I was struggling to connect and communicate with anyone on any level. As I searched on the Internet trying to understand what was happening to me, websites gave me the answer—depression. I researched topics about treatment and read others' articles about their experiences. I began to feel understood, less alone and more informed. I set up a social media account choosing the name itreallyisok; I wanted to build on the sentence I had seen over and over again online, which had brought me so much comfort. It's OK to not be OK. It took me a long time to accept this but doing so really helped with my recovery. Writing and sharing really helped me process what I was going through; and receiving other people's support was hugely beneficial to me as well. The highlight of my social media experience, however, was coming into contact with someone on the other side of the world who supported me through a three-week crisis. During a particularly difficult stage of my recovery, my doctor suddenly went off sick. I was struggling to talk to anyone close to me at the time. Hesitantly, I got in touch with a psychologist who had regularly shared posts that I'd connected with. This stranger helped me so much and her response, when I asked her why, blew me away. Through her I learnt that we might not be able to change the world at one blow but we can change the world of one person at a time. As you can see, the Internet and social media have been hugely beneficial in helping me get through a difficult journey. Despite many of the warnings, I can highly recommend it as a way to keep in touch with those you can relate to. As with anything though, connect with care. 4. What was wrong with the author? A. She felt lonely living abroad. B. She suffered from depression. C. She had trouble making friends. D. She was addicted to social media. 5. Why did the author choose the name itreallyisok for her social media account? A. To be different from other users. B. To tell the world she was OK. C. To get comfort from others online. D. To encourage herself to accept illness. 6. What did the author do when her doctor fell ill? A. She reached out to an expert online for help. B. She tried hard to connect with her friends C. She travelled to the other side of the world to relax. D. She shared posts regularly online to feel less lonely. 7. What did the author learn from the stranger? A. Despite the forecast, live like it's spring. B. Talking to your friends is sometimes all you need. C. One can change the world by starting with one person. D. Each person must live their life as a model for others. B 5. D 6. A 7. 根据文章第二段中的描述“As I searched on the Internet trying to understand what was happening to me, websites gave me the answer—depression.(当我在互联网上搜索,试图理解发生在我身上的事情时,网站给了我答案——抑郁症。)” 根据文章第三段中的描述“I set up a social media account choosing the name itreallyisok; I wanted to build on the sentence I had seen over and over again online, which had brought me so much comfort. It's OK to not be OK.(我创建了一个社交媒体账户,并选择了名字“itreallyisok”;我想在那个我在网上一遍又一遍看到的、给我带来许多安慰的句子上继续发展。“不OK也没关系。”)”可知,作者选择这个名字是为了鼓励自己接受病情。故选D。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第四段中的描述“During a particularly difficult stage of my recovery, my doctor suddenly went off sick. Hesitantly, I got in touch with a psychologist who had regularly shared posts that I'd connected with.(在我康复过程中特别困难的一个阶段,我的医生突然生病了。我犹豫地联系了一位心理学家,他经常分享我感同身受的帖子。)”可知,当作者的医生生病时,她联系了一个经常分享她认同帖子的心理学家。故选A。 根据文章最后一段中的描述“Through her I learnt that we might not be able to change the world at one blow but we can change the world of one person at a time.