If you want to speak English well, I think you should read English books and listen to English radio. You shouldn’t think in your language. You must think in English and speak what you think, and then you will be successful.

I think the most useful way is watching English films. But you know this all depends on yourself. If you work hard, you can find that speaking English is quite a funny thing. Keep moving! Nothing is impossible!
Ravi
Chandra
Don’t be afraid and then you will become a good speaker. Speak whatever you want in English in front of a mirror. Try this for just 30 days and then see the results. I hope you will practice this.

If you can study carefully for a long time, you will see the results. You should have a right way and speak English bravely. I believe you will smile in the end.

“Mrs. Lambert says I’m the best chess player in the school! She says you teach me well.”
“We’ll play after dinner,” Dad says.
At night, Miguel wants to help Dad clean out his suitcase (手提箱). “Wait, Miguel. I’ll take my next trip next morning.” “Oh, Dad!” Miguel cries. “But you just got here!” Miguel eyes the suitcase. When he was little, he got into the suitcase, thinking Dad could take him to work as well. Sometimes Dad traveled really far and it was day there when it was night for Miguel. They couldn’t even talk by phone.
“I’ll miss you,” Dad says. He then pets a box from his suitcase and hands it to Miguel.
Miguel opens it. A beautiful chess set!
“Thank you, Dad!” Miguel cries. “It’s so nice!”
It’s an exciting game of chess. When Miguel’s bedtime comes, it’s still not over. “Keep it. We’ll continue the game when we meet again, OK?” says Dad.
Miguel carefully takes the chessboard to his bedroom. He looks at it, wishing the game could continue.
“Oh, that’ll be a great idea!”

Students usually go to school in different ways. In our school, most students get to school between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Some arrive on foot, and some take the bus. However, eighty percent of the students arrive in their parents’ cars. The entrance (入口) to the school is crowded and dangerous. I think cars are the main problem. I think there are a few things we can do.
First, we should encourage students to take the bus or walk to school. Taking the bus can help cut down air pollution. Walking is healthier, too. Next, what should parents do if their children have to come to school by car? I think their parents should park their cars far away from the school entrance. For example, they can park their cars at the end of the street. Finally, in my opinion, when parents park dangerously in front of the school entrance, they will be punished and have to pay some money—a fine. This way, they will be cautious and think twice before parking.
In a word, cars are making it dangerous for students to enter the school safely. Therefore, encouraging students to walk to school, or asking parents to park away from the school gate could solve this problem.
23. How do most of the students go to school according to the text?
A. On the bike. B. On the bus. C. On foot. D. In the car.
24. What does the underlined word “cautious” in the second paragraph mean?
A. Thankful. B. Helpful. C. Careful. D. Different.
25. How many suggestions are mentioned in Paragraph 2?
A. 2. B. 3. C. 4. D. 5.
26 What does the text mainly tell us?
A. How to solve the traffic problem at the school entrance.
B. What makes students going to school more dangerous.
C. How to encourage students to go to school on foot.
D. When students get to and leave school every day.

①The scientific method is used for simple experiments that students may do in the classroom or very difficult experiments that scientists are doing all over the world. It is a way of thinking that helps you to avoid drawing incorrect conclusions (结论). There are usually four steps in the scientific method, including observation (观察), hypothesis (假设), experiment, and conclusion.
②The steps may not always be completed in the same order, but the first step is usually observation and asking a question about your observation. For example, you had a sick stomach, and ate a candy bar. An hour later, you observed that you felt much better. Here, you can ask a question, such as, “What makes a sick stomach feel better?”
③The second step is to state a possible answer to the question, or a hypothesis, such as “ ▲ ” A good hypothesis includes three things: The explanation for the observations, it is able to be tested, and it will usually predict new results or conclusions.
④The third step is the experiment, to test the hypothesis. An experiment is a test which will either challenge or support the hypothesis. The hypothesis will then be true or false.
⑤The final step is to think about what happened when you tested the hypothesis and draw a conclusion. The conclusion will either clearly support the hypothesis or it will not. If the results support the hypothesis, a conclusion can be written and you can share it with the rest of the world. If it does not support the hypothesis, you may choose to change the hypothesis or write a new one based on what was learned during the experiment.
27. How does the writer make us better understand the first step in Paragraph 2?
A. By comparing the differences between the steps.
B. By giving an example of asking a question.
C. By asking some questions about the step.
D. By presenting the questions during the experiment.
28. Which sentence can be put into “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 3?
A. A candy bar makes a sick stomach feel better.
B. It is the medicine that makes you feel better.
C. Eat a candy bar again, and see what happens.
D. Ask people if eating a candy bar makes them feel better.
29. What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph refer to?
A. The hypothesis. B. The conclusion. C. The question. D. The observation.
30. What’s the structure of the text?
A. B. C. D.

A. 2. B. 3. C. 4. D. 5.
26. What does the text mainly tell us?

C. Eat a candy bar again, and see what happens.
D. Ask people if eating a candy bar makes them feel better.
