07选择性必修第二册高考题型综合训练 一、阅读理解 (一) Aarrav Anil, the 17-year-old student with a passion for robotics from Bengraluro, invented a smart spoon that can help people with Parkinson’s disease eat with dignity. Aarrav’s interest in creating a smart spoon came from seeing his uncle Arjun who has Parkinson’s disease struggling to feed himself. This disease affects the brain and leads to involuntary shaking. Hence, food kept spilling out of his mouth and onto his clothing. Aarrav wanted his uncle to be able to eat by himself with dignity.   Aarrav took to his room with microcontrollers, motors, sensors and a 3-D printer. Not everything went smoothly. “It was frustrating not being able to find the tiny electronics parts I needed here in India. I had to order some from China, but they took ages to arrive,” Aarrav said. Through tireless efforts, Aarrav made a first model but the handle was too slippery for his uncle to use so he had to change it. Then the prototype (雏形) went to be tested at the RV College of Physiotherapy in Bengaluru. “I’ve been fine tuning the design based on the college’s feedback — that it needs to be waterproof (防水的) so that it can be washed without damaging all the electronics inside; and that it must be detachable (可拆卸的) so it can be cleaned and replaced by a fork,” Aarrav said. The trials being conducted at the college are expected to be completed by early 2025 and the results will be published in a medical journal. Aarrav hopes that his smart spoon will begin to be produced on a small scale when the testing is complete. While other smart spoons already exist and two US companies are already producing their own versions, the cost is too high for most Indians. Aarrav’s version is estimated to cost around $80. His hope is that everyone with Parkinson’s disease will have access to a smart spoon. 1.What can Aarrav’s invention help people with Parkinson’s disease do? A.Maintain their physical balance. B.Boost their mood and relieve stress. C.Rid them of uncontrollable shaking. D.Feed themselves much more easily. 2.What is emphasized about the invention of the smart spoon in Paragraph 3? A.Its challenges. B.Its popularity. C.Its functions. D.Its application. 3.Which can best replace the underlined word “tuning” in Paragraph 4? A.Publicizing. B.Adjusting. C.Outlining. D.Simplifying. 4.Which of the following best describes Aarrav? A.Persevering and sociable. B.Intelligent and humble. C.Ambitious and caring. D.Sensitive and genuine. (二) When we’re studying a new language, many of us approach it with dread. If we make a mistake or say something wrong, we judge ourselves strictly. But as it turns out, however, we’d benefit by shifting (转移) our focus and worrying less about getting it right, according to Marianna Pascal, a communication skills trainer. As a teacher who’s spent 20 years in Malaysia helping people speak better English, Pascal noticed that some students didn’t get a high language level but could still communicate very effectively. She remembers one specific student named Faisal. Despite not knowing much English, she says, “This guy could just sit and listen to anybody very calmly, clearly, and then he could respond and express his thoughts beautifully.” She also observed some students knew quite a bit of English but struggled to make themselves understood. Pascal noticed that a lot of these students’ attitude towards English is like her daughter’s attitude towards playing the piano. Pascal says her daughter hated piano and hated practicing, because she was afraid of being wrong. To her, her success in piano was measured by how few mistakes she made. Then she shared her experience in a cafe. The person sitting next to her was playing a game while his friends watched, and he just wasn’t