(通过她,我了解到我们可能无法一举改变世界,但我们可以通过一次改变一个人来改变世界。)” C What if you could experience music in your body, rather than hear it through your ears? That’s the idea behind Patrick Hanlon’s magic vests, which allow concertgoers who are deaf or hard of hearing to experience music. A magic vest is a wearable device that allows its user to experience touch through force, vibration and movement. Hanlon is a co-founder of Music: Not Impossible, an arm of Not Impossible Labs. This group creates and uses tech to try to transcend social barriers, including those around disability. Magic vests will promote inclusivity at live music performances. Previous methods that deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals would use to enjoy live music included putting their hands on speakers. They could also hold a balloon to feel vibrations on their fingertips. The vests aim to allow for a totally new experience. Hanlon says that nobody expects that using the vests will be so engaging, and “when you see it in people’s eyes, it’s magical. ” Jay Zimmerman, a composer whose ability to hear was damaged, says the vests are an example of new technology offering more exciting flexibility than before. He hopes that soon these inventions will allow deaf kids to have experiences with real vibrations. The vests are not limited to any particular type of music. Hanlon explained the vibration points can even be adjusted to fit a show’s overall atmosphere. The vests have been used at concerts for rock band Greta Van Fleet and pop star Lady Gaga. 8. What is the purpose of Patrick Hanlon’s magic vests? A. To perfectly fit a concert’s overall atmosphere. B. To help people with hearing problems feel music better. C. To provide better seating options at live music events. D. To replace traditional speakers at music concerts. 9. How do the vests allow users to experience different musical elements? A. By putting hands on speakers. B. By holding a balloon. C. By engaging in magic. D. By feeling force, vibration and movement. 10. What does the underlined word “transcend” in paragraph 2 most probably mean? A. Get over. B. Cure of. C. Tear up. D. Account for. 11. Where might the text be taken from? A. A musical comedy. B. A science magazine. C. A concert advertisement. D. A research report. B 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段“That’s the idea behind Patrick Hanlon’s magic vests, which allow concertgoers who are deaf or hard of hearing to experience music.(这就是帕特里克·汉隆神奇背心背后的想法,这种背心可以让失聪或重听的音乐会观众体验音乐)”可知,帕特里克·汉隆的魔法背心的目的是帮助听力有问题的人更好地感受音乐。 根据第三段“Previous methods that deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals would use to enjoy live music included putting their hands on speakers. They could also hold a balloon to feel vibrations on their fingertips. The vests aim to allow for a totally new experience.(以前,耳聋和听力障碍者欣赏现场音乐的方法包括把手放在扬声器上。他们还可以拿着气球感受指尖的震动。这种背心旨在给人们带来一种全新的体验)”以及最后一段“Hanlon explained the vibration points can even be adjusted to fit a show’s overall atmosphere.(汉龙解释说,振动点甚至可以调整,以适应演出的整体气氛)”可知,背心通过感觉力、振动和运动让使用者体验不同的音乐元素。 根据划线词后文“social barriers, including those around disability”以及“Magic vests will promote inclusivity at live music performances.(魔术背心将促进现场音乐表演的包容性)”可知,魔术背心将促进现场音乐表演的包容性,说明想要克服社会障碍,包括残疾障碍。 故选A。 根据第一段“What if you could experience music in your body, rather than hear it through your ears? That’s the idea behind Patrick Hanlon’s magic vests, which allow concertgoers who are deaf or hard of hearing to experience music. A magic vest is a wearable device that allows its user to experience touch through force, vibration and movement.(如果你能在你的身体里体验音乐,而不是通过你的耳朵听到它会怎么样?这就是帕特里克·汉隆神奇背心背后的想法,这种背心可以让失聪或重听的音乐会观众体验音乐。“魔法背心”是一种可穿戴设备,它可以让使用者通过力、振动和运动来体验触摸)”以及倒数第二段“Jay Zimmerman, a composer whose ability to hear was damaged, says the vests are an example of new technology offering more exciting flexibility than before. He hopes that soon these inventions will allow deaf kids to have experiences with real vibrations.(听力受损的作曲家Jay Zimmerman说,这种背心是新技术提供了比以前更令人兴奋的灵活性的一个例子。他希望这些发明很快就能让失聪的孩子体验到真正的震动。)”可知,文章主要介绍了帕特里克·汉隆研发的“魔法背心”,可以帮助听力有问题的人更好地感受音乐。由此可知,文章可能选自科学杂志。故选B。 