根据Shrewsbury eBike Hire部分中的“The route is easy to follow with lots of stops along the way, including the Welsh Bridge, Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery and the Victorian-era Shrewsbury Prison. (这条路线很容易走,沿途有很多站,包括威尔士桥、什鲁斯伯里博物馆和美术馆以及维多利亚时代的什鲁斯伯利监狱。)”可知,文中提到电动自行车游可以自由地游览市内,并且沿途有很多停靠点,包括桥梁、博物馆和监狱等。这表明电动自行车游提供了一种放松的旅行方式。故选C。 【22题详解】 细节理解题。根据Riverside Cabins部分中的“Cabins sleep between two and six guests and each come with their own hot baths, as well as Wi-Fi and smart TVs. (小屋可容纳2至6名客人,每间小屋都配有自己的热水浴缸、Wi-Fi和智能电视。)”可知,Riverside Cabins是一个农村小木屋组成的度假村,每间小木屋都配有热水浴缸、Wi-Fi和智能电视,适合2至6位客人入住,每个家庭都可以在这里度过宁静的假期。因此,Riverside Cabins是最适合家庭旅游的选择。故选B。 【23题详解】 推理判断题。根据Shrewsbury eBike Hire部分中的“The route is easy to follow with lots of stops along the way, including the Welsh Bridge, Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery and the Victorian-era Shrewsbury Prison. (这条路线很容易走,沿途有很多站,包括威尔士桥、什鲁斯伯里博物馆和美术馆以及维多利亚时代的什鲁斯伯利监狱。)”、 Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings部分中的“This was the world’s first iron-shaped building when it was built in 1797-a forerunner of the modern skyscraper (摩天大楼). (这是世界上第一座铁形状的建筑,建于1797年,是现代摩天大楼的前身。)”、Shrewsbury Market Hall部分中的“Situated in the centre of town, this was an innovative example of modern architecture when it opened in 1965. (它位于市中心,1965年开业时是现代建筑的创新典范。)”以及Riverside Cabins部分中的“Opened in 2020, Riverside Cabins is a rural collection of wooden cottages built in18th century, a 20-minute drive from Shrewsbury. (Riverside Cabins于2020年开业,是一座建于18世纪的乡村木屋,距离什鲁斯伯里有20分钟车程。)”可知,文章中提到什鲁斯伯里的景点包括一些历史悠久的建筑,因此悠久的历史可能是Shrewsbury吸引游客的原因。故选A。 B How long will it take you to read this article? On average, adults read about 240 words a minute, but I always take longer. I should probably feel embarrassed-but instead, I take joy in it. I got the habit of reading for pleasure from my mum. Reading is what I do first thing in the morning and last thing at night. But it’s always taken me a long time. When I started reviewing books, I was averaging 20 pages an hour. I have improved to about 30 pages, but that’s still slow, according to some literary critics. Book reviewers aren’t the only ones under pressure to read quickly. Pictures of “all the books I read this month” are all over social media. And reading has become a way of keeping up with the world. It is understandable that we try to make sense of events, but it can also fuel the idea that reading is a chore (苦差事), which it absolutely is not. Why would pleasure be equal to pace? My slow reading seems to be down to a combination of slower processing speeds, and “subvocalising” — sounding out words as I read them. But especially when it comes to the latter, I wouldn’t want to train myself to go faster. It was news to me that not everyone subvocalises, because one of my favourite things about reading is hearing the language in my mind. Without subvocalising, I wouldn’t have caught the music of those words. Recently, I finished a book of poetry. For two years, I read the poems each morning in the four minutes it took my coffee to be ready. It was a wonderful reminder that reading is never about quantity and always about the quality of time you spend with a text. So when you read, don’t stick a number on it ---- resolve to read for pleasure, not as a chore. 24. Why does the author like slow reading? A. It wins her fame online. B. It is a delightful practice. C. It comes from her mom. D. It helps her reach goals. 25. What do fast readers focus on? A. Quantity. B. Quality. C. Content. D. Sound. 26. What do the underlined words “the latter” in paragraph 4 refer to? A. Slower processing speeds. B. Learning language. C. Combining speeds and sounds. D. Reading words out. 27. What would the author agree with? A. Reading is a demanding task. B. Pace equals reading pleasure. C. Beauty of words needs tasting. D Poetry takes no effort to digest. B 25. A 26. D 27. 根据第一段“On average, adults read about 240 words a minute, but I always take longer. I should probably feel embarrassed-but instead, I take joy in it.(成年人平均每分钟阅读240个单词,但我总是花更多的时间。我可能会感到尴尬,但我却乐在其中)”可推知,作者喜欢慢读是因为这是一种令人愉快的做法。故选B。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“Pictures of “all the books I read this month” are all over social media.