This is an unparalleled opportunity for museum-goers. The highlight of the exhibition is Huang Gongwang’s surviving work Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, which is considered one of the top artistic paintings in China. Inspired by the still water and poetic views along Hangzhou’s Fuchun River, Huang painted the masterpiece between 1348 and 1350. It was literally burned into two pieces during the reign of Emperor Shunzhi (1644-1661) in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Its last keeper, Wu Hongyu, loved the painting so much that he ordered it to be burned so he could take it to the afterlife when he died. Wu’s nephew rescued the painting, which was already split into two parts. The first smaller piece, slightly over half a meter in length, was renamed The Broken Mountain (or Sheng Shan Tu) and made its way into the Zhejiang Museum in Hangzhou, while the other went to the Palace Museum in Taipei. Among the 13 top masterpieces, 10 pieces are painted in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) As the peak of ancient Chinese art, Song ink-wash paintings are considered the typical representative of traditional aesthetics (美学). Another highlight comes from Ma Yuan and Xia Gui. In their paintings, people can also be seen drinking tea, playing Chinese instruments. or entertaining friends. Usually, human figures only account for a small part of these paintings. highlighting man’s insignificance against nature and the painters’ detached (超然的) attitude toward life. 28. What does the word “unparalleled” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Limited. B. Unacceptable. C. Unique. D. Genuine. 29. What can we infer about Huang’s work Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains? A. It belongs to the Palace Museum in Taipei. B. It has been kept as a whole since the exhibition. C. It would have been destroyed without Wu Hongyu. D. That means Americans will be able to buy hearing aids later this year without seeing a doctor or receiving a medical examination. The devices are designed for adults with mild to moderate hearing problems. The FDA estimates that the hearing aids could help nearly 30 million adults in the United States, but only about one-fifth of people with hearing problems use the devices currently. “Today’s action by the FDA represents a significant milestone in making hearing aids more cost-effective and accessible,” Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, told reporters on Tuesday. The FDA first proposed the rule change for hearing aids last year and the new rules will take effect in the middle of October. The move follows years of pressure from medical experts and others to make the devices less costly and easier to get. However, cost is still a barrier right now. Americans can pay more than $5,000 for hearing aids, which is for the device itself and fitting services. Private insurance coverage is also limited for the devices. And government insurance for older people, known as Medicare, does not pay for them. Medicare only pays for hearing tests. “The requirement to see a specialist was not only a burden and an annoyance for many consumers but also it actually created a competitive barrier to entry,” said Brian Deese, a White House economic adviser. Deese added that the government estimates that Americans could save as much as $2,800 for a set of hearing aids if they want to buy them. But FDA officials noted that the savings will depend on when producers launch products and how much they cost. “It’s very hard to predict exactly what we’ll see and when” said Dr. Jeffrey Shuren, the FDA’s medical device chief. Shuren added officials expected to see increased competition from new producers and new products from existing hearing aid makers. 32. Who probably use the new hearing aid devices? A. The people who cannot afford medical fee. B. The 20 percent of people who can pay for them. C. The people who needn’t be examined by doctors. D. The adults whose hearing problems are not serious. 33. What might the rule change bring? A. Hearing tests for free. B. More pressure from medical experts. C. Lower cost of the hearing devices. D. More private insurance coverage. 34. What may Deese agree with? A. Seeing a specialist was unaccessible. B. Seeing a specialist was a troublesome experience. C. The government will save much medical expense. D. They were overflowing with stories and recipes from every corner of the globe, gathered during her wanderings in her youth. Those notebooks were like a time machine, taking her back to the days when her grandmother was young and full of life. She felt as if she could almost taste the flavors of the dishes her grandmother had cooked back then. The notebooks were more than just pages of paper and ink. They were a reflection of her grandmother’s life, a record of her experiences and learning. Each recipe was a memory, each story a lesson learned. And now, those notebooks were about to pass into Mary’s keeping. Her grandmother had promised to pass them down to her