D In April 2022, Uday Bhatia, a student from Delhi, India, visited Bichpuri as a volunteer for a 2-day programme. During his stay, he found that the biggest problem the local children faced was frequent power cuts, which made it difficult for them to study. That left a deep impact on Uday. Uday came back to Delhi and took immediate action to address the problem. He soon understood that residents of villages like Bichpuri couldn’t afford electrical devices. He wanted to find and develop a solution to rural India’s power shortage. After 24 attempts, the 18-year-old built the solution — Uday Electric — a bulb that can offer a power backup of almost 10 hours in case of a power cut. Explaining how the bulb works, Uday states that the technology used is very simple. “When the bulb is connected to a power source, energy gets stored in the battery. When the power supply is cut off, the bulb uses the energy stored in the battery to give out light,” he explains. At first, he built a bulb with a four-hour backup. But he wanted to provide a backup of 8-10 hours. Thanks to his love of computer science, he developed a way to change the bulb’s brightness, increasing the backup time without increasing the size of the battery. The bulb now comes with settings to change the brightness. Uday sold each bulb at only Rs 250 (3 dollars) and has so far sold over 7, 000 units in many remote villages. But what Uday did went beyond business; he donated 950 units to houses in the poorest areas through a non-governmental organisation, bringing joy to those living without electricity. “When I saw the joy on people’s faces when their houses were lit up, I felt on top of the world. No feeling could come close to it,” says Uday. Uday won the Diana Award 2023, which honours “outstanding young people selflessly creating positive social change”. He wishes to bring bulb to as many houses as he can in the coming years. 12. What inspired Uday to invent Uday Electric? A. A study he did at school. B. A volunteering experience. C. His interest in computer science. D. The power cuts he faced every day. 13. What can we learn about Uday Electric? A. It is big and solar-powered. B. It can produce many colours. C. It can work without batteries. D. It is affordable and effective. 14. How does Uday sound in paragraph 5? A. Satisfied. B. Formal. C. Confident. D. Humorous. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. A solution to end India’s power shortage B. A young Indian changemaker giving back C. Teen’s bright idea lights rural India D. The inspiring journey of a teenage Indian’s success 【答案】12. B 13. D 14. A 15. 根据第一段中“In April 2022, Uday Bhatia, a student from Delhi, India, visited Bichpuri as a volunteer for a 2-day programme. During his stay, he found that the biggest problem the local children faced was frequent power cuts, which made it difficult for them to study.”(2022年4月,来自印度德里的学生乌代·巴蒂亚作为志愿者参加了为期两天的比奇普利项目。 、第二段中“Uday came back to Delhi and took immediate action to address the problem.”(乌代回到德里,立即采取行动解决这个问题。)和“After 24 attempts, the 18-year-old built the solution-Uday Electric-a bulb that can offer a power backup of almost 10 hours in case of a power cut.”(经过24次尝试,这位18岁的年轻人终于做出了解决方案——Uday Electric——这种灯泡可以在停电的情况下提供近10小时的备用电力。) 根据第五段中“Uday sold each bulb at only Rs 250 (3 dollars) and has so far sold over 7, 000 units in many remote villages.”(Uday以每只250卢比(3美元)的价格出售灯泡,到目前为止,已在许多偏远村庄售出7000多只。) 根据第五段中Uday的话“When I saw the joy on people’s faces when their houses were lit up, I felt on top of the world. No feeling could come close to it”(当我看到人们的房子被点亮时他们脸上的喜悦,我感觉自己达到了人生的巅峰。 故选A项。 通读全文,尤其结合第二段中“He soon understood that residents of villages like Bichpuri couldn’t afford electrical devices. He wanted to find and develop a solution to rural India’s power shortage. After 24 attempts, the 18-year-old built the solution  —  Uday Electric  —  a bulb that can offer a power backup of almost 10 hours in case of a power cut.”(他很快就明白,像比奇普里这样的村庄的居民买不起电器。 