MUJI products came into being in the early 1980s as a result of a new mood, calling for a return to simplicity in daily life. Our aim was — and still is — to provide our customers all over the world with the fundamental things they need to live a busy, modern, urban lifestyle. These things must be made from good, _______30_______ materials, with no unnecessary frills or fancies and must sell at a reasonable price. Our clothes must feel good on, our stationery must be practical and our household goods must be easy to use. So, at MUJI you’ll find no _______31_______ prices, just simple, sound products you can afford, so simple in fact, they don’t even carry a brand name. This is in direct contrast to the usual marketing ploy of producing heavily branded, expensively designed, over packaged goods.
At MUJI we pride ourselves on being different. Moreover, our products are made from materials which we _______32_______ on a global scale, not because we think an exotic origin sounds more exciting than one on our doorstep but because we are committed to using the best available material, wherever it comes from. Using these superior materials, we design our products so that their simplicity brings out their inherent _______33_______, both of the material they’re made from and the products themselves. Finally, we present our products in the _______34_______ of packaging — if any at all ——which neither masks nor makes them look any more than they are. As a result, the quality and credence of each product are self-evident. As life gets more _______35_______, the need for simple lifestyle becomes all the more necessary. To find these, look no further than MUJI.
The Company’s basic principle is to develop new simple products at reasonable prices by making the best use of materials while considering environmental issues. Through the careful selection of materials, _______36_______ manufacturing processes and simplifying our packaging, we have continually introduced high quality MUJI brand products onto the market, at lower than usual prices. For the materials, the _______37_______ selection criteria is always quality. These activities underpin our ability to create low-priced, high-quality products.
When packaging products, MUJI seeks not to decorate them but rather to _______38_______ their natural colors and shapes. For this reason, we use bulk packaging and place products in plain, uniform containers. Faithful to our philosophy of simplicity, this approach is also in ________39________ with our policy of conserving resources and reducing waste. In the quest for radiant and youthful skin, many people turn to cosmetic products and treatments. However, nature provides us with a bounty of ingredients that can work wonders for our skin without the need for harsh chemicals or invasive procedures. Incorporating food-based ingredients into your skincare routine can be a delicious and effective way to nourish and pamper your skin.
Milk is not just a staple in our diets; it also has skincare benefits. Rich in proteins and lipids (油脂), milk helps the skin retain water, keeping it moist and supple, if drunk regularly. However, you can’t add milk into homemade face masks for a hydrating boost, because it might cause skin allergy (过敏) due to the rich nutrition which can’t be absorbed by skin.
Olive oil, a Mediterranean staple, is not only great for cooking but also for moisturizing the skin, making the it silky and smooth. While olive oil is an excellent moisturizer, it’s best to use products containing olive oil on the arms and legs rather than the face to avoid clogging pores.
Grapes are not only a delicious snack but also a mild source of antioxidants, providing anti-aging protection by combating free radicals (自由基) which can cause damage to the skin. Adding grapes to your diet or skincare routine can help promote a more youthful complexion.
Papaya, thanks to its enzyme papain, can help to dissolve pore-blocking debris and slough off dead skin cells, revealing a smoother and brighter complexion. However, individuals with sensitive skin or a papaya allergy should proceed with caution.
Strawberries are not just sweet and juicy; they can also help calm redness. The antioxidants in strawberries work to even out skin tone and improve the overall texture of the skin, making it appear more uniform and clear. However, individuals with berry allergies should steer clear of strawberry-based products.
Honey helps to lock in moisture and alleviate dry patches leaving the skin soft and hydrated. However, those with acne-prone skin should use honey-based products sparingly, as they may be too rich and potentially pore-clogging. Therefore, use honey in moderation and choose products with lighter formulas.
Tangerines are packed with fruit acids that help exfoliate (去屑) the skin, promoting a smoother and more radiant complexion. Skincare products containing citrus ingredients can help slough off dead skin cells and reveal a fresh layer of skin underneath.
Incorporating these food-based ingredients into your skincare routine can provide numerous benefits for your skin, from hydration and exfoliation to antioxidant protection and anti-aging benefits. By harnessing the power of nature’s bounty, you can achieve healthy, glowing skin without the need for harsh chemicals or invasive treatments. So next time you’re in the kitchen, consider reaching for these natural ingredients to nourish and pamper your skin from the inside out. Your skin will thank you for it!