(社交媒体上到处都是“我这个月读过的所有书”的照片)”和倒数第二段“It was a wonderful reminder that reading is never about quantity and always about the quality of time you spend with a text.(这是一个很好的提醒,阅读不在于阅读的数量,而在于阅读时间的质量)”可推知,快速阅读者关注数量。故选A。 根据划线词上文“My slow reading seems to be down to a combination of slower processing speeds, and “subvocalising” — sounding out words as I read them.(我的阅读速度慢似乎是由于处理速度较慢和“默读”——在阅读时读出单词)”和“But especially when it comes to the latter(但特别是当涉及到后者时)”可知,the latter指的是“在阅读时读出单词”,即Reading words out。 根据倒数第三段“It was news to me that not everyone subvocalises, because one of my favourite things about reading is hearing the language in my mind. Without subvocalising, I wouldn’t have caught the music of those words.(对我来说,并不是每个人都能默读,因为我最喜欢阅读的一件事就是在脑海中听到语言。如果没有默念,我就听不出这些话的音乐)”可推知,作者可能会同意的是语言之美需要品尝。故选C。 C Suppose you’re eager to watch the latest televised sport. Nothing looks more attractive to you than your couch. But you also could use that time to figure out how to complete the home craft project, which will take you at least an hour of watching instructional videos to complete it. You know that you’d feel proud of yourself if you got it done. However, the couch’s attraction becomes too hard to resist. According to a research, your dilemma is an example of what’s called the “happiness paradox (悖论).” Simply stated, this is the tendency for people to choose a leisure activity that requires very little effort even though they know that a true mood boost would come from sharpening and applying their skills. Prior research showed that when given a choice, people would rather engage in passive rather than active pursuits during their leisure time. However, it’s an unreasonable choice because what will really make you happier is being busy in an activity that allows you to expand and strengthen your skills. Why would engaging in a more challenging activity increase happiness? The answer lies in the concept of “flow”, that is, when you’re using your abilities at their peak, you experience an uprush of happiness that pushes you through a challenging task. You won’t feel that way if you just do the simple task. Although the sofa is inviting compared to a halfway-done project, we still have a way to approach it. You can break the activity down into what can be more manageable sections. Looking more realistically at your abilities, and then seeking guidance, you can now feel better about the whole enterprise. The finding doesn’t mean that you have to abandon your couch all the time when you’ve got a choice about how to use your leisure time. Instead, you could put some variety into your choices. If you had a particularly tough week, either with managing your family or responsibilities at work, it’s fine to take a break. You don’t even need to feel guilty about that occasional use of “me-time.” 28. What is paragraph 1 about? A. Introducing a project. B. Defining a concept. C. Stating a phenomenon. D. Providing an instruction. 29. What is happiness paradox? A. An active pursuit B. A conflicting mindset. C. A leisure activity. D. An effortless choice. 30. How can you entertain yourself when doing a challenging task? A. By breaking the task into small units. B. By stepping out of your comfort zone. C. By finishing undone project right now. D By reducing the variety of your choice. 31. What does the research show? A. The method of improving skills. B. The management of responsibility. C. The happiness from easy activities. D. The wisdom of using your “me-time”. C 29. B 30. A 31. 根据第一段“Suppose you’re eager to watch the latest televised sport. C选项“Stating a phenomenon. (陈述一种现象)”符合题意。故选C。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“According to a research, your dilemma is an example of what’s called the “happiness paradox (悖论).” Simply stated, this is the tendency for people to choose a leisure activity that requires very little effort even though they know that a true mood boost would come from sharpening and applying their skills. Prior research showed that when given a choice, people would rather engage in passive rather than active pursuits during their leisure time. However, it’s an unreasonable choice because what will really make you happier is being busy in an activity that allows you to expand and strengthen your skills. 