a very good player. But at the same time, she saw something amazing. Even though this guy was terrible and his friends were watching him, there was no embarrassment or shyness. There was no feeling of being judged. Instead, he focused completely on the task at hand. Pascal says, “I suddenly realized that this is it. This is the same attitude that people hike Faisal have when they speak English.” Pascal believes that speaking a language isn’t like those exams many of us had to take in grade school, where a tiny mistake would result in a big red X from the teacher, In the real world, what matters is whether we can make ourselves understood. She says, “If you want to speak English well, don’t focus on yourself but focus on the other person and the goal you want to achieve.” 5.What does the underlined word “dread” mean in paragraph 1? A.Fear. B.Doubt. C.Curiosity. D.Confidence. 6.Why does Pascal mention her daughter? A.To provide some advice. B.To offer some details. C.To state a reason. D.To present a fact. 7.What did Pascal see from the man playing a game? A.Never minding others’ opinions. B.Not judging a person too soon. C.Improving through practicing. D.Playing a game with patience. 8.What might Pascal agree with ? A.It is important for teachers to encourage students in exams. B.It is OK to make small mistakes in speaking a language. C.Language has to be fluently spoken in daily life. D.Language is an art difficult to fully master. (三) As the shift from traditional farming to modern farming is progressing, the use of technology such as drones (无人机), robots and machinery has also begun, producing favorable results and increasing efficiency in the industry. A farmer from the Philippines, Rey Kent Dejesica, wanted to help and contribute to the agriculture industry. Through an advertisement, he saw DIAGRAS drones and was interested in the idea of drones being used for farm applications. In the Philippines, when people think of farmers or agriculture, they usually picture long hours working in the sun. Farming is an onerous process, especially for young people, who like everything instant. “Rice and bananas are the primary sources of income in my city. I want to contribute to the agriculture industry in a way to reduce growers’ expenses and make the usage of pesticides (农药) more precise and efficient because I’ve seen how innovative individuals are and how they always find ways and methods to make tasks easier,” Rey Kent Dejesica said. “Using drones as a sprayer (喷雾器) also lessens human labor. Besides that, we can obtain a bird’s-eye view of fields and spay crops precisely and effectively with drones,” Rey Kent Dejesica said. Moreover, farmers stated that the use of drones also minimized the Panama disease. “After we switched to drone technology, our field became more beautiful,” they added. Agriculture is the main source of income for some Asian regions. Parts of Asia are now going through a rapidly aging farmer population and a fear of food shortage. That is why the youth must be part of the trade to ensure food security in the future. Advancements in agricultural technology such as drones can attract the youth back to the farming scene. Armed with his knowledge of drone technology and having a positive attitude, Rey Kent sets an example for the next generation of farmers. May this be a stepping stone showing that farming is not something to be embarrassed about, but to be accepted through applying new technology. 9.Why was Rey Kent Dejesica interested in using drones for farming? A.He was influenced by his parents. B.He was doing experiments with drones. C.He wanted farmers to stop using pesticides. D.He aimed to use them to help the agricultural industry. 