when she was old enough to appreciate them. Mary couldn’t wait to dive into those notebooks and discover more about her grandmother’s world. She was sure that they would be a rich source of knowledge and inspiration, and she was determined to honor her grandmother’s legacy (遗产) by preserving and cherishing those priceless notebooks. One day, while searching through her grandmother’s attic (阁楼) , Mary came across a pile of unfamiliar notebooks. As she turned the pages of one of them, she realized they were filled with intricate (错综复杂的) details of her grandmother’s life. However, some pages were missing. Mary was puzzled. She wondered what could have happened to those missing pages and what secrets they might have held. She was determined to discover the truth behind the notebooks and fill in the missing pieces of her grandmother’s life. With her heart pounding in her chest, Mary wildly searched the attic for those missing pages, but still couldn’t find them. Then, suddenly, she recalled her grandmother mentioning something about hiding things in plain sight. A light bulb went off in her head-the missing pages must be somewhere in the house! She knew she had to find them before they were lost forever. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 With renewed determination, Mary began her search. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mary carefully removed the envelope, trembling with excitement. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: With renewed determination, Mary began her search. First, she looked in the kitchen, the heart of her grandmother’s domain. She looked through the drawers, searched the cupboards, and even checked under the sink. Then she ventured into the living room, inspecting every inch of it. Just as she was about to give up, her gaze fell on a picture frame. It was a treasured possession from her grandmother, a memory from a past moment. As she inspected the frame, she saw it — a small envelope taped behind it. Mary carefully removed the envelope, trembling with excitement. At last, she found the missing pages! As she read through the yellowed pages, the words seemed to leap off the page, transporting her back to her grandmother’s kitchen. The familiar flavor of dishes her grandmother was cooking filled the air, and she could even hear her grandmother’s voice speaking to her. She felt like she was walking through her grandmother’s life again, experiencing the highs and lows, the adventures and misadventures. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride, but at the same time, it was a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Another possible version of paragraph 2: Mary carefully renewed the envelope, trembling with excitement. Some yellowed pages were there! Between the words, she learned what her grandmother treasured — one regretful quarrel with her parents for future choices at the age of 18, a faithful commitment her grandfather made on their wedding day, the diet preferences of all she loved, and so on. As Mary read on, she couldn’t hold back her tears and even whispered, “I miss you, Grandma! I miss the flavor! I miss yow? hugs!” These notebooks make Mary feel that her grandmother is never gone, and that her wisdom. her love, and her care for the whole family are still living in this world. 词汇激活 行为类 检查:check/inspect/examine 放弃:give up/quit 看见:see/spot 情绪类 美丽:beautiful /gorgeous 兴奋:excitement /thrill 【点睛】[高分句型1] As she inspected the frame, she saw it — a small envelope taped behind it. In 2011, the first section of the painting was loaned to the Palace Museum in Taipei where the two pieces were reunited for the first time since their separation over three and a half centuries ago. D The U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) has approved a new class of hearing aid devices, which do not require a medical exam. That means Americans will be able to buy hearing aids later this year without seeing a doctor or receiving a medical examination. The devices are designed for adults with mild to moderate hearing problems. The FDA estimates that the hearing aids could help nearly 30 million adults in the United States but only about one-fifth of people with hearing problems use the devices currently. However cost is still a barrier right now. “It’s very hard to predict exactly what we’ll see and when,” said Dr. D. Americans will pay more money for medical care. 35. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. When the cost will be reduced is uncertain. B. Existing hearing aid makers can benefit most. C. Officials will decide the price of the hearing aids. D. New producers will succeed in the competition. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 Traveling with kids, regardless of the age, is a terrible thing for new parents. She was determined to discover the truth behind the notebooks and fill in the missing pieces of her grandmother’s life. With her heart pounding in her chest, Mary wildly searched the attic for those missing pages, but still couldn’t find them.
