初升高英语基础知识衔接 第1课 记叙文与衡水体书写 任务1: 结合译文,大声朗读课文 My home had a stand of woods behind it and many animals in the backyard. That first year, I started feeding peanuts to rabbits. The rabbits had no problem coming up right to me for them. As the months went by, the rabbits saw that I was no threat and didn't escape. When I threw them carrots, they came. Slowly they came to trust me, and by the end of the year they were eating out of my hand. That second year, the rabbits remembered me, and one would even sit up for carrots! While I was feeding them, I noticed that a squirrel was taking an increasing interest in the food. I carefully extended a long carrot and before long, there were times when I would have the squirrel sitting next to a rabbit, both having their carrots. A few months later, while eating, the squirrel would even turn her back to me. I reached out and carefully touch her back with my finger. She didn't move. By year three, the rabbits and the squirrel were back. The squirrel still didn't have a problem with me touching her back. I'd always thought the end of the carrot on her head looked like a cap. So one day, I had my camera ready to record pictures. So long as she had a carrot to eat, she never bothered the one on her head.