10.What does the underlined word “onerous” in paragraph 2 mean? A.Simple. B.Creative. C.Heavy. D.Dangerous. 11.What do the farmers think of the use of drones? A.Helpful. B.Harmful. C.Useless. D.Funny. 12.What is the fourth paragraph mainly about? A.The aging farmer population in Asia. B.The importance of food security in the world. C.The youth’s role in high-tech agriculture. D.The advancements in agricultural technology. (四) Fishing trips to Canada are a tradition for Jeffrey Hardy and his three friends from America. This summer in 2023, the forest air polluted with wildfire smoke forced the men to give up their mid-June fishing plan. Canada’s wildfire season put its tourism industry at a crucial time. Except some days of poor air quality, major Canadian cities remain unaffected by wildfires. The fires are in the country’s northern areas that have drawn travelers interested in outdoor experience s in years past. In a recent report by Destination Canada, a marketing organization, half of the total spent by international visitors is in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. But other Canadian destinations attractive to visitors have been affected by the wildfires. In preparation for increasing visitor sizes and ongoing wildfires, some businesses are thinking about changing their operations, which see outdoor recreation as a tourism opportunity. A nonprofit travel agency is considering creating a questionnaire for customers to show when they would cancel a booking because of road closes from the wildfires, poor air quality and a lack of visibility. Tourism in British Columbia contributes greatly to its economy. The province has various recreational offerings from the major ski destinations to hiking along the coast. Blackcomb, a helicopter tour company, has canceled its sightseeing offerings, using most of its helicopters on the firefighting effort until at least early August. “It’s the question of flying our customers around on sightseeing tours or putting out fires within 10 kilometers of our bases and the communities that we live in,” said Jordy Norris, the company’s tourism director. “We made it clear to both our staff and our customers that we have a duty to protect the backyard.” Darrin Rigo, a photographer recently saw a photo of a beautiful waterfall covered in fire on a media page. “I’m sure that’s not going to last long, and everything will return to normal.” he said. 13.Which part of Canada is most affected by the wildfire? A.The northern areas. B.Canada’s central parts. C.Major Canadian cities. D.Places with few visitors. 14.What is a nonprofit travel agency’s response to wildfires? A.Using its helicopters on the firefighting effort. B.Raising money to put out the fire. C.Changing operations and developing outdoor recreation. B.In an effort to put out the wildfire. C.To fly its staff on sightseeing tours. D.To be busy creating a questionnaire. 16.What is Darrin Rigo’s attitude towards the development of Canada’s tourism? A.Positive. B.Neutral. C.Negative. D.Indifferent. 二、七选五 (一) It’s been said that good cooking is an art form. 17 It’s a way to teach kids vital skills, such as critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. It invites kids to make connections to the broader world by asking, “Where does our food come from?” and “What is the history of this recipe?” And it allows them to apply what they are learning in school in a new context. Cooking brings science concepts to life. 18 It also tests the math skills of young chefs. Measuring ingredients are frequent tasks in cooking or baking. 