(23-24高二上·安徽马鞍山·开学考试)Being healthy is important. Often, we’re crazy about articles in health magazines talking about the latest popular diets, or advertisements that offer cures (疗法) for fatness that are often too good to be true. One of the latest crazy phenomena (现象) is intermittent fasting (间歇性禁食). 1
There are different ways of intermittent fasting. 2 Another common way is choosing a diet that sees people only eating during a limited part of the day, for example, over eight hours.
3 A study suggests intermittent fasting may help control blood sugar and reduce the possibility of suffering related disease. Other studies have shown intermittent fasting may help slow the ageing process, support brain function, lose weight, etc.
Some people try intermittent fasting for weight management, and others use the method to deal with some conditions such as high cholesterol or arthritis. 4 Fasting might not suit those who are underweight or with a long-term medical condition. Fasting may cause some people to experience symptoms (症状) such as headaches or make them easily suffer from overeating after a reduced calorie intake (热量摄入) day.
As with many diets, it’s always wise to speak to your doctor or weight-loss professional before changing your eating habits. And, at the end of the day, it could just come down to what lifestyle choice suits you. 5 If not, your health may suffer.
A.But what is intermittent fasting?
B.However, this diet isn’t for everyone.
C.Intermittent fasting has two main origins.
D.Let’s look at some of the possible benefits.
E.The idea of this is to reduce calories over a period.
F.In a word, you should avoid turning to intermittent fasting blindly.
G.You can eat normally on five days of a week and reduce calorie intake on the other two.
(23-24高二上·浙江杭州·开学考试)People these days are posting about their lives on social media. But what if you’re a private and introverted person like me? What if you want to live in the moment instead of sharing every bit of your life? To be honest, it’s nobody’s business but your own. 6
Escaping stalkers (跟踪者).
I’ve been a public person as a jazz vocalist for years. It exposed me to stalkers who felt they knew me, just because I was present everywhere. Needless to say, it brought me much anxiety and stress. At some point I asked myself-is being visible more important than my peace of mind? 7 The answer is a clear NO. I just want to spend life doing what I love with the people I love.
Protecting privacy
8 I need alone time to process what I’m struggling with and honest real talks with the people I trust. I might share a lesson learned from an experience, but now I won’t. I know that by keeping my life private on social media I may miss out on some connections, but I honor and respect the people in my life who value their privacy, so I am being mindful and protect that.
9
Another reason I keep my life private is that I prefer to be in the present moment and appreciate it fully. To be on your phone constantly, or to film everything you do, can be quite disrespectful to the people you spend your time with. You lose out on those spontaneous(自发的) moments and a deeper connection. I choose what I share and when I share it, and the rest is for experiencing life without expectations.
Live your life fully, regardless of whether the world knows it or not! 10 I just want you to know it’s OK if you don’t.
A.Experiencing life
B.Living in the moment
C.Don’t I really care about privacy?
D.Are my followers more important than my friends and family?
E.If you feel like sharing your life openly without hesitation, go for it.
F.Here are my reasons for not sharing my personal life on social media.
G.It can be quite challenging to go through tough moments with everyone watching.
For average working people, they normally change their careers five to seven times throughout their whole lives. 11 Without that, you are just a dreamer.
It happens that you neglect thinking about your career when you are busy, but you must spend time considering your current situation and your ideal career path to develop a specific career plan. 12 When you have a better understanding of yourself and what you want, you are more likely to make a plan that suits your goals and lifestyle. By this kind of self-reflection, you will discover the type of career you want.
13 You probably need SMART goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound to prepare for success. Studies prove that SMART goals work better when they are written down and shared with others. Sharing enhances your sense of responsibility while writing down allows you to commit them to memory. 14
Now that you have understood what you want and had your goals set and written down, it’s time to make career decisions. First, list pros and cons of different decisions. And then think about how each path lines up with your values. 15
How do you feel when talking about your career? Do you want to stay where you are or are you ready to make a change to take steps to achieve success? Reflect, set goals, and make your decision, and you’ll be on the right path in no time.
A.The next step is to figure out how to get there.
