The topic of this unit is “unforgettable events”. Section A (3a-3c) is the reading part of this unit. The name of the reading material is The storm brought people closer together. It talks about a storm happened in Alabama. This lesson teaches students to help each other in times of difficulty. So it’s quite an important lesson of this semester. Students analysis Students of Grade Eight have learned some useful reading skills. All they need is a little instruction and proper help, they will understand the passage well enough. Teaching objectives 1. Knowledge and skill objects: ①Students are able to understand the words and phrases like: storm, wind, report, area...etc. ②Students can use past progressive tense to talk about events happened in the past. 2. Process and method objects: ①Students can predict the main idea of a passage by knowing its title. ②Students can use the reading strategies: scanning and canning to find the information they want. 3.
