Teaching aims:

By the end of this period, students will be able to：

1.find out and record some information about time management tips by watching a video.

2.conclude tips that we need to improve self-control by doing and analyzing a questionnaire.

3.collect some information about social media detox by reading the passage.

4.conclude personal reaction and results by reading and analyzing

5.express your ideas about social media detox.

1.Help students understand the suggestions of time management .

3.Help the students learn the strategies of summarizing the main idea for each paragraph.

1.How to express their ideas on the time management.

2. How to guide students to understand and complete the questionnaire and reflect on the status of self-control.

Lead-in

1.Have students look at a video of time management and answer the teacher's question: What is the video about?

2.Next, the teacher will let students watch the video again and list the time management tips mentioned in the video.

Through the video , stimulate students' interest in learning this lesson , activate students' existing background knowledge.

Pre-reaing

1.The teacher displays pictures and asks students to predict the content of this article based on the pictures and questions. And provide students with a self-control questionnaire.

2.After the students make their choices, the teacher inquired about the student's answer and let the student share how to achieve proper time management.

3.Next, the teacher will give the students a topic for discussion, and after the discussion, the teacher will encourage students to express their opinions conduct rational self-evaluation.

Predict the learning content of the article through the picture and the video, and enable students to understand the how to achieve proper time management.

While-reading

Activity 1:read and answer.

1.First the teacher guides students to read the three paragraphs in Activity 1, summarize the information reflected in the text, and encourage the students to express it in complete sentences.

2. Then ask the students to work in groups and discuss the  question. And the teacher invites students to share their answers, and then guides other students to supplement and evaluate.

2.Then guide the students read the text quickly and check their predictions.

Activity 2:predict.

The teacher guide students to look at the pictures and the title of the text, encouraging them to predict the content of the text.

1.Read para 1 and answer the questions.

1)What happened on 7 May 1824 in Vienna?

2)What was wrong with Beethoven at that time?

3)How did the audience react to Beethoven's performance?

Activity 3:reading in detail.

1.Read and Think: guide the students read the text again and think two questions:

1).What’s the structure of the passage?

2).Choose the benefits of the social media detox and find evidence to support your choices.

By carefully reading the content of each paragraph, helping students understand the general idea of the article, inspiring them to think deeply , and actively exploring the significance of the topic.