B.Consider your long-term and short-term objectives.
C.Finally, evaluate how they could influence your future.
D.Reflecting on yourself and your needs is also necessary.
E.The best way to be prepared for a career change is to make a plan.
F.After you’ve obtained an understanding of the job, next comes the evaluation part.
G.Therefore, you can always have access to them because they are kept in your subconscious.
(23-24高二上·河南·阶段练习)So much of our daily life relates to the internet, from work to education and even talking with friends. The more online accounts and devices you have, the more internet dangers you will face. That’s why it’s more important to understand internet safety rules which protect you and your family from threats that may harm your data and devices. 16
Make sure you’re using a safe internet connection
Although using public Wi-Fi is not recommended, it’s sometimes unavoidable when you are out. However, when you go online in a public place and use a public Wi-Fi connection, you have no direct control over its safety, which could leave you vulnerable (易受伤的) to cyberattacks. 17 .
Choose strong passwords
Passwords are one of the biggest weak spots when it comes to online safety. People often choose passwords that are easy to remember. 18 . In addition to this, using the same password for various sites puts your data at further risk. If hackers (黑客) get your identification from one site, they can probably access other websites which use the same login details.
19
Developers are often working to make products safe, monitoring the latest threats and rolling out security patches (安全补丁) in case of weaknesses in their software. By using the updated operating systems and apps, you will benefit from the latest security patches. This is especially important for apps that include payment, health or other personal information about a user.
Be careful of uncertain links and where you click
20 . That’s why it’s important to browse carefully and avoid certain types of online content—such as links from untrusted sources. If you receive an email that you’re not sure about, avoid clicking on any links in it. In fact, it’s best to avoid opening untrusted emails at all.
A.Be careful of what and where you post
B.Keep software and operating systems updated
C.Read on to find out about the ways to stay safe online
D.A careless click can give out your personal data online
E.But some of those sites may have poor data protection policies
F.Therefore, it’s easy for hackers to break into your system
G.So, if necessary, avoid carrying out personal businesses that use private data
We all know the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. This is an old proverb we learn from an early age. 21
Have you ever noticed that when you do something nice for someone else, it makes you feel better too? This isn’t just something that happens randomly (随机地). 22 Doing nice things for others increases your serotonin (血清素), which is responsible for feelings of satisfaction and well-being.
23 While there are several ways to reduce anxiety, it turns out that being nice to others can be one of the easiest, most inexpensive ways to keep anxiety at bay. University of British Columbia researchers found that participants who engaged in kind acts displayed significant increases in positive afct (积极情感) that lasted over the four weeks of their study. So, the next time you’re feeling anxious, look for opportunities to help others.
Making others feel good can “warm” your heart, sure — but being nice to others can also affect the actual chemical balance of your heart. Kindness releases the hormone oxytocin which reduces blood pressure and therefore protects the heart. 24 Maybe that’s why they say nice, caring people have really big hearts.
Kindness can help you live longer. You may be shaking your head at this one, but there’s science to back it up. According to Health.com, you’re at a greater risk of heart disease if you don’t have a strong network of family and friends. When you’re kind to others, you develop strong, meaningful relationships and friendships. 25
A.Anxiety is an extremely common human experience.
B.This behavior can help you handle stressful situations.
C.Kindness strengthens your heart physically and emotionally.
D.It has something to do with the pleasure centers in your brain.
E.Besides improving personal relationships, kindness can make you healthier.
F.So, make some new friends, or expand your kindness to the ones you already have.
G.However, there are a number of real-life benefits connected with the way we treat others.
(22-23高二上·陕西咸阳·开学考试)The news plays an important role in our lives, which has been emphasized even further during the past year. If you find yourself beginning to feel negative impacts from the news, it is the time to start putting protective steps into place.
Control consumption. This includes taking some time out from the media. 26 . For example, do you tend to feel more negative impacts if you read the news when you’re tired or just before bed, or during periods of increased stress? If so, you may wish to limit exposure at certain times of day or in particular contexts.
27 . Never blame yourself for negative emotions. It is your right to feel how you do. In doing so, acknowledge that you have control over your reactions. This can help you feel more empowered to act positively.
