One day, I heard an American boy said to a Chinese girl student, “You speak very good English.” But the girl answered, “No, no. My English is very poor.” The American was quite surprised at the answer. Thinking he had not made 36 understood or the girl had not heard him clearly, he said, “Yes, indeed you speak very well.” 37 the girl still kept saying, “No.” In the end the American could not understand and didn’t know 38 to say.
What’s wrong with the girl’s answer? She didn’t 39 a compliment (恭维) in the same way as the American do. She should answer “Thank you” instead of “No”. She 40 understood what the American had said, but she thought she should be modest. In the 41 , people will feel proud and confident when they are praised. So if someone says the 42 you have cooked are very delicious, you should say, “Thank you.”
In our country we think being modest is a virtue and being proud is a bad thing, but in my opinion, being confident does not 43 being proud. When asking for a job, if one says 44 like “Yes, I can certainly do it” instead of “Let me have a try”, he or she will expect to get it. So in the west, you should be 45 to show your self-confidence.

Comfort Zone is a state of mind where there is the least stress. However, stepping into the learning zone can help to bring out the best in us. Here are the reasons.
Challenging yourself can help you do at your best.
Stepping outside one’s comfort zone is important to personal development. How can we expect to make ourselves better if we only stick to habit and routine(日常)? We should try something we might not succeed at.
Taking risks is what helps us grow.
As children, we’re natural risk-takers. But as we get older and learn to fear failure, we start trying fewer new things. We pay a heavy price for our fear of failure. There is no learning without some difficulty.
Facing new challenges can help us age better.
Our comfort zones seem to become smaller as we get older, but if we can keep expanding them, we’ll open ourselves up to a greater world as we age. As we step into the learning zone, we will get more comfortable with the skills gradually and we’ll start to move into the comfort zone. A study found that learning new life skills can help our brain stay sharp as we get older.
However, don’t push yourself too far. Have you heard of “Yerkes-Dodson Law”? It means performance increases as stress grows, but only up to a point. If the level of stress becomes too high, performance will go down. When stress becomes too great for us to deal with, we enter the danger zone.
56.Compared with the comfort zone, people in the learning zone may .
A.feel less stress B.face more challenges
C.make fewer efforts D.refuse more changes

Do you have a smart speaker to play your favorite song? Have you ever had a chat with Siri? I’m sure your answer must be yes. Voice assistants(语音助手) are programs on digital devices(装置). They listen and respond to users’ orders.
Today’s voice assistants can help you with many things. They can do almost anything you can think of. They can answer questions, make calls as well as provide weather, traffic, sports and other information. They can even control smart devices in your home, such as the lights and air conditioner.
So how do they understand us?
It all starts with a signal word. Users say the names of their voice assistants to get their attention. For example, they might say, “Hey, Siri!” The signal word wakes up the device and tells it to begin paying attention. After it hears the signal word, the voice assistant starts recording. The device waits for a pause to know you’ve finished your request(要求).It then sends your recorded request over the Internet to its database(数据库).
Once in the database, your request is compared to other requests. It’s divided into several orders that your voice assistant can understand. The database then sends these orders back to the device. When it receives the orders, the voice assistant will carry out the task you asked for.
Voice assistants are improving all the time. If you say to a smart speaker, “Play rock music,” and it plays country music, you’ll tell it to stop. This teaches the device that the orders it received from its database were wrong. It will tell the database about the mistake and try to do better next time. Sometimes a voice assistant might ask a question after it receives your request to make sure it understands what you want.
61. What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Popular songs. B. Signal words. C. Voice assistants. D. Digital devices.
62. How do the voice assistants begin to work?
A. Users call their names to wake up the device first.
B. They hear the users’ voices.
C. Users download some information from its database first.
D. Users create a quick list first.
63. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The smart speaker can receive written words.
B. Any orders can be understood by the voice assistants.
C. We can use voice assistants to control the smart refrigerator.
D. As soon as the voice assistant hears the signal words, it sends requests.
64. What’s the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. Users can teach voice assistants to understand.
B. Voice assistants make mistakes but can be improved.
C. A smart speaker can do almost anything you request.
D. Users should stop the voice assistant when it carries out the wrong task.
65. What’s the passage mainly about?
A. What voice assistants are. B. The problems of voice assistants.
C. The future of voice assistants. D. How voice assistants understand users.