19 When Helen, 11, took her cake out of the oven, she was disappointed to find that it was flat as a board. I told her about how, as a preteen, I accidentally made cookies with garlic powder instead of powdered ginger. Then we worked together to figure out what had gone wrong with her cake. 20 It encourages kids to work with others. It also encourages them to be open to foods they otherwise might not have tried. Jad, 11, had never eaten quinoa (藜麦) before testing a recipe for quinoa with herbs. His parents reported that he was so excited about this new ingredient that he cooked it for his family the next night. Of course, the best part of cooking with kids isn’t just above. 21 This year, Olive and I have already done a lot of holiday baking, including our favorite chocolate-chip cookies. We both felt excited despite the mess that accompanied that experience. A.The truth is that it’s much more than that. B.It’s the memories you make together in the kitchen. C.Beyond the practical skills, cooking builds character. D.It is a valuable life skill that teaches children about patience. E.Cooking encourages your child’s interest and excitement in healthy foods. F.It is a perfect opportunity for them to learn that oil and water don’t usually mix. G.Recipe failures matter as much as the successes, as they help kids develop resilience (韧性) . (二) When I attended high school, I studied Spanish for four years — mainly because it was a requirement. When I landed a job working in restaurant management at a location with a nearly 100% Hispanic staff, I immediately regretted my lack of commitment when I was younger. Through some online help and a lot of assistance from my workers, however, I eventually became fluent in Spanish. 22 , there are several great reasons to do so. Improve Intelligence Research conducted at York University in Toronto, Canada found that people who studied a second language scored higher on standardized testing compared to those who did not. 23 . Travel More Conveniently Have you ever wished you could travel the world, but didn’t, because you were frightened by communication issues? 24 . Even if you only have a basic understanding of German, for example, a trip to Bonn or Berlin suddenly becomes that much more convenient and easy to negotiate. Increase Job Opportunities 25 . That means that companies in the US are in need of more workers who can speak second languages. If you’ve been feeling stuck in your current job or career, learning another language might be your ticket out of that situation. According to the website YouGov, only 25% of Americans speak a second language, and that means you can get a real leg up on the competition if you’re in that group. Strengthen Memory A huge part of learning a second language is memorization. 26 . Energizing the memory muscle of your brain allows you to better remember other items and events, potentially making you a stronger worker and enriching your life in general. A.If you speak their foreign tongue B.Learning a second language can put that fear to rest C.The economy is more globalized than ever before D.After all, you’re tackling a subject foreign to your mind E.Those tools can help you bone up on your English as well F.Whether or not your job requires you to learn a second language G.Learning a second language can also help you see things in a new light (三) Thailand has somtam, India has bhel puri and South Africa has a snack of bunny chow. They are some of the most famous street foods in these countries. Around 2.5 billion people eat street food around the world. The significance of street food culture is obvious in the following areas. ●Cultural identity Street food identifies community and tradition, keeping alive one of the most important aspects of local culture — the eating habits of the people. 