Hua Tuo was a famous doctor in Eastern Han Dynasty. He was born in today’s Anhui Province. His father died when Hua was only seven. Then, he lived a poor life with his mother. In order to enable her son to have a better career, the mother sent young Hua to study medicine from a local doctor. The doctor was impressed by the boy’s hard work and talent, so he decided to teach him all the skills he knew. Soon, Hua became an expert in medicine.

Because it’s fun to practise and good for health, the Five-Animal Exercises are still practised today by a great number of people, not only in China, but also in many other places of the world as well.

Real Dogs VS Robot Dogs
Students in our class have different opinions on keeping real dogs or robot dogs Here are some of their ideas.
I like keeping real pet dogs because loneliness is terrible, and I need a pet around. Whenever I look after my dog Rocky, I feel better. And my grandma benefits from taking care of it. Rocky is furry and soft, which gives us a natural sense of closeness. When I enter the front door after school every day, it is usually the first to greet me with its tail wagging. Sometimes, it will run in circles around me to get my attention, and it will roll over so that I can pet its tummy.
Tim
@Tim I don’t agree to keep a real dog. Keeping robot dogs is wonderful! They don’t lose hair or eat things the way real dogs do. They won’t bite or scratch you. They won’t sharpen their claws on your new sofa, or chew the leg off of the dining room table. What’s more, your robot dogs won’t have to go to the vet or die, leaving you in a state of emotional heartbreak. I enjoy living with my robot dog.
Jack
So do I. Nowadays, the burden of keeping a real dog is quite heavy. You have to bathe it, buy clothes, and see a vet when it is sick, maybe at least two or three thousand yuan a year. In addition to paying money, there is also a burden of time and energy. Some robot dogs can do many things: they can herd sheep, walk around the fields, open doors, do some dangerous and dirty jobs instead of people and so on. @Jack
Lucy
I think both of them are fantastic. It’s true that you never have to worry about giving your robot dogs water or food. They can wag their tails, play balls, move their ears back and forth and blink eyes. Robot dogs can also understand different words, such as “sit”, “stay”, and “come”. If you want a pet dog, but worry about taking care of it, then a robot dog will be a good choice. Now robot dogs can “learn” and remember their daily experiences. However, real dogs can play with people and make them happy. They can also interact with their owners, but robot dogs just can’t do this yet.
Sam
29. Why does Tim like to keep real dogs?
A. To help people do many things. B. To take care of the elderly people.
C. To help him keep away from loneliness. D. To have better communication with dogs.
30. What do robot dogs and real dogs have in common according to the conversations?
A. They can bite and bark at strangers. B. Both of them can wag tails and blink eyes.
C. Owners can save time, money and energy. D. You need to take them to vets when they are sick.
31. Where may you see their conversations?
A. In a magazine. B. In a comic strip. C. On the Internet. D. In a science fiction.
32. Which of the following descriptions is right?
A. Tim and Lucy share the same opinion.
B. Keeping real dogs is acceptable for Sam.
C. Jack thinks it is expensive to keep a real dog.
D. Robot dogs can understand all their owners’ words.
C
How do we use strong body language to make us seem powerful while making a speech? Vanessa, who is a researcher of human behavior once said that Tony the Tiger has some of the best body language we can learn from. The picture is Tony the Tiger’s typical pose on every cereal box across America.
Researchers have found that the broader we stand, the more powerful we feel. So by examining Tony’s pose, we see that he is standing very broadly with his feet. If you look closer, you’ll see he is pointing upwards, as if he were saying, “I am going up” or “________”.
If you look at Tony again, you can see his smile lines reach almost all the way up to his eyes. His smile is not only open, but it is hugely expressive. This smile design makes Tony look incredibly happy, excited and optimistic.
Tony the Tiger always faces forward. When we are talking with people face to face, we are showing a sign of respect. So if you look at the cereal box, you may feel like Tony is paying attention to you and this is exactly what kids like to see.
An interesting study found that 57 out of the 86 cereal boxes had characters looking down. Imagine a child is walking around in the supermarket, hand-in-hand with his or her mom. The small child is looking up at all the boxes and they see the cereal characters looking down at them. When the child looks up and makes eye contact with the box, this attracts the child’s attention to that character. Making eye contact is great because it can increase feelings of love and interest!
Great body language during the speech draws the audience’s attention to your points, and helps you connect with your listeners and build up a good relationship. Next time you are going to speak in public, just think about Tony, the Tiger!
33. Which is the most suitable sentence to fill in the blank “________”?
A. This is me. B. I’m No.1. C. Who are you? D. Why not?

A. Making eye contact with people is helpful.
B. Characters can attract children by looking up.
C. The number is useful to the study on characters.

35. What’s the main purpose of the passage?
A. To introduce Tony the Tiger. B. To tell people how to make a speech.
C. To talk about Vanessa’s interesting study. D. To help people have better body language.
36. What is the structure of the passage?
A. B.

Real Dogs VS Robot Dogs
Students in our class have different opinions on keeping real dogs or robot dogs. Here are some of their ideas.
