Born in the post-90s, Zhang Jingyi says that Yang Liwei and the Shenzhou V spacecraft are valuable childhood memories for many of her generation. “This milestone in China’s space industry sparked an aerospace dream in the hearts of many children back then,” she said.
Although Zhang doesn’t fly into space herself, she uses her cameras to document the progress of China’s space exploration. Zhang once traveled to Jiuquan, Gansu Province, to photograph a rocket launch on New Year’s Day. She braved the cold, dark night for hours to get the perfect shot. “For me, it was really just for fun,” Zhang said. “But after I posted the photo on my WeChat Moments page, a friend of my husband’s, who was actually in charge of the rocket launch project, became very excited. It was meaningful for them to see the achievements of years of hard work.”
That’s when Zhang realized there are countless unsung heroes spending nights and days away from their families, just to ensure that China’s rockets can fly into space. “I saw the significance of showing my pictures to the public: to make people aware of the great efforts they have made,” she said.
From 2021 to 2022, Zhang photographed the launches of rockets for the in-orbit construction of the Tiangong space station. Currently, there are only two active space stations orbiting Earth: the International Space Station and Tiangong. “If you look back to 1970, we were just launching our first man-made satellite, while the US already sent humans to the moon in 1969. Now, more than 50 years later, we have built Tiangong, one of the only two space stations in the world,” Zhang reflected. “How cool that is!”
4. What drove Zhang to photograph China’s space exploration?
A. Her love for photography. B. Her interest in spacecraft.
C. Her memories about Shenzhou V. D. Her dream of flying into space.
5. What does the underlined word “unsung” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Unknown. B. Unexpected. C. Unfamiliar. D. Uncovered.
6. What did the experience of photographing a rocket launch at Jiuquan bring to Zhang?
A. She succeeded in catching the perfect shot. B. She enjoyed great fun and made lots of friends.
C. She collected photos for her WeChat Moments. D. She got a new understanding of her work.
7. What can we infer from Zhang’s words in the last paragraph?
A. China’s space exploration is facing great challenges.
B. The US’s space exploration is the best in the world.
C. China’s space exploration is developing rapidly.
D. China will send humans to the moon in the near future.

The Little Prince, written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is a charming and thought-provoking (引人深思的) story that takes us on a colorful and touching journey through the universe, exploring themes of friendship, love, loss, and the meaning of life.
The story begins with the narrator, a pilot who has crashed in the desert. Trapped and alone, he encounters (邂逅) a mysterious little boy — the little prince. The little prince hails from a small planet where he has cared for a single rose that is very precious to him. However, feeling misunderstood and hurt by the rose’s behavior, he decides to leave his planet in search of answers and new friends.
Traveling from planet to planet, he meets many strange and unusual characters: the king, the proud man, the drunkard, the businessman, and the lamplighter. Each provides the little prince with a different view on human nature and the world. One of the most meaningful encounters is with the fox. The fox teaches the little prince the true meaning of care and love, establishing a deep connection and bond with someone or something. Through this experience, the little prince realizes that his rose is truly unique and special to him.
Throughout his journey, the little prince also reflects on the adults he encounters, often finding them to be strange and lost in their own concerns and worries. He questions what they consider most important and the way they have forgotten the simple joy s and wonders of life. The little prince’s innocence (纯真) serves as a reminder of what is truly important in our own lives.
Eventually, the little prince meets the narrator. Together, they share many conversations and experiences, deepening the narrator’s understanding of the little prince’s world.
“The Little Prince” takes us on a magical journey through the universe, touching our souls and leaving us with a sense of wonder and hope. It is a story that reminds us of the power of innocence, love, and the importance of never losing sight of what truly matters in life.
8. Where is the text probably taken from?

