will to power over others does not make for harmonious interactions. For example, how well has slavery (奴隶制) worked as a mode of social harmony? 根据第三段“From this second viewpoint of who we are as humans, forgiveness plays a key role in the biological and psychological integrity of both individuals and communities because one of the outcomes of forgiveness, shown through scientific studies, is the decreasing of hate and the rebuilding of harmony. Forgiveness can break the cycle of anger. At least to the extent the people from whom you are keeping away accept your love and forgiveness and are prepared to make the required adjustments. Forgiveness can heal relationships and reconnect people. 根据最后一段“As an important note, when we take a classical philosophical view, that of Aristotle, we see the difference between potentiality and actuality. We are not necessarily born with the capbility to forgive, but instead with the potential (潜能) to learn about it and to grow in our ability to forgive. The actuality of forgiving, its actual behavior in unfriendly situations, develops with practice. The History of the Automobile The automobile, more commonly known as the car, certainly counts as one of the greatest inventions in human history. ____16____ As to who invented the automobile, the answer is not quite so clear-cut. While some give credit to Karl Benz, who patented the first gas-powered vehicle in 1886, others give the praise to Gottlieb Daimelr. Incidentally, the two inventors’ companies merge (合 并) in 1926 to form the famous Mercedes-Benz. ____17____ It was Henry Ford who designed a system of mass production that allowed him to produce cars far more cheaply, which in turn meant he could sell them at lower prices. By 1927, 15 million of Ford’s famous all-black Model Ts had been produced. Mass car ownership had become a reality. ____18____ Inventors were working on electric vehicles around the same time that gas-powered ones were being developed. The first electric car was designed in 1884 by Thomas Parker, the same man who electrified the London Underground. By 1900, electric vehicles were giving gas cars a run for their money. They were quiet, did not give off emissions, and were easier to drive, especially for women. ____19____ They were difficult to charge when most people’s homes didn’t have electricity. They were also rather expensive. In the end, Henry Ford’s cheap Model T put an end to interest in electric cars which didn’t become popular until the gas shortages and environmental concerns of the late 20th century. Now, early in the 21st century, we find ourselves on the brink of yet another age in automobile history. Electric cars are set to make the gas-guzzler (油 老 虎) out of date. ____20____ Benz, Daimler and Parker would surely be amazed by how far their dreams have come. A. But why were early electric cars not popular? B. However, they weren’t without shortcomings. C. They were also popular in European countries. D. It allows people to travel great distances quickly, safely and cheaply. E And self-driving cars may soon make human drivers a thing of the past. F. At first, European models were far too expensive for most people to buy. G. Many people think of electric vehicles as a new invention, but actually that’s not the case. D 17. F 18. G 19. B 20. 【16题详解】 由上文“The automobile, more commonly known as the car, certainly counts as one of the greatest inventions in human history. (automobile,俗称汽车,当然是人类历史上最伟大的发明之一)”可知,本空要说跟“为什么是最伟大的发明之一”有关的话题,故D选项“It allows people to travel great distances quickly, safely and cheaply. 【17题详解】 由下文“It was Henry Ford who designed a system of mass production that allowed him to produce cars far more cheaply, which in turn meant he could sell them at lower prices. 【18题详解】 由下文“Inventors were working on electric vehicles around the same time that gas-powered ones were being developed. The first electric car was designed in 1884 by Thomas Parker, the same man who electrified the London Underground. 第一辆电动汽车是由托马斯·帕克于1884年设计的,他也是伦敦地铁电气化的发明者)”可知,本空要说跟“电动汽车时间”有关的话题,故G选项“Many people think of electric vehicles as a new invention, but actually that’s not the case. 【19题详解】 由下文“They were also rather expensive. (它们也相当昂贵)”可知,这是电动汽车的缺点,故B选项“However, they weren’t without shortcomings. 