27 Street food makes a community lively. It catches the attention of local people, no matter what social class they come from. 28 Food stalls (摊位) are often owned and run by a family. This makes current generations able to learn about where they have come from. ●Employment and business opportunities 29 In Tanzania, for example, the industry provides jobs for more than 1 million people. Since street food stalls are micro-businesses, it is possible for poor people to own their own stalls with only a small amount of money. 30 It prevents these vulnerable (脆弱的) social groups from falling further into poverty. ●Food accessibility The significance of street food culture also includes improved access to food across countries, including their poor communities. 根据文章第一段中“Aarrav Anil, the 17-year-old student with a passion for robotics from Bengraluro, invented a smart spoon that can help people with Parkinson’s disease eat with dignity.(来自班加罗尔的17岁学生Aarrav Anil对机器人技术充满热情,他发明了一种智能勺子,可以帮助帕金森病患者有尊严地吃饭)”可知,Aarrav的发明能帮助帕金森氏症患者更容易地自己进食。故选D。 2. 根据文章第三段中“Not everything went smoothly.‘It was frustrating not being able to find the tiny electronics parts I needed here in India. I had to order some from China, but they took ages to arrive.’Aarrav said. Through tireless efforts, Aarrav made a first model but the handle was too slippery for his uncle to use so he had to change it.(并不是一切都很顺利。“在印度找不到我需要的微型电子部件,我很沮丧。我不得不从中国订购一些,但它们花了很长时间才到。”Aarrav说。通过不知疲倦的努力。Aarrav做了第一个模型,但把手太滑了,他的叔叔无法使用,所以他不得不更换它)”可知,Aarrav在采购原件和设计中都遇到了困难。由此可知,第三段强调了智能勺子的发明过程中所面临的挑战。故选A。 3. 根据文章第四段划线词后“the design based on the college’s feedback — that it needs to be waterproof (防水的) so that it can be washed without damaging all the electronics inside; that it must be detachable (可拆卸的) so it can be cleaned and replaced by a fork, (根据学院的反馈,它需要防水,这样在清洗时不会损坏里面的所有电子设备;它必须是可拆卸的,这样就可以清洁和更换叉子)”可知,Aarrav根据学院的反馈对智能勺子进行调整,推测划线词的意思是“调整”。故选B。 4. 根据文章最后一段“Aarrav hopes that his smart spoon will begin to be produced on a small scale when the testing is complete. While other smart spoons already exist and two US companies are already producing their own versions, the cost is too high for most Indians. Aarrav’s version is estimated to cost around $80. 【答案】5.A 6.C 7.A 8.B 【导语】本文为一篇说明文。当我们学习一门新语言时,很多人都会怀着恐惧的心情去学习。但事实证明,只要我们转移注意力,减少对正确与否的担心,就能从中获益。 5.词句猜测题。根据第一段划线词后文“If we make a mistake or say something wrong, we judge ourselves strictly.(如果我们犯了错误或说错了什么,我们会严格地评价自己)”可知,当我们学习一门新语言时,我们许多人带着恐惧去学,划线词dread与fear意思相近,意思为:恐惧,害怕。故选A。 6.推理判断题。根据文章第三段“She also observed some students knew quite a bit of English but struggled to make themselves understood. Pascal noticed that a lot of these students’ attitude towards English is like her daughter’s attitude towards playing the piano. Pascal says her daughter hated piano and hated practicing, because she was afraid of being wrong. To her, her success in piano was measured by how few mistakes she made.(她还观察到一些学生虽然懂一点英语,但却很难让别人听懂。Pascal注意到很多学生对英语的态度就像她女儿对弹钢琴的态度一样。帕斯卡说,她的女儿讨厌钢琴,也讨厌练习,因为她害怕出错。对她来说,她在钢琴上的成功是由她犯的错误少来衡量的)”可推知,Pascal提到女儿学钢琴是为了说明造成学生们这种情况的原因,虽然他们懂一点英语,但是害怕出错。故选C。 7.细节理解题。根据文章第四段“The person sitting next to her was playing a game while his friends watched, and he just wasn’t a very good player. But at the same time, she saw something amazing. Even though this guy was terrible and his friends were watching him, there was no embarrassment or shyness. There was no feeling of being judged. Instead, he focused completely on the task at hand.(坐在她旁边的人正在玩游戏,而他的朋友在一旁看着,他并不是一个很好的玩家。但与此同时,她看到了一些惊人的东西。尽管这个人很糟糕,他的朋友们都在看着他,但他没有感到尴尬或害羞。没有被评判的感觉。相反,他完全专注于手头的任务)”可知,作者从这个玩游戏的人身上看到了他不在意别人的想法和看法。故选A。 8.推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Pascal believes that speaking a language isn’t like those exams many of us had to take in grade school, where a tiny mistake would result in a big red X from the teacher, In the real world, what matters is whether we can make ourselves understood.