D. To seek new friendship and answers to his confusions.
10. Who changes the little prince’s view of his rose?

Laboratory animals have played a key role in scientific research, medicine, biology, and many other fields. The World Day for Laboratory Animals, observed on April 24 each year, serves as an important reminder of our ethical (道德上的) obligations toward these animals. It was founded in 1979 by the National Anti-Vivisection Society in the UK.
Central to the ethical use of laboratory animals is the “3R” principle — replacement, reduction, and refinement (改善). According to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, replacement refers to using lower-level animals instead of higher-level ones or replacing animal experiments with other research methods. Reduction means minimizing the number of experimental animals. Refinement means that in experiments requiring the use of experimental animals, researchers should use methods to reduce harm to the animals as much as possible.
However, ethical questions related to lab animals still raise concerns. For example, in September 2023, it was reported that Neuralink, the company founded by US billionaire Elon Musk, subjected monkeys to cruel treatment during its experiments. Many of these monkeys experienced severe pain and developed serious diseases, finally leading to the decision to euthanize (使安乐死) the animals to end their suffering.
Despite the wealth and influence of Musk’s company, the animals in its experiments continue to suffer, which is especially problematic for those used in less well-funded institutions. Consequently, scientists are actively seeking more human e alternatives to animal experiments.
Thankfully, advancements in science and technology are creating new opportunities that could obviously reduce or even eliminate (消除) the need for animal testing. For instance, the organ-on-a-chip technology enables scientists to develop special human cells that mimic (模仿) real organs on a miniature chip. These chips provide scientists with a means to test how medicines or other things might affect human organs, thus potentially prevent the need for animal testing, as reported by Live Science Intelligence.
12. What is the aim of setting up World Experimental Animal Day?
A. To find out more animals for lab tests. B. To call on people to care about lab animals.
C. To tell the progress in medicine and biology. D. To remind us of our responsibility for lab animals.
13. What can we learn from the “3R” principle?
A. It solves the problems of lab animals completely. B. It greatly benefits the lab animals.
C. It can effectively help to save the lab animals. D. It causes little or no harm to the lab animals.
14. Why does the author mention Musk’s company?
A. To praise the advanced experiment process. B. To tell the existing concerning situation.
C. To argue for some poorly-financed institutions. D. To introduce the famous Musk’s achievements.
15. According to Live Science Intelligence, the future of lab animals will be .
A. disappointing B. hopeful C. uncertain D. satisfying

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
In high school, many students may encounter difficulties in their studies, and so did I. Sometimes, I would become very confused. Math problems that seemed to be impossible to solve, puzzling grammar in English, and difficult historical events all made me feel at a loss. I didn’t know where to start or how to improve.
Moreover, the fierce competition among classmates also added to my anxiety. Seeing others doing well, I couldn’t help but question myself, wondering if I was working hard enough. This sense of uncertainty made me doubt my abilities and future. I was losing patience and drive.
One sunny day, as I was sitting in the classroom feeling a bit bored, my teacher came in and announced that we would have a special project — to plant a tree in the schoolyard. I was excited at the thought of getting outside and doing something different.
I went outside and started digging the hole for the tree. I worked hard, feeling the dirt on my hands and the sweat on my forehead. As I was working, a classmate, Mary, came over and said, “Hey, you’re really putting a lot of effort into this!” I smiled and replied, “Yeah, I want this tree to grow strong. It feels like we’re doing something meaningful.” Mary nodded in agreement, “Definitely. And it’s amazing to think about how we’re all part of this process of growth.”
As the weeks passed, I would visit the tree often, observing the little tree as it faced many challenges, including harsh weather and strong winds. But each time, it overcame them and continued to grow taller and stronger, providing shade and shelter for us. Its journey in the wind and rain was a test of its perseverance (坚持) and growth. It made me wonder whether I could be like the tree, growing and changing.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;

The little prince’s innocence (纯真) serves as a reminder of what is truly important in our own lives.

【答案】 One day, as I stood by the tree lost in thought, my teacher approached me. She asked, “What are you thinking about?” I explained my realization about the tree and how it mirrored my struggles. My teacher smiled warmly and said, “That’s exactly right. Just like the tree, you will face challenges, but you must keep growing. You need to persevere, adapt, and find strength within yourself. Remember, every difficulty you overcome makes you stronger.” Her words impressed me deeply, and I felt a renewed sense of determination. I decided then and there to approach my studies with the same persistence as the tree.
Reflecting on it now, I realize this conversation was a turning point in my life. Inspired by the tree’s growth and my teacher’s encouragement, I began to tackle my academic challenges . Slowly but surely, I noticed improvements in my grades. More importantly, I learned to consider challenges as opportunities for growth. This shift in mindset not only helped me academically but also taught me a lifelong lesson about the power of perseverance and the beauty of continuous learning. Whenever I face obstacles now, I remember the tree and the wisdom it taught me, reminding me that with patience and determination, I can overcome any adversity.
