· Analysis of Material
The theme of this unit is sports and healthy lifestyles. The reading text is “A game for the world ”. This text is an essay and the text analyzes the reasons for the popularity of football around the world. Through the study, students find out why football is popular in the world and think about which sports are as popular as football in China, guiding students to increase their awareness of different cultures.
· Analysis of Students
After a semester of study in the senior year, students have acquired some basic language knowledge and skills and they are capable of developing some detailed information about the text. This article is about football, which is relevant to students' lives. It is easy to stimulate students' interest in reading. However, students have less knowledge of traditional Chinese sports and foreign sports. Through learning, students can understand different sports at home and abroad and improve their knowledge of different cultures.

By the end of the class, students will be able to:
1. summarize the main content and structure of the text.
2. improve reading skills by using some reading strategies: skimming and close reading.
3. identify three reasons why football is so popular around the world.
4. discuss which sports are as popular as football in China and consider why.