(Pascal认为,说一门语言不像我们许多人在小学必须参加的那些考试,在那里一个小错误就会导致老师给一个大大的红色X。在现实世界中,重要的是我们是否能让自己被理解)”可推知,Pascal认为,在学习语言时,犯一些小错误是没有关系的。故选B。 (三) As the shift from traditional farming to modern farming is progressing, the use of technology such as drones (无人机), robots and machinery has also begun, producing favorable results and increasing efficiency in the industry. 【答案】9.D 10.C 11.A 12.C 【导语】这是一篇新闻报道。文章报道了在菲律宾,无人机等高科技在农业生产中的使用情况,并强调了年轻人在高科技农业中的作用。 9.细节理解题。根据第一段中“A farmer from the Philippines, Rey Kent Dejesica, wanted to help and contribute to the agriculture industry. Through an advertisement, he saw DIAGRAS drones and was interested in the idea of drones being used for farm applications. (来自菲律宾的农民Rey Kent Dejesica希望帮助并为农业做出贡献。通过一则广告,他看到了DIAGRAS无人机,并对无人机用于农业应用的想法感兴趣。)”可知,Rey Kent Dejesica想用无人机技术助力农业生产。故选D项。 10.词句猜测题。划线词句前文“In the Philippines, when people think of farmers or agriculture, they usually picture long hours working in the sun.(在菲律宾,当人们想到农民或农业时,他们通常会想到长时间在阳光下工作。)”说明农业工作非常繁重,从而推知划线词句“Farming is an onerous process, especially for young people, who like everything instant.(农业是一个onerous过程,尤其是对年轻人来说,他们喜欢一切都是即时的。)”其中划线部分意思是“繁重的”。故选C项。 11.推理判断题。根据第三段“‘Using drones as a sprayer (喷雾器) also lessens human labor. Besides that, we can obtain a bird’s-eye view of fields and spay crops precisely and effectively with drones,’ Rey Kent Dejesica said. Moreover, farmers stated that the use of drones also minimized the Panama disease. ‘After we switched to drone technology, our field became more beautiful,’ they added. (‘使用无人机作为喷雾器也减少了人力劳动。除此之外,我们还可以鸟瞰田野,用无人机精确有效地喷洒作物。’此外,农民表示,无人机的使用也最大限度地减少了巴拿马病。‘在我们转向无人机技术后,我们的田野变得更加美丽,’他们补充说。)”可知,农民认为在田里使用无人机技术是有帮助的。故选A项。 12.主旨大意题。根据第四段中“That is why the youth must be part of the trade to ensure food security in the future. Advancements in agricultural technology such as drones can attract the youth back to the farming scene. (这就是为什么年轻人必须成为农业的一部分,以确保未来的粮食安全。无人机等农业技术的进步可以吸引年轻人回到农业现场。)”可知,本段主要说明了年轻人在高科技农业中的作用。故选C项。 (四) Fishing trips to Canada are a tradition for Jeffrey Hardy and his three friends from America. D.Creating a questionnaire for customers. 15.Why has Blackcomb called off its sightseeing offerings? A.To save the cost due to the decrease in the number of visitors. 【答案】13.A 14.D 15.B 16.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。加拿大的山林大火使旅游业受到很大的影响,但是人们依然对加拿大旅游业的发展充满信心。 13.细节理解题。根据第二段“The fires are in the country’s northern areas that have drawn travelers interested in outdoor experience s in years past.(火灾发生在该国北部地区,过去几年,那里吸引了对户外体验感兴趣的游客。)”可知,加拿大北部地区受野火影响最大。故选A。 14.细节理解题。根据第四段“A nonprofit travel agency is considering creating a questionnaire for customers to show when they would cancel a booking because of road closes from the wildfires, poor air quality and a lack of visibility.(一家非营利性旅行社正在考虑为客户制作一份调查问卷,以表明他们何时会因为森林大火导致的道路封闭、空气质量差和能见度低而取消预订。)”可知,非营利旅行社对野火的反应是为客户制作问卷。故选D。 15.细节理解题。根据第五段“Blackcomb, a helicopter tour company, has canceled its sightseeing offerings, using most of its helicopters on the firefighting effort until at least early August.(直升机旅游公司Blackcomb已经取消了观光项目,至少在8月初之前,它的大部分直升机都用于灭火工作。)”可知,Blackcomb取消了观光服务是为了扑灭野火。故选B。 16.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Darrin Rigo, a photographer recently saw a photo of a beautiful waterfall covered in fire on a media page. “I’m sure that’s not going to last long, and everything will return to normal.” he said.(摄影师Darrin Rigo最近在一个媒体页面上看到了一张美丽的瀑布被火覆盖的照片。“我相信这种情况不会持续太久,一切都会恢复正常。”他说。)”可知,Darrin Rigo对未来旅游业发展持乐观态度。故选A。 二、七选五 (一) It’s been said that good cooking is an art form. 【答案】17.A 18.F 19.G 20.C 21.B 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了学习烹饪对孩子们的多种好处。 17.根据前句“It’s been said that good cooking is an art form. (有人说好的烹饪是一种艺术形式。)”