Focus on the positive. 28 , try to find some other resources to focus on. For instance, during the current pandemic, the WHO suggests focusing on recovery stories.
Seek support. Contact support groups or health care professionals. It’s important to recognize the value of positive social support and to recognize that seeking help is a positive and strong step. These contacts can also help you find other helpful resources. 29
What works for one person may not be the best approach for another. Everyone is an individual. 30 . Do not hesitate to seek professional help to guide you through this process.
A.Take ownership over your emotions
B.Take time to find what works for you
C.Always remember that you are not alone
D.It’s also important to invest time in self-care
E.If you’re being disturbed by negative news coverage
F.Staying informed and educated is particularly important
G.Alternatively, you may have noticed a pattern you are experiencing

Over the past years, countless studies conducted have shown the positive effects that laughing has on one’s physical and mental health. Are you ready to laugh more? Below you’ll find five ways to bring more laughter into your life.
Smile more. Smiling is not laughing. ____6____ When you smile, happy changes begin to take place naturally, both internally and externally. In addition, you can think of smiling as a warm-up for laughing.
Learn to laugh at yourself. Most of us take ourselves too seriously. ____7____ Learning to laugh at yourself takes some of the pressure off. You can look for the funny side of things. When you’re upset about something, ask yourself “How is this situation funny?” Humor can even turn a negative into a positive.
Share stories from the past. Do you remember one time in high school that you and your best friend wore false hair and matching clothes around your neighborhood? Or, how about when your best friend sat on a painted bench by accident? ____8____
Take up something new. When you try something new — whether it’s to draw or learn to roller skate — your original attempts will likely be clumsy (笨拙的) and even ridiculous (荒谬的). ____9____ So taking up something new is likely to result in laughs.
____10____ We are heavily influenced by the people we are with, so by hanging out with funny people, we can add more laughter into our days. That positive and silly energy will immediately rub off on (感染) us and it can cause us to want to feel happier and sillier throughout our days.
A.That is funny.
B.It has a lot of benefits.
C.Follow funny people on Twitter.
D.Surround yourself with funny people.
E.These reminders can make us feel silly and childlike.
F.For better results, think of a funny moment from the past.
G.So our ability to find the humor in difficult situations can be limited.
【答案】6.B 7.G 8.E 9.A 10.D
6.根据前文“Smiling is not laughing.(微笑不是大笑)”以及后文“When you smile, happy changes begin to take place naturally, both internally and externally.(当你微笑时,快乐的变化开始自然发生,无论是内在还是外在)”可知,空处是一个过渡句,起到连接前后文的作用,根据后文句意,可知是在讲微笑的好处,所以B项“It has a lot of benefits.(它有很多好处)”符合文意。故选B项。
