不定代词是指不指明代替任何特定名词或形容词的代词。
1.one
(1)Please pass me the book, the one on the top of the shelf.

解读:不定代词one代替前面出现过的单数可数名词, 以避免重复,其复数形式ones指代前面出现过的复数可数名词, 可与冠词连用, 可以有自己的定语。

2.each和every
(1)There are trees on each side of the road.
解读:从数量上看, each用来指两个或两个以上的人或物中的一个, 而every则指三个或三个以上的人或物中的一个。
(2)Each of the stories is very interesting.=Every/Each story is very interesting.(作定语)
(3)The students each have a desk. (作同位语)

解读:every只能作定语, 而each兼有形容词和名词的作用,可作主语、定语、宾语和同位语。
3.many和much
(1)How many people are there in your family?
(2)How much money did you spend on it?

解读:many修饰可数名词复数,much修饰不可数名词,much可以用作

4.little, a little/few,a few
(1)Little /A__little has been done to prevent the air from being polluted.没有采取什么措施/采取了一些措施来防止空气受到污染。(作主语)
(2)Few /A__few of them know German.他们中没几个/有几个会德语。(作主语)
解读:few和little表示“很少”,表否定意义,a few 和a little表示“有些”,

表肯定意义。little和a little修饰或代替不可数名词,few和 a few修饰或代替可数名词,它们在句中作主语、宾语和定语。
5.some和any
(1)My son needs some color paper.Have you got any?
解读:some和any都可在句中作主语、宾语和定语。some常用在肯定句中, any常用在疑问句或否定句中。

解读:some也可用于疑问句中, 表示请求、建议或表示说话人希望得到肯定的回答。

6.other系列
another表示“别的;另一个”,泛指众多中的另一个,后面一般接单数名词,前不加定冠词 This book is too difficult for me.Will you please give me another book?
the other表示“两个中的另一个”,常与one连用 I have two pencils.One is red, and the__other is blue.
other+名词复数=others(其他的人/物) Some are listening to the radio,and others are watching TV.
the other+名词复数=the others(其余的,相当于the rest,指剩下的全部) Some of the students are from the north. The__others (=The other students) are from the south.

7.both, all和either
(1)Both__of us like playing the guitar.=We both like playing the guitar.
(2)Both his parents and he like playing basketball.
(3)All the students have to hand in their homework on time.=All__of the students have to hand in their homework on time.
(4)We all finished doing our homework.
(5)You can give me either__of the pens.

解读:both指两个都,常与and连用。all指三者及以上。either指两者中的任何一个。
8.neither和none
(1)—Which would you like, tea or coffee?
—Neither.Water, please.
(2)None of them has been to America.
解读:neither指两者中的任何一个都不;none指三者或三者以上中的任何一个都不。

9.复合不定代词something, anything, nothing与everything及somebody, anybody, nobody与everybody
(1)—Do you have anything important to say for yourself?
—Nothing except sorry.
(2)Somebody is talking in class.
(3)Did you buy anything special?

解读:▲something, anything, nothing和everything指物, 它们在句中作主语时,谓语动词应用单数形式。something和anything指“某物”, 它们的区别与some和any的区别相同;nothing表示否定含义;everything则表示“每件事物”。
▲ somebody, anybody, nobody和everybody指人。它们中的body均可改为one, 它们的用法与something, anything, nothing和everything的用法相同。
▲ 复合不定代词被形容词修饰时,形容词后置。
