Still, spring break is usually a whole week off from schools in the US, so students make sure to take advantage of this time. Always taking place in March or April, spring break is a period when US students often take part in different kinds of activities. North Carolina, the state where I live, has some of the best hiking trails in the US and is home to many sunny beaches. My family takes spring break as an opportunity to do outdoor activities. During this time, we head outside to explore new hiking destinations (目的地) nearby, connecting with nature and enjoying exciting experiences. Those who are not outdoorsy pick a more relaxing spring break experience. Going to nearby beaches, shopping and attending local events become common activities for those who prefer to stay closer to home. Though students don’t usually get homework over spring break, many upperclassmen still have busy schedules as they want to focus on personal growth. Students can often be seen taking this time to catch up with schoolwork and prepare for the last days of the school year. Students see spring break as a chance to relax before the busy school time begins again. Whether enjoying the natural beauty of hiking trails or focusing on personal growth, students make the most of this time. 66.How long does spring break usually last according to the passage? 67.When does spring break take place? 68.In which state does the writer live in the US? 69.Why do many upperclassmen still have busy schedules during spring break? 70.What do you think of the US students’ activities during spring break? 参考信息: 加油 (jiayou): add oil (come on) 纸老虎 (zhilaohu): paper tiger (someone or something that is not as powerful as he/it looks) ... coffee→咖啡;sofa→沙发…… 豆腐→tofu;功夫→kung fu…… not a barrier but a carrier; pay attention to; the cultural meanings; understand better ... one day; a basketball game; Jiayou! A.his not being able B.his being not able C.not be able D.that he’s not able 【答案】A 【详解】句意:他为未能按时出席会议而道歉。 根据“to attend the meeting on time.” A。 2.—Do you have any problems if you _________ this job? —Well, I'm thinking about the working day. A.offer B.are offered C.will offer D.will be offered 【答案】B 【详解】句意:——如果你得到这份工作,你有什么问题吗?——嗯,我在想工作日的事。 B。 3.—You don't like watching cartoons, do you? —_________. A.Of course, I do B.No, I do indeed C.Yes, of course not D.No, I don't 【答案】D 【详解】句意:——-你不喜欢看动画片,是吗?——不,我不喜欢。 Of course, I do当然,我喜欢;No, I do indeed错误构成;Yes, of course not 错误构成;No, I don't不,我不喜欢。反意疑问句要根据事实作答,根据空后“And I have little time to watch them”可知,此处是说不喜欢,应该是否定回答No, I don’t。故选D。 4.He has made ______ many great achievements ______ he is often spoken highly of. A.such, to B.so, that C.such, that D.too, to 【答案】B 【详解】句意:他取得了如此多的成就,以至于经常受到高度评价。 B。 5.If you see the cartoon film, you will ________ laugh. A.be made B.be made to C.made to D.make 【答案】B 【详解】句意:如果你看了那部卡通片,你会被逗笑的。 根据“If you see the cartoon film, you will...laugh.” make是役使动词,在主动语态中make sb. do sth.使某人做某事,而在被动语态中要补上主动语态中省略的to,即sb. be made to do sth.。故选B。 6.—Could you tell me how to pay for the food by QRcode on the phone? —________. A.Take it easy B.It’s my pleasure C.With pleasure D.You’re welcome 【答案】C 【详解】句意:——你能告诉我怎样用手机二维码给食物付费吗?——乐意效劳。 Take it easy不要着急;It’s my pleasure乐意效劳,多用于回答他人致谢的语境;With pleasure乐意效劳,用于回答他人请求的语境;You’re welcome不客气;根据“Could you tell me how to pay for the food by QRcode on the phone?” C。 7.I never doubt ________ the Reed Flute Cave in Guilin is well worth ________. A.whether; visiting B.if; a visit C.that; a visit D.that; to visit 【答案】C 【详解】句意:我从不怀疑桂林的芦笛岩值得一游。 be worth“值得……”后可接名词或动名词,即is well worth visiting/a visit。故选C。 8.—All right. I’ll take it. But I tell you, it is the last time that I will ________ this kind of work. —Come on, buddy! Don’t be so serious. A.take off B.take on C.take out D.take up 【答案】B 【详解】句意:——好吧。 B。 9.Billy and Jack have come back, but ______students in the class aren't here yet. A.the other B.other C.another D.the others 【答案】A 【详解】句意:贝蒂和约翰已经回来了,但是班级里其他的学生还没有回来。 A。 10.—Wake up now, ______ you will be late for the meeting. —Mom, the meeting______ put off. I don't have to get up now. A.and ; was B.or ; will be C.and ; is D.or ; has been 【答案】D 【详解】句意:——现在醒醒,不然开会就要迟到了。 In the Western Jin Dynasty there was a man named Yue Guang. 66. Perhaps you would prefer to make paint from peanuts, or maybe you would like to bake with peanut flour. Glue? Paper? Rubber? The list goes on and on.