7.根据本段首句“Learn to laugh at yourself.(学会自嘲)”可知,本段主要讲述不要对自己太严厉,再根据前文“Most of us take ourselves too seriously.(我们大多数人都太把自己当回事了)”以及后文“Learning to laugh at yourself takes some of the pressure off.(学会自嘲可以减轻一些压力)”可知,空处应该是对前句的进一步解释,所以G项“So our ability to find the humor in difficult situations can be limited.(所以我们在困境中找到幽默的能力是有限的)”符合文意。故选G项。
根据前文“Share stories from the past. Do you remember one time in high school that you and your best friend wore false hair and matching clothes around your neighborhood? Or, how about when your best friend sat on a painted bench by accident?(分享过去的故事。你还记得高中的时候,你和你最好的朋友戴着假发,穿着情侣装在附近闲逛吗?或者,当你最好的朋友不小心坐在一张彩绘的长椅上?)”可知,E项“These reminders can make us feel silly and childlike.(这些提醒会让我们觉得自己又傻又幼稚)”可知是对前文的总结。故选E项。
9.根据前文“When you try something new — whether it’s to draw or learn to roller skate — your original attempts will likely be clumsy and even ridiculous.(当你尝试新事物时——无论是画画还是学溜冰——你最初的尝试很可能是笨拙的,甚至是荒谬的)”以及后文“So taking up something new is likely to result in laughs.(所以学习新事物很可能会带来笑声)”可知,空处应该是一个过渡句,所以A项“That is funny.(这很有趣)”中that代指前文提到的最初的尝试的事,符合文意。故选A项。
10.分析设空,空处位于段首,应该是本段的中心句,是对本段的高度总结,根据后文“We are heavily influenced by the people we are with, so by hanging out with funny people, we can add more laughter into our days. That positive and silly energy will immediately rub off on us and it can cause us to want to feel happier and sillier throughout our days.(和我们在一起的人对我们的影响很大,所以和有趣的人一起出去玩,我们可以给我们的生活增添更多的笑声。这种积极和愚蠢的能量会立即影响到我们,让我们每天都想要更快乐、更傻)”可知本段主要讲我们身边的人,所以D项“Surround yourself with funny people.(和有趣的人在一起)”符合文意。故选D项。

一、七选五
1.上文“One of the latest crazy phenomena (现象) is intermittent fasting (间歇性禁食).(最近出现的一种疯狂现象是间歇性禁食。)” E项中的“this”指代上文中的“intermittent fasting”,因此E项“The idea of this is to reduce calories over a period.(这样做的目的是在一段时间内减少卡路里的摄入。)”
2.上文“There are different ways of intermittent fasting.(间歇性禁食有不同的方式。)”提到间歇性禁食有不同的方式,下文“Another common way is choosing a diet that sees people only eating during a limited part of the day, for example, over eight hours.(另一种常见的方法是选择一种饮食,让人们只在一天的有限时间内进食,例如超过8小时。)” 因此G项“You can eat normally on five days of a week and reduce calorie intake on the other two.(你可以一周中有五天正常饮食,另外两天减少热量摄入。)”
3.下文“A study suggests intermittent fasting may help control blood sugar and reduce the possibility of suffering related disease. Other studies have shown intermittent fasting may help slow the ageing process, support brain function, lose weight, etc.(一项研究表明,间歇性禁食可能有助于控制血糖,减少患相关疾病的可能性。其他研究表明,间歇性禁食可能有助于减缓衰老过程,支持大脑功能,减肥等。)”提到了间歇性禁食可能带来的好处,如控制血糖、减缓衰老过程、支持大脑功能、减轻体重等,空处作为段落主题句,应该是引出这些好处。因此D项“Let’s look at some of the possible benefits.(让我们来看一些可能的好处。)”
4.上文“Some people try intermittent fasting for weight management, and others use the method to deal with some conditions such as high cholesterol or arthritis.(有些人尝试间歇性禁食来控制体重,还有一些人用这种方法来治疗一些疾病,比如高胆固醇或关节炎。)”提到一些人使用间歇性禁食达到的作用,下文“Fasting might not suit those who are underweight or with a long-term medical condition.(间歇性禁食可能不适合那些体重过轻或有长期疾病的人。)” 因此B项“However, this diet isn’t for everyone.(然而,这种饮食并不适合所有人。)”
5.上文“As with many diets, it’s always wise to speak to your doctor or weight-loss professional before changing your eating habits. And, at the end of the day, it could just come down to what lifestyle choice suits you. (与许多饮食一样,在改变你的饮食习惯之前,和你的医生或减肥专家谈谈总是明智的。在一天结束的时候,这可能只是取决于哪种生活方式适合你。)”提到在改变饮食习惯之前,最好先咨询医生或减肥专家,并且最后要选择适合自己的生活方式,空处应该是一个总结性的句子,强调不要盲目尝试间歇性禁食。因此F项“In a word, you should avoid turning to intermittent fasting blindly.(总而言之,你应该避免盲目地求助于间歇性禁食。)”

