From my point of view, as a student, innovative thinking allows me to think differently, which further
provides me with possibilities to move forward when I’m stuck under the pressure from parents and schoolwork.
After entering Grade 9, feeling stressed out every day, I found it so tiring to communicate with my mom.
Last Friday, we had a big fight again and I knew we were in great need of talk. That night, I lay in my bed and
thought for a long while, trying to figure out a solution. What if we wrote things down instead of talking, I thought
to myself. The next day, I bought two pretty notebooks and did as planned. To my relief, my mom accepted and
filled up nearly three pages. I saw tears running down her face while she was writing. Then we exchanged them
and as soon as I started reading, I burst out crying and so did she. Finally, it felt like all the sadness and stress
went away from my body. Our creative way of communicating helped me realize so many things I had never
thought of before.
