However, eating too much junk food is bad for your body, especially if you're between the ages of 10 and 19. “Junk food shapes teenage brains in ways that make their ability to think, learn and remember weaker. It can also make it harder to control bad behavior,” said Amy Reichelt, a scientist at Western University, Canada. “It may even raise a teen's risk of mental(精神的) problems.” Reichelt and two other researchers reviewed more than 100 studies, including their own, about how poor food choices can make a big difference to teenage brains. They found teenagers are more sensitive than any other age group to processed foods with a lot of fat and sugar as their brains are not yet fully grown up. Teenage brains are still developing the ability to notice risks and control actions. The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain that tells us we shouldn't eat chips all the time and helps us control ourselves. However, this part is the last to grow up—it doesn't fully develop until we are in our early 20s. At the same time, teenage brains get more excited from prizes. The parts of the brain that make us feel good when we do something happy—like eating delicious food—are fully developed by the teen years. As a result, the teenage brain has two hits against it when it comes to refusing junk food. “It has a preference for prizes and does badly in selfcontrol,” said Reichelt. So, what's the best way to say no to junk food? The answer is exercise. When we exercise, our brain can make wise decisions and behave better. ( A )1.What is the main idea of the second paragraph? C.Eating delicious food is something happy only for aged people. D.Those who make good decisions or behave well always do exercise. B[原创] When I was in the third grade, I watched a video about the discovery of King Tutankhamen's tomb(坟墓). I remember the archaeologists looked through a narrow hole in the tomb with a candle. A workman asked what he could see. “Wonderful things!” he said. From that moment, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. Today, I'm lucky to work as an archaeologist. I study the lives of people who lived in Egypt's Nile area. It's exciting work. Sometimes you find something that was buried three thousand years ago. Holding a piece of history is an amazing feeling. So I decided what I wanted to be at the age of nine, and I made it happen. Seems easy, right? Not quite! The road wasn't easy. I did my studies—university, and then a PhD.But along the way I was told many things: I was too young. I wasn't qualified(有资格的). I should get married and have kids. I also needed money, so I applied for six scholarships(奖学金). The first five replies I got were no. Six months later, the last reply came: This time it was yes. Finally, I could start my own digging. For anyone thinking about the work he wants to do, I would say: Never give up. If you want to do something, keep trying. If people tell you no, use that—it will push you. At the beginning, it hurts. But the next it hurts a little less. It makes you stronger and actually helps you. Second, focus on your goals. And I stress yours. You don't have to follow other people. If they say something has never been done, make it happen. You may be the first to do it! There are always challenges, but you will overcome them in the end. ( A )5.What is the best title for this passage? A.Following a Childhood Dream B.A Day Being an Archaeologist C.The Nile Area's Hidden Treasures D.Challenging What Has Never Been Done ( D )6.What can we learn from the passage? A.The writer became an archaeologist at the age of nine. B.It was easy for the writer to become an archaeologist. C.The writer got six “noes” before he got the scholarship. D.These “noes” helped the writer to grow up and be stronger. ( B )7.Which is the CORRECT order of the following events? a.The writer went to Egypt and worked there. b.The writer decided to be an archaeologist. c.The writer got the scholarship at last. d.The writer didn't have enough money. A.b-c-d-a B.b-d-c-a C.a-b-d-c D.a-d-c-b 8.What is the writer's purpose in writing this passage?(10词以内) __To__encourage__people__not__to__give__up__their__goals.(答案不唯一,合理即可)__ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