6.根据前文“People these days are posting about their lives on social media. But what if you’re a private and introverted person like me? What if you want to live in the moment instead of sharing every bit of your life? To be honest, it’s nobody’s business but your own.(现在人们都在社交媒体上晒自己的生活。
7.根据前文“At some point I asked myself-is being visible more important than my peace of mind?(有时我问自己——被人看见比内心的平静更重要吗?)”以及后文“The answer is a clear NO.(答案显然是否定的)”可知,后文是在回答问题,所以空处应是接着提问,所以D项“Are my followers more important than my friends and family?(我的粉丝比我的朋友和家人更重要吗?)”符合文意,引出后文“I just want to spend life doing what I love with the people I love.(我只想和我爱的人一起做我爱的事)”。故选D项。
8.分析设空,位于段首,应总领下文,根据后文“I need alone time to process what I’m struggling with and honest real talks with the people I trust.(我需要独处的时间来处理我正在挣扎的事情,和我信任的人真诚地交谈)”可知,作者需要私人时间,所以G项“It can be quite challenging to go through tough moments with everyone watching.(在所有人的注视下度过艰难时刻是相当具有挑战性的)”符合文意,引出下文。故选G项。
9.分析设空,为本段小标题,根据后文“Another reason I keep my life private is that I prefer to be in the present moment and appreciate it fully. To be on your phone constantly, or to film everything you do, can be quite disrespectful to the people you spend your time with. You lose out on those spontaneous(自发的) moments and a deeper connection. I choose what I share and when I share it, and the rest is for experiencing life without expectations(另一个让我保持私人生活的原因是,我更喜欢活在当下,充分欣赏它。经常玩手机,或者把你所做的一切都拍下来,这是对你花时间相处的人的不尊重。你失去了那些自发的时刻和更深层次的联系。我选择分享什么和什么时候分享,剩下的就用来体验没有期望的生活)”可知,本段主要讲述,要活在当下,所以B项“Living in the moment(活在当下)”为本段小标题。故选B项。
10.根据前文“Live your life fully, regardless of whether the world knows it or not!(充实地过你的生活,不管世人知不知道!)”以及后文“I just want you to know it’s OK if you don’t.(我只是想让你知道,如果你不这样做也没关系)”可知,作者在总结,他并不反对分享生活,只是说不这样做也没关系,所以E项“If you feel like sharing your life openly without hesitation, go for it.(如果你想毫不犹豫地公开分享你的生活,那就去做吧)”承接上下文,符合文意。
【答案】11.E 12.D 13.A 14.G 15.C
11.由下文“Without that, you are just a dreamer. (没有它,你只是一个梦想家)”和指代关系可知,设空句中应出现指示代词that指代对象,E选项“为转行做好准备的最好方法是制定一个计划。”中“make a plan”即下文that指代内容,没有计划,你只是一个空想家,另外,选项中“be prepared for a career change”也与上文“For average working people, they normally change their careers five to seven times throughout their whole lives. (对于普通的职场人来说,他们一生中通常会换五到七次职业)”中“change their careers five to seven times”相照应。故选E项。
12.由上文“It happens that you neglect thinking about your career when you are busy, but you must spend time considering your current situation and your ideal career path to develop a specific career plan. (碰巧你在忙的时候忽略了对职业的思考,但你必须花时间考虑你的现状和理想的职业道路,以制定具体的职业计划_)”提出要进行针对制定职业计划的反思,下文“When you have a better understanding of yourself and what you want, you are more likely to make a plan that suits your goals and lifestyle. (当你对自己和自己想要的东西有了更好的了解,你就更有可能制定一个适合你的目标和生活方式的计划)”讲更好地了解自己和自己想要的东西的益处,D选项“反思自己和自己的需求也是必要的。”提出要反思自己和自己的需求的必要性,下文是反思的结果,选项中“Reflecting on yourself and your needs”和下文“a better understanding of yourself and what you want”相照应。故选D项。