根据倒数第二段“Although the sofa is inviting compared to a halfway-done project, we still have a way to approach it. You can break the activity down into what can be more manageable sections. (虽然这个沙发与一个完成了一半的项目相比是诱人的,但我们仍然有办法接近它。你可以将活动分解成更易于管理的部分。)”可知,面对有挑战性的任务时,可以将其分解为更易于管理的部分来应对。故选A。 通读全文,尤其是根据第二段中“According to a research, your dilemma is an example of what’s called the “happiness paradox (悖论).” Simply stated, this is the tendency for people to choose a leisure activity that requires very little effort even though they know that a true mood boost would come from sharpening and applying their skills. Prior research showed that when given a choice, people would rather engage in passive rather than active pursuits during their leisure time. However, it’s an unreasonable choice because what will really make you happier is being busy in an activity that allows you to expand and strengthen your skills. D选项“The wisdom of using your “me-time”. (使用‘个人时间’的智慧)”符合题意。故选D。 D Working with ARIA Research, a startup developing vision for the blind, Phoebe Peng is using technologically advanced human echolocation (回声定位) that enables blind users to perceive their surroundings in precise detail. The process uses event cameras which, unlike normal cameras that take complete images of a scene, track changes in an image over time, making them ideal for the observation of small objects like table tennis balls. The images are then processed into sound using a specialised algorithm (算法). This is then communicated back to the player via a lot of loudspeakers, ultimately with the aim of allowing players to track the ball and movements using sounds. According to Peng, table tennis makes a perfect test case for the kind of technology being developed by ARIA Research. “Table tennis has been played for decades as a more accessible version of tennis. The sport is beginner-friendly while maintaining a rich level of competitive play. However, like many sports, it remains difficult for people who suffer vision loss or have low vision,” said Ms Peng, who will soon complete a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering. “The small size of the ball and table, along with the movement of the ball in 3D space, are things that make table tennis difficult to play for those with low vision and complete blindness,” said Peng, who is completing the work for her degree. “Making this sport more accessible while also exploring the potential of event cameras were my two biggest motivators,” she said. In one study, using two perfectly positioned cameras, Ms Peng was able to identify and track a ball in three dimensions in real time. She then fed that data into an algorithm controlling the loudspeakers standing along the sides of the table, which created a sound field matching the position of the ball. While the results are promising, more experimentation will be needed before the system will be ready for actual play. “There are limitations on how accurately people can perceive sound localisation. What type of sound should be used? Should the sound be continuous? This is what we’ll be tackling in the next stage of development,” said Ms Peng. 32. How are event cameras different from normal ones? A. They can have sounds located. B. They are linked with loudspeakers. C. They constantly follow image changes. D. They take complete images of a scene. 33. What makes table tennis a perfect test case for the research? A. Its unique feature. B. Its fierce competition. C. Its technical complexity. D. Its beginner-friendliness. 34. What is the last paragraph mainly about concerning the study? A. Its inspiring results. B. Its promising future. C. Its practical applications. D. Its technological challenge. 35. What could be the best title for the text? A. Technology Opens up Blind Table Tennis B. Blind People Work Wonders in Table Tennis C. Event Camera Reshapes Future for the Disabled D. Algorithm Helps Translate Imagination to Sound 【答案】32. C 33. A 34. D 35. 根据第二段“The process uses event cameras which, unlike normal cameras that take complete images of a scene, track changes in an image over time, making them ideal for the observation of small objects like table tennis balls.(该过程使用事件相机,与拍摄场景完整图像的普通相机不同,事件相机可以跟踪图像随时间的变化,使其非常适合观察像乒乓球这样的小物体。)” 