和后句“It’s a way to teach kids vital skills, such as critical thinking, creativity and collaboration. (这是一种教授孩子们重要技能的方法,比如批判性思维、创造力和协作能力。)”可知,烹饪不仅仅是一种艺术形式。A选项中的代词“that”指代的是上文的 “good cooking is an art form”,A项的意思是“事实上还不仅仅如此。”,与上文形成一个逻辑的递进关系。故选A。 18.本段首句说“Cooking brings science concepts to life. (烹饪可以将一些科学概念栩栩如生的呈现出来。)”可知,烹饪与科学概念密切相关,所以F选项中就举例说明“孩子们可以通过烹饪了解到水油不能相融的道理。”,下文还提到“It also tests the math skills of young chefs. (它还可以检测孩子们的数学技能。)”上下文在逻辑上紧密衔接。故选F。 19.本题为段首句,即为本段的中心句。根据后句“When Helen, 11, took her cake out of the oven, she was disappointed to find that it was flat as a board. 根据后文“It encourages kids to work with others. It also encourages them to be open to foods they otherwise might not have tried. (它鼓励孩子们和别人一起工作。它还鼓励他们对他们可能不会尝试的食物持开放态度。)”可知,本段在介绍烹饪的另一个好处,即“鼓励孩子彼此合作,并大胆尝试。”,这正是C选项中“cooking builds character”所表示的“烹饪塑造品格”。 故选C。 21.B选项中的“It”指代的是上文中的“Of course, the best part of cooking with kids isn’t just above. (当然,和孩子们一起做饭最好的部分不只是在上面。)”,和孩子一起烹饪最棒的地方正是在于“与孩子一起在厨房创造美好的回忆”,即为B选项中的内容,而下文作者以自己为例,介绍了今年作者和她的孩子做了很多烘焙,两人都很兴奋激动,来佐证这一观点。故选B。 (二) When I attended high school, I studied Spanish for four years — mainly because it was a requirement. A.If you speak their foreign tongue B.Learning a second language can put that fear to rest C.The economy is more globalized than ever before D.After all, you’re tackling a subject foreign to your mind E.Those tools can help you bone up on your English as well F.Whether or not your job requires you to learn a second language G.Learning a second language can also help you see things in a new light 【答案】22.F 23.G 24.B 25.C 26.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了作者根据自己学习西班牙语的经历,告诉我们无论你的工作是否要求你学习第二语言,都有必要学习。本文给出了几个很好的理由。 22.根据上文“Through some online help and a lot of assistance from my workers, however, I eventually became fluent in Spanish.(然而,通过一些网上帮助和我的工作人员的大量帮助,我最终能说一口流利的西班牙语。)”和下文“there are several great reasons to do so.(有几个很好的理由这样做。)”可知,上文提到作者通过在线帮助和员工的帮助,最终学会了西班牙语,接下来作者提到了学习第二语言有很多好处,因此可以推断出此处是在强调无论你的工作是否要求你学习第二语言,学习第二语言都是有益的。F项:Whether or not your job requires you to learn a second language(无论你的工作是否要求你学习第二语言)符合语境。故选F。 23.上文提到“在加拿大的约克大学进行的研究发现,学习第二语言的人在标准化测试中得分更高(Research conducted at York University in Toronto, Canada found that people who studied a second language scored higher on standardized testing compared to those who did not.)”,因此接下来需要解释为什么学习第二语言能提高智力。选项G Learning a second language can also help you see things in a new light(学习第二语言也可以帮助你以新的眼光看待事物)与前一句相衔接,解释了学习第二语言能提高智力的原因。G项:Learning a second language can also help you see things in a new light(学习第二语言也可以帮助你以新的眼光看待事物)符合语境。故选G。 24.根据上文“Have you ever wished you could travel the world, but didn’t, because you were frightened by communication issues?(你是否曾经希望自己能环游世界,但因为害怕沟通问题而没有实现?)”可知,上文提到你是否曾经梦想过周游世界,但因为沟通问题而未能成行。接下来需要找到一个解决这个问题的办法。B项:Learning a second language can put that fear to rest(学习第二语言可以消除这种恐惧)符合语境。故选B。 25.根据下文“That means that companies in the US are in need of more workers who can speak second languages.(这意味着美国的公司需要更多会说第二语言的员工。)”下文暗示了经济的全球化。因此,可以推断出此处是在强调经济全球化的趋势。C项:The economy is more globalized than ever before(经济比以往任何时候都更加全球化)符合语境。故选C。 26.根据上文“A huge part of learning a second language is memorization.(学习第二语言的很大一部分是记忆。)”可知,上文指出学习语言过程中记忆力的重要性,D项:After all, you’re tackling a subject foreign to your mind(毕竟,你是在处理一个对你来说陌生的问题)进一步强调了学习第二语言需要记忆的特点,与前文内容相衔接,符合语境。故选D。 (三) Thailand has somtam, India has bhel puri and South Africa has a snack of bunny chow. Since the cooks have low operation costs, street foods are low in price. 31 In a word, support for street food businesses could help to preserve culturally significant recipes, provide employment opportunities and supply low-cost food options. A.However, the industry has developed without outside assistance. B.The street food industry has offered new positions for low-income people.