Time, What is it?
If I were to stop you on the street and say,“ Excuse me, what time is it?” what would you do? You’d probably look at your watch and say, “ It’s a quarter to three,” or some such thing. ________76________ But if I were to stop you on the street and say the same words but in a different order, “ Time, what is it?” you’d probably look at me as if I were crazy. What is time? How would you define it?
For centuries, philosophers and wise men have tried to explain time. Saint Augustine once tried to answer this question. He said: “For what is time? Who is able easily and briefly to explain it? …Surely we understand well enough when we speak of it. What then is time? If nobody asks me, I know; but if I were desirous to explain it to someone — plainly I know not.” ________77________
Sir Isaac Newton said that time was absolute, that it occurred whether the universe was here or not. Leibnitz came along and turned Newton’s definition upside down. He said, “ Time is merely the order of events, not an entity itself.” Albert Einstein followed Leibnitz, and made the statement that “ Time has no independent existence apart from the order of events by which we measure it.” ________78________ He said the train does not arrive at the station at 7 :00 PM; the train arrives at the station at the same moment the little hand reaches seven.
________79________ Everything is an event. Reading this book is an event. Getting out of bed this morning is an event. Driving your car is an event. Arriving at work is an event. Your phone ringing is an event. Eating lunch is an event. I was in New York doing a time management seminar for Merrill Lynch executives, when a fellow handed me a card on which he had written his definition of time: “Time is what keeps one damned thing after another from becoming every damned thing at once.”
Ben Franklin said, “ Dost thou love life? Then do not squander (挥霍) time, for that’s the stuff life is made of.” If this is true, then controlling your life means controlling your time, and controlling your time means controlling the events in your life.
A. The astute Augustine obviously wasn’t much help on this matter.
B. The definition from the dictionary says: “Time is the occurrence of events in sequence, one after the other.”
C. He then developed an idea called “simultaneous events.”
D. Time is what is happening now and will happen in the future replace what happened in the past
E. In America we don’t usually stop people on the street and ask them philosophical questions.
F. If we waste time, how can we say we love our lives?

MUJI products came into being in the early 1980s as a result of a new mood, calling for a return to simplicity in daily life. Our aim was — and still is — to provide our customers all over the world with the fundamental things they need to live a busy, modern, urban lifestyle. These things must be made from good, _______30_______ materials, with no unnecessary frills or fancies and must sell at a reasonable price. Our clothes must feel good on, our stationery must be practical and our household goods must be easy to use. This may seem elementary but it has always been a primary goal to ensure that MUJI customers should never pay for what they can’t use—i. e. added extras and fancy packaging.
Thus, all MUJI products appear on store shelves in simple packaging bearing only product-related information and a price tag.

Her skin bore the intricate tapestry of a rare condition, a mosaic of scars and blemishes that danced across her face like a testament to the trials she had endured. Yet, within this canvas of imperfections, Lily’s heart radiated a warmth that enveloped all who crossed her path in a tender embrace.

Honey helps to lock in moisture and alleviate dry patches, leaving the skin soft and hydrated.

推理判断题。根据第四段中的“In some Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, women gracefully envelop themselves in abayas, long black robes that enshroud their forms entirely. This strict dress code, steeped in the rules of religious faith and cultural morals, conveys values of female modesty and respect for males. Traditional attire for Middle Eastern men includes garments such as thobes or dishdashas, which are long, loose-fitting robes typically worn with a head covering. These garments are not only practical for the region’s climate but also reflect the wearer’s background, social status, and personal preferences(在一些中东国家,如沙特阿拉伯,女性优雅地身着长袍,这种黑色的长袍完全包裹着她们的身体。

Section C
Directions: Complete the following passage by using the sentences given below. Each sentence can be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need.
【答案】76. E 77. A 78. C 79. B

【77题详解】
根据上文“Saint Augustine once tried to answer this question. He said: “For what is time? Who is able easily and briefly to explain it? …Surely we understand well enough when we speak of it. What then is time? If nobody asks me, I know; but if I were desirous to explain it to someone — plainly I know not. ””(圣奥古斯丁曾经试图回答这个问题。他说:“时间是为了什么?谁能简单扼要地解释一下?当然,当我们谈论它的时候,我们是很清楚的。那么时间是什么呢?如果没有人问我,我知道;但如果我想要向别人解释的话——老实说,我不知道。”)提到圣奥古斯丁也不知道如何向别人解释。结合选项A项The astute Augustine obviously wasn’t much help on this matter.(精明的奥古斯丁显然在这件事上帮不上什么忙。)可知,和上文内容意思相关,承接上文内容,为对上文内容的语意递进。故选A项。
【78题详解】
根据上文“Albert Einstein followed Leibnitz, and made the statement that “ Time has no independent existence apart from the order of events by which we measure it. ””(阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦遵循莱布尼茨的说法,他说:“除了我们衡量时间的事件顺序之外,时间没有独立的存在。”)提到爱因斯坦认为时间通过事件顺序衡量。下文“He said the train does not arrive at the station at 7 :00 PM; the train arrives at the station at the same moment the little hand reaches seven.”(他说火车晚上7点还没有到站;火车到达车站的同时,指针小手也到达了7)举例“火车到站与指针指向7点同时发生”。结合选项C项He then developed an idea called “simultaneous events.”(然后他提出了“同时性事件”的概念)与火车到站和钟表事件的例子直接对应。故选C。
【79题详解】
根据下文“Everything is an event.”(一切都是事件。)以及“I was in New York doing a time management seminar for Merrill Lynch executives, when a fellow handed me a card on which he had written his definition of time: “Time is what keeps one damned thing after another from becoming every damned thing at once.””(我在纽约为美林(Merrill Lynch)的高管们举办时间管理研讨会时,一位同事递给我一张卡片,上面写着他对时间的定义:“时间是阻止一件该死的事情接着另一件该死的事情同时变成另一件该死的事情的东西。”)可知,该段主要讲的是时间是事件相继发生的顺序。结合选项B项The definition from the dictionary says: “Time is the occurrence of events in sequence, one after the other.”( 字典上的定义是:“时间是事件相继发生的顺序。”)可知,和该段意思一致,为总结该段内容。故选B项。
