Dear Doctor,
I am a sixteen-year-old student and I've been experiencing lots of back pain and headaches lately. I'm unsure about the cause. Like some of my friends, I spend my evenings playing computer games and surfing the internet. What's more, I carry a heavy schoolbag to school daily. I'm just an ordinary student, but these health problems are starting to worry me. What can I do?
Adam
Dear Adam,
I'm unable to tell you exactly what's wrong, but I can offer some advice. First of all, don't spend too much time on your computer, and stop using it late at night. It's important for teenagers to get enough sleep. Also, you get headaches from looking at computer screens for a long time. If you sit on a chair for long, it can make your back sore too. As for your schoolbag, it's important to manage its weight. Take anything you don't need out of your schoolbag. If possible, leave some books or materials at school.
I hope my advice is helpful. Anyway, I strongly recommend(推荐) you visit a local doctor for that.

Christian Bucks may be young, but he sure knows how to be a good friend. When the York, Pennsylvania, second-grade r noticed that some of his schoolmates didnˈt have anyone to play with during the break time, he came up with a way to help them. He suggested having something called a "buddy bench" put in on his schoolˈs playground.
A buddy bench is a special bench where students can sit if they are feeling bored or lonely. Itˈs usually brightly colored with "BUDDY BENCH" in big letters. Other students can then go to the bench and ask them if they would like to play or talk.
"We show we care about others when we ask others to play," Christian told reporters.
Christian first learned about buddy benches when his family was considering moving to Germany. He saw a buddy bench in a handbook for a German school and thought it would be a great way to fight loneliness on the playground at his own school, Round Town Elementary School.
Christian told Round Town’s head teacher, Matthew Miller, about his idea at the end of last school year. Miller immediately decided to get a buddy bench. He had Christian pick out its style and bright colors.
"I was the first person who got to sit on the bench when it arrived at Round Town," says Christian. He hopes the bench will help "grow our dream circle of friends".

When was the last time you gave or received a hug ? Do your parents hug you before you go to school ? In Western countries , it is quite common to greet close friends or relatives with a hug .
You might hug your teammates after winning a basketball game . If your friends are having a bad day , you can hug them to cheer them up . Friends who haven ˈ t seen each other for a long time will usually hug each other when meeting .
Of course , people in different countries have different opinions when it comes to hugging . After coming to China , I’ve noticed that people are generally more reluctant(不情愿的)to hug than they are in my home country , the US .
My Chinese friends told me that hugging is considered to be very intimate(亲密的)in their culture . It usually only happens between people who are really close to each other , like couples . Chinese people don’t usually hug in public , either .
But people’s attitudes toward hugging can also change . I remember watching a video story about a "hugging party " that was held in Shanghai . A local artist held the party , inviting strangers and asking participants (参与者)to hug each other .
The Chinese participants clearly looked uncomfortable. However , after the party , several of them changed their minds . They discovered that hugging doesn’t have to be awkward (尴尬的)and can actually be quite nice . So next time you see your mom or dad , give them a hug - see how it makes you feel .
46.What usually happens between good friends when meeting in Western countries according to the passage ?
A. Hugging . B. Nodding . C. Shaking hands . D. Bowing .
47.The second paragraph tells us ____
A. the advantages of hugging each other
B. some situations(情况) in which people hug each other
C. the reasons why friends need to hug each other
D. where people should hug each other
48.In Chinese culture , hugs usually happen between ____.
A. friends B. classmates C. couples D. workmates
49.What did people do at the " hugging party "?
A. They were invited to hug each other .
B. They watched a video about hugging .
C. They told stories about hugging .
D. They hugged each other at any time
50.The writer wrote the last paragraph to_______.
A. encourage people to be nice to strangers
B. explain why people feel uncomfortable while hugging
C. show how people can change their minds about hugging
D. give us an example how and where we can hug

Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying. “Friends are God’s way of taking care of us.” But how do you find real friendship and keep it?
The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends.
Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed(种子)and take care of it to make it grow.
First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and friendly. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints and do his or her best to help. To make a friend, you cannot be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives.
But things cannot always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friends? You can have a talk to him or her. If he or she doesn’t want to talk, you could write a letter.
There are three steps to being friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that. Remember that friendship is the most important thing in your life.

How can I help you?
Dr. Know will try her best to help with all your problems.
Dr. Know