根据第三段“Table tennis has been played for decades as a more accessible version of tennis. The sport is beginner-friendly while maintaining a rich level of competitive play.(几十年来,乒乓球一直是一种更容易上手的网球运动。这项运动对初学者是友好的,同时保持了丰富的竞技水平。)”可知,让乒乓球成为这项研究的完美测试案例的是它的独特之处:对初学者友好,同时保持竞技水平。故选A。 根据最后一段“There are limitations on how accurately people can perceive sound localisation. What type of sound should be used? Should the sound be continuous? This is what we’ll be tackling in the next stage of development(人们感知声音定位的准确度是有限的。应该使用什么类型的声音?这个音应该是连续的吗?这是我们下一个发展阶段要解决的问题)”可知,最后一段关于研究的主要内容是它的技术挑战。故选D。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“Working with ARIA Research, a startup developing vision for the blind, Phoebe Peng is using technologically advanced human echolocation (回声定位) that enables blind users to perceive their surroundings in precise detail.(Phoebe Peng与ARIA Research(一家为盲人开发视力的初创公司)合作,使用技术先进的人类回声定位技术,使盲人用户能够准确地感知周围环境的细节。)”和第四段““The small size of the ball and table, along with the movement of the ball in 3D space, are things that make table tennis difficult to play for those with low vision and complete blindness,” said Peng, who is completing the work for her degree. “Making this sport more accessible while also exploring the potential of event cameras were my two biggest motivators,” she said.(Peng,正在完成她的学位研究,说:“乒乓球和乒乓球台的尺寸太小,再加上球在3D空间中的运动,使得那些视力低下和完全失明的人很难打乒乓球。” 故选A。 My mom is one of the least wasteful people I know. Remember: Lowering the amount of waste you create doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing pursuit. ____40____ A. You can try reusing your containers. B. You can live a low-waste lifestyle too. C. She used to bring reusable bags to the market. D. You might write “used wipes and paper towels” under “nursery.” E. I do this now too and the rags are perfect for household cleaning. 可知,该段落主要讲述重新利用容器的建议,故A选项“You can try reusing your containers. 故选A。 【39题详解】 由上文“Maybe you can mend an old pair of jeans instead of buying a new pair. 可知,本空要进一步说明这种方法的有效性,故E选项“I do this now too and the rags are perfect for household cleaning. 【40题详解】 由上文“Remember: Lowering the amount of waste you create doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing pursuit. (记住:减少你创造的浪费量并不一定是一个孤注一掷的追求)”可知,末段总结,指出减少垃圾的产生不必一蹴而就,故F选项“Find changes that work for you and you’ll be more likely to stick with them. Every morning, Robiuson, the 41-year-old charity worker, will leave his home to set out on his lonely marathons, all before a full day’s work. I was another girl entirely, one who was considered “nice girls”, and the top student in class. Not that I didn’t care about friends or fun, I just didn’t think it was worth putting lots of time and effort into changing how I looked, how I acted, even as I started high school. Marissa was “that girl” — fun to be around, good to know. We are different, but our friendship began the first time we met at an exciting soccer match, on the second day of freshmen year. The excitement of the game and our shared interest in soccer connected us, I was deeply impressed with her enthusiasm, while she admired my calm. Our conversations went smoothly, and our relationship quickly turned into a close bond. However, as the school year progressed, Marissa’s outgoing personality began to conflict with my reserved nature. She stood out in social situations, constantly asking me to attend parties and social events. While I appreciated her efforts to include me, I felt awkward and uncomfortable to be forced into unfamiliar surroundings. Our once harmonious friendship started to crack, I tried to turn down her invitations, but in vain. One evening, Marissa persuaded me to attend a large party at a classmate’s house. Surrounded by loud music and strange faces, I felt uneasy and upset. Marissa was the queen of the party, leaving me feeling extremely lonely. Her personality attracted others to her, creating a barrier between us. Paragraph 1: At that moment, I realized the growing divide between us. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Since then, we worked together to find a balance of our personalities. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】At that moment, I realized the growing divide between us. The yawning gap between Marissa's exuberance and my reticence became painfully evident. Her lively presence at the party only enhanced my sense of isolation. I felt a sense of sorrow as I watched her effortlessly mingle, while I remained a mere spectator in the shadows. Since then, we worked together to find a balance of our personalities. We embarked on a journey of mutual understanding, with candid dialogues and a willingness to compromise. Marissa began to value the calmness of quiet moments, and I ventured beyond my comfort zone, joining her in social engagements that were less daunting. We explored shared interests beyond soccer, such as community service and book discussions, which fostered a deeper connection. Our friendship, once swaying on the brink, now flourished with a newfound appreciation for our individuality. 词汇激活 行为类 ①一起走路:walk together/stroll together ②回家:go back home/return home ③拒绝:shake his head/decline ④努力:make an effort/endeavor 情绪类 ①感谢:showing his appreciation/express gratitude ②积极:positive attitude/optimistic outlook ③孤独:sense of alienation/feeling of isolation ④欣赏:appreciation/admiration 【点睛】[高分句型1] I felt a sense of sorrow as I watched her effortlessly mingle, while I remained a mere spectator in the shadows.(运用了as引导的时间状语从句和while连接的并列句) [高分句型2] We embarked on a journey of mutual understanding, with candid dialogues and a willingness to compromise.(运用了with的复合结构) [高分句型3] We explored shared interests beyond soccer, such as community service and book discussions, which fostered a deeper connection.(运用了which引导的非限定性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2023-2024学年福州市高三年级4月末质量检测 英语试题 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? It is understandable that we try to make sense of events but it can also fuel the idea that reading is a chore (苦差事), which it absolutely is not. D. Poetry takes no effort to digest. C Suppose you’re eager to watch the latest televised sport. Nothing looks more attractive to you than your couch. But you also could use that time to figure out how to complete the home craft project which will take you at least an hour of watching instructional videos to complete it. D. By reducing the variety of your choice. 31. What does the research show? A. The method of improving skills. B. The management of responsibility. C. The happiness from easy activities. D. The wisdom of using your “me-time”. D Working with ARIA Research a startup developing vision for the blind, Phoebe Peng is using technologically advanced human echolocation (回声定位) that enables blind users to perceive their surroundings in precise detail. D They take complete images of a scene. 33. What makes table tennis a perfect test case for the research? A. Its unique feature. B. Its fierce competition. C. Its technical complexity. D. Its beginner-friendliness. 34. What is the last paragraph mainly about concerning the study? A. Its inspiring results. B. Its promising future. C. Its practical applications. D. Its technological challenge. 35. What could be the best title for the text? A. Technology Opens up Blind Table Tennis B. Blind People Work Wonders in Table Tennis C. She always brings her own metal containers to buy basic foods like rice and flour. ____36____ The key is to be creative about reducing plastic and other waste — just like my mom does at home. One effective way is to conduct a review of household rubbish. List the rubbish by room or by activity. ____37____ This examination will help you assess your waste output and identify the ways to reduce it. For example, use reusable bags if you find a lot of plastic bags piling up under your sink. ____38____ A lot of low-waste solutions might seem like they require buying special containers like silicone (硅胶) replacements for your Ziplock (带封口的) bags. But you don’t need to spend money on those items. Instead, figure out a way to repurpose the waste. Use empty cans, boxes and other food containers to store leftovers. Reyond repurposing food containers, explore ways to save household items before throwing them away. Maybe you can mend an old pair of jeans instead of buying a new pair. Or maybe you can cut up old T-shirts into rags, which is what my mom used to do with my dad’s old T-shirts. ____39____ I don’t feel bad about getting grease (油脂) on them. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null