13.上一段提出先要进行“self-reflection (自我反思)”,进而明确你想要的职业类型,设空句下文“You probably need SMART goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound to prepare for success. (为成功做准备,你可能需要制定明智的目标,这些目标要是具体的、可衡量的、可实现的、相关的和有时间限制的)”提出制定职业目标的具体的做法,A项“下一步是弄清楚如何实现这一点”承上启下,符合上下文连贯。故选A项。
14.由上文“Studies prove that SMART goals work better when they are written down and shared with others. Sharing enhances your sense of responsibility while writing down allows you to commit them to memory. (研究证明,当SMART目标被写下来并与他人分享时,效果会更好。分享可以增强你的责任感,而写下来可以让你把它们记在记忆中)”可知,上文讲SMART目标被“写下来”并与他人“分享”时,效果会更好,会留在你的记忆中,G选项“因此,因为它们保存在你的潜意识中,你总是可以接触到它们。”与上文形成因果关系,表明为什么SMART目标留在记忆中的原因及其导致的结果。故选G项。
15.由上文“Now that you have understood what you want and had your goals set and written down, it’s time to make career decisions. First, list pros and cons of different decisions. And then think about how each path lines up with your values. (既然你已经了解了自己想要什么,并制定并写下了目标,现在是时候做出职业决定了。首先,列出不同决策的利弊。然后想想每一条路是如何与你的价值观相一致的)”可知,上文已经提出了如何做出职业决定的两点策略,C选项“最后,评估它们如何影响你的未来。”中的“Finally”提起最后一点策略。故选C项。

16.根据上文“That’s why it’s more important to understand internet safety rules which protect you and your family from threats that may harm your data and devices. (这就是为什么理解互联网安全规则更重要,以保护你和你的家人免受损害你的数据和设备的威胁)”以及后文主要介绍了在网上保持安全的办法。故C项“继续读去找到如何在网上保持安全的方法”符合语境。故选C。
17.根据小标题“Make sure you’re using a safe internet connection(确保你使用的是安全的网络连接)”以及上文“Although using public Wi-Fi is not recommended, it’s sometimes unavoidable when you are out.(虽然不建议使用公共Wi-Fi,但当你外出时,这有时是不可避免的)”可知,这一段介绍要使用安全的网络连接,尽量避免使用公共Wi-Fi,实在避免不了就避免进行个人业务,对应了G项“避免进行使用私人数据的个人业务”。故选G。
18.根据上文“People often choose passwords that are easy to remember.(人们总是选择容易记的密码)”可知,本句主要说明这么做的结果,此处therefore引出下文,根据本段最后一句“If hackers get your identification from one site, they can probably access other websites which use the same login details.(如果黑客从一个网站获得了你的身份,他们可能会访问其他使用相同登录信息的网站)”可知本句内容与黑客有关。
19.根据本段内容“Developers are often working to make products safe, monitoring the latest threats and rolling out security patches (安全补丁) in case of weaknesses in their software. By using the updated operating systems and apps, you will benefit from the latest security patches. This is especially important for apps that include payment, health or other personal information about a user.(开发人员经常致力于使产品安全,监控最新的威胁,并在软件存在弱点时推出安全补丁。通过使用更新后的操作系统和应用程序,您将受益于最新的安全补丁。这对于包含用户支付、健康或其他个人信息的应用尤其重要)”可知,本段的建议是,不断更新软件和操作系统。所以,B项“保持软件和操作系统的更新”填入空格处,符合语境。故选B。
20.根据下文“That’s why it’s important to browse carefully and avoid certain types of online content—such as links from untrusted sources.(这就是为什么仔细浏览并避免某些类型的在线内容(例如来自不受信任来源的连接)是很重要的)”可知,本句主要说明在网上浏览会暴露个人数据的行为。

23.根据下文“While there are several ways to reduce anxiety, it turns out that being nice to others can be one of the easiest, most inexpensive ways to keep anxiety at bay.(虽然有几种方法可以减少焦虑,但事实证明,善待他人是最简单、最便宜的控制焦虑的方法之一)”可知,本段和焦虑有关,A项“焦虑是一种极其普遍的人类体验”符合语境,故选A。
24.根据上文“Kindness releases the hormone oxytocin which reduces blood pressure and therefore protects the heart.(善良会释放催产素,从而降低血压,保护心脏)”以及下文“Maybe that’s why they say nice, caring people have really big hearts.(也许这就是为什么人们说善良、有爱心的人都心胸宽广)”可知,空处和上文并列,说明善良的好处,C项“善良在身体和情感上都能增强你的心灵”符合语境,故选C。