When conflict or war makes the headlines, it can cause feelings such as fear, sadness, anger and anxiety wherever you live. He felt relieved that the shop hadn’t closed forever. Two days ago, when he passed by, there was a closed sign on the door and a note saying Mrs. Carter was sick. Evan was worried that he would never be able to get his “dream job” if the shop remained closed for too long. Mrs. Carter, an 85-year-old woman, spotted Evan looking in her shop’s direction and waved hello to him. Excitedly, Evan ran up to her and expressed his desire to work at the shop. Mrs.Carter laughed quietly, finding it amusing that an eight-year-old wanted a job. Evan confidently explained that since his dad passed away, he had learned how to do various tasks, like taking out the rubbish, making sandwiches, and assisting his mom, Stacey, with groceries. He didn’t want any payment for his work; instead, he simply wanted a bouquet (花束) for his mom’ s upcoming birthday. He believed in working hard for what he wanted, just as his mom had taught him. Impressed by Evan’s determination, Mrs. Carter agreed to hire him. She asked if he knew how to tie ribbons around flowers, and when she heard Evan’s affirmative(肯定的) response, they got down to making bouquets. Evan was excited to assist Mrs. Carter every evening for a whole week, and his presence brought joy to her boring work.Customers found Evan adorable and entertaining, which resulted in increased flower purchases and booming business for Mrs. Carter. On Evan’s last day, Mrs.Carter felt emotional. Their bond had grown strong, and she saw him as a grandchild. As she prepared a splendid bouquet for Evan’s mother, tears welled up in her eyes. She invited him to visit her shop in the future, and Evan promised to tell his mom about her. With the bouquet in hand, Evan rushed home to celebrate Mom’s birthday. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As Evan handed his mom the bouquet, they were surprised to discover an envelope with several hundred-dollar bills inside. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 With the bouquet in hand, Evan rushed home to celebrate Mom’s birthday. On seeing the gift, his mom was astonished. The bouquet was huge and looked expensive. Rather than being happy about it, she wondered where Evan had gotten it. “Evan? Where did you get the money for this?” she asked, worried. With a big smile on his face, Evan told her the whole story and explained that he had once overheard Stacey’s conversations, learning she didn’t buy herself things to save money for him, so he made up his mind to give Mom a special gift for her birthday. Hearing the heartfelt words, mom was moved. She embraced him tightly, expressing her love and gratitude. As Evan handed his mom the bouquet, they were surprised to discover an envelope with several hundred-dollar bills inside. Worried that Mrs. Carter had made a mistake, Evan suggested returning the money. They went to the flower shop immediately and handed the envelope back to Mrs. Carter. Smiling warmly, Mrs. Carter explained that it wasn’t a mistake but a birthday gift for Evan’s mother. She insisted they keep it, saying it was Evan’s affection for his mom that touched her and that she decided to lend a hand. Moved by Mrs. Carter’s kindness, mom invited her for dinner that night and they celebrated Stacey’s birthday together. As Evan handed his mom the bouquet, they were surprised to discover an envelope with several hundred-dollar bills inside. They hurriedly returned to the flower shop to let Mrs. Carter know how they appreciated her kindness but couldn’t accept the money because of mom’s firm belief-one should stand on his own feet. Mrs. Carter’s eyes were filled with admiration for the Stacey’s independence. She proposed a solution: Stacey could work at the flower shop whenever it was convenient. Mom’s face lit up with joy as she gladly accepted the offer. Stacey invited Mrs. Carter to dinner, not just as a birthday celebration but also as a way to express her gratitude to Mrs. Carter for everything she had done. 词汇激活 行为类 ①看到:see/spot ②庆祝:celebrate/observe ③下定决心做某事:make up one’s mind to do/be determined to do 情绪类 ①感动的:moved/touched ②担心的:worried/concerned 点睛】[高分句型1] Rather than being happy about it, she wondered where Evan had gotten it. A. 8. 12 What inspired Uday to invent Uday Electric? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力:ABCCB, BBAAB, BCACA, CCAAC 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