【20题详解】 由上文“Now, early in the 21st century, we find ourselves on the brink of yet another age in automobile history. Electric cars are set to make the gas-guzzler (油老虎) out of date. 电动汽车将使耗油量大的汽车过时)”可知,本空要说跟“汽车发展”有关的话题,故E选项“And self-driving cars may soon make human drivers a thing of the past.(自动驾驶汽车可能很快就会让人类司机成为过去)”能承接上文,符合题意。 Hannah, a brave girl, lived in a small village in a land far away. They made their living by selling the produce from their garden at the market. Each day, Sumiko carefully watered plants and pretended they were beautiful chrysanthemums (菊花), like Mrs. Higaki’s prize flowers. In her heart, she wanted to grow chrysanthemums. “Foolish girl!” her mother lectured. “Flowers can’t be eaten!” “But Mum, people buy flowers.” “City people. No one in our poor village wastes money.” Sumiko knew her mother was right. The only person in the village who made money selling flowers was Mrs. Higaki. Every year she won first prize at the Kyoto Chrysanthemum Festival. Many people whispered that Mrs. Higaki used magic to grow her chrysanthemums. How else could she win first prize twenty years in a row? Sumiko admired Mrs. Higaki. If she could sell flowers like Mrs. Higaki, she would be able to buy things for her mother. But chrysanthemums were expensive to start, and Sumiko could only dream about growing them. One day, Sumiko visited Mrs. Higaki’s garden.“Mrs. Higaki, I wish I could grow beautiful chrysanthemums and win a prize like you,” said Sumiko. “You! Win a prize growing flowers?”Mrs. Higaki laughed. “Do you know what’s required to grow such flowers? The secret to growing them has been passed down to me from past generations of my family. And you-a child-believe you can compete against me? Stick to vegetables, child. Leave flowers to those who know the secret of flowers.” Mrs. Higaki returned to her gardening, ignoring the sad look on Sumiko’s face. Then she pulled up a plant. “What’s that?” Sumiko asked. “A plant in poor condition -a waste of my time,”Mrs. Higaki said, throwing the plant into the field beside the garden. Sumiko smiled before she had an idea. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sumiko got up early on the morning of the Kyoto Chrysanthemum Festival. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Sumiko smiled before she had an idea. She asked for Higaki’s permission to have that plant, dashed back home, and grew it behind the cottage. She leaned close to the hanging leaves and whispered, “Grow, little flower. You don’t have to win a prize. Just grow.” She took care of her plant every morning and evening.“You are my beautiful plant,”Amy would sing softly, as she weeded and watered it.“Someday, you will bloom prettier than any flower at the festival.”Each time Amy visited her little plant, it looked greener and taller. Time seemed to fly by as the festival neared. Sumiko got up early on the morning of the Kyoto Chrysanthemum Festival. When Amy visited her plant again, she screamed with delight. Her plant was in full bloom! It was the most beautiful rainbow chrysanthemums Amy had ever seen. Mrs. Higaki, who was passing by with flowers for the festival, stopped to see what the excitement was. Her mouth dropped open seeing the brilliant chrysanthemums. She never thought that the weak plant she threw away should have grown to be so remarkable. “It’s plain to see you will win a prize this year.” Mrs. Higaki sighed. And off they went to the festival. Finally, Amy's chrysanthemums won first prize as Mrs. Higaki had predicted. 词汇激活 行为类 ①照顾:take care of /look after ②接近:near/approach ③停止:stop /pause ④拜访:visit/pay a visit to 情绪类 ①高兴:delight/joy ②兴奋:excitement/thrill 【点睛】[高分句型1]Each time Amy visited her little plant, it looked greener and taller. B. A. honest and kind B. generous and creative C. devoted and strict D. caring and responsible C In his senior year of high school, Wei Fangjie happened to see a poster for recruiting PLA Air Force pilots. “The pilots on the poster looked really cool, and I got to know that a pilot is known as a profession of the brave. D. “Flowers can’t be eaten!” “But Mum, people buy flowers.” “City people No one in our poor village wastes money.” Sumiko knew her mother was right. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力1.
