表示因果关系的连词有as a result结果,thus/therefore因此,so (such)...
表示转折关系的连接词有:However然而, nevertheless仍然,然而,不过, nonetheless尽管如此,依然,然而, still还;然而, though可是,不过,然而, yet然而, in spite of不顾,不管, at any rate无论如何,至少, in any case无论如何,不管怎样, whoever无论是谁, whatever无论什么,on the contrary正相反, in contrast与此相反, 相比之下, by contrast相反, 相比之下, in comparison比较起来,比较地, by comparison相比之下, conversely相反(地), otherwise否则;除此以外,not---but不是-----而是,as well也等。
表示递进关系的连词有:also也, 而且, further另外(的);, furthermore而且,此外, likewise同样地,照样地;也,又, similarly相似地,类似地, moreover而且再者,此外, in addition另外,加之, what’s more更重要的是, too也,还, either也, neither两者都不, not only…but also不但…
表示列举关系的有:first首先, 第一, second第二, third第三…; firstly第一, 首先, secondly第二(点);其次, thirdly第三…; first第一, next其次, then那么, 然后…; in the first place第一,首先, in the second place第二, 其次…; for one thing首先,一则, for another thing其次…; to begin with首先,第一, to conclude首先,第一
注意在选项中查找表示结果、结论、总结等的信号词,如therefore, as a result, thus, hence, in short, to sum up, to conclude, in a word等词语,选项中也可发现前文的同义词句。
1.
Everyone thinks they're great listeners. But the truth is that hearing isn’t necessarily listening, nor is it necessarily listening well. Listening is an art as well as a basic life skill that we are encouraged to practise and master. 1
●Don't interrupt
2 To master the art of listening, you need to stop any good thoughts that come to mind and let the person say everything they need to say. Often times people simply need someone to talk to, not someone who will cut in and give their own thoughts and opinions.
●Practice active listening.
To understand better in communication, you can first practice active listening. The art of listening isn't simply about staying quiet 100% of the time, it's also about asking questions, which are for clarification or for further explanation, so that you can fully understand what the speaker is telling you. 3 You can also make noises that show you agree with what he person is saying such as “yes”, ‘'yeah", and “okay.”
● 4
About 60-75% of our communication is accomplished without speaking. In order to know whether to encourage the speaker, or to open yourself more, it's essential to know what the person's body is saying. Do they display signs of discomfort? Are they cautious about you? Their body language tells a lot.
●Create a suitable environment.
It can be difficult to listen to another person when the TV is screaming, your phone is buzzing and there are thousands of cars passing by. 5 Also, when you indicate it would be good to “find a quiet place," you put importance in the person and what they say, and then you show care and consideration.

B.Let the person speak without interruption.
C.Listen without forming responses in your mind.

For many high school students it seems that there is never enough time. There are several steps you can take to organize your time better.
First, make a to-do list every day. It makes it easy to plan any of the activities or meetings you may have in addition to homework. Be sure to set priorities
Use spare time wisely. Do you have study hall Instead of wasting that time, read a book or do your homework. 7 If a friend asks you to do something and you have homework to do, realize which is more important and see your friend later.
Decide on the time that is good for you to do certain things. If you are more of a morning person, try getting up an hour earlier and do your schoolwork before school. Review your notes every day. 8 If you spend a few minutes at the end of every day going over what you learnt, it will mean less study time when it is time for the exam.
9 Studies have shown that getting enough rest helps your memory. When you are tired, everything seems more difficult. It is best to stay on a regular sleeping cycle as much as possible.
Tell your friends and family about your work timetable. Explain that you will be working at certain times and ask them not to disturb you. 10 You can call your friends later.
A.Set goals for yourself.
B.Get a good night’s sleep.

Breathing is a basic human function. 11 . You may be surprised to learn that there are better ways to breathe than others.
It’s easy to get in the habit of taking short, shallow breaths. I’s important to train yourself to breathe deeply since deep breaths are better at oxygenating your body and can actually help reduce stress. Take a moment to pay attention to your breathing. 12 , you’re likely to take shallow breaths. Try practicing deep breathing for several minutes every day. Over time, it will become easier and feel more natural.
Schedule regular check-ins to stay focused on your breathing. Since you don’t usually realize that you’re breathing, it can be tricky to notice whether or not you’re doing it properly. Try to check-in at the same time every day, like each morning and lunchtime, so that it becomes part of your routine.
13 . For example, if you notice that you’re taking shallow breaths whenever you check on your breathing, you’ll know to work on taking deeper breaths from your diaphragm (隔膜).
14 . To make deep breathing easier, try practicing a couple of breathing exercises so you can use them the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed. For example, you can quickly relax when you’re feeling stressed by taking deep breaths through your nose and then sighing out loud on your exhales (呼出). If you ever feel like you’re on the edge of having a panic attack, take a deep breath in for 3 seconds, hold it for 3 seconds, and then slowly exhale through pursed lips. 15 .

A lot of people think that they are not good at learning a new language. 16
Good language learners look for opportunities to hear and use the new language outside of the classroom on a daily basis and consequently learn the language more quickly. 17 For instance, they can talk to salesmen, join sports clubs, or even talk to people in coffee stores. They might read newspapers and magazines in that language, watch movies, listen to podcasts, or join chat rooms. All of these are great opportunities to practice and can also be fun.
In addition, good language learners try different ways to make their message understood. For example, if they do not know the word for “laundromat,” they might say “the place where you can wash clothes.” 18 The point is that good language learners are creative and do not easily give up.
Finally, good language learners are prepared to take risks. 19 As a result, instead of being embarrassed by a mistake or getting frustrated when they do not understand, they see it as gaining a learning opportunity. For example, if they do not understand what someone said the first time, they are not afraid to ask them to repeat it again and again until they do understand. Or, if someone corrects their vocabulary or grammar, they try to remember instead of becoming shy about speaking.
20 It cannot be done in just a few months. Hopefully, these methods will help you be a good and confident language learner in the long run.

We all have childhood best friends and we often assume that these persons would still be our friends when we are all grown-ups and even until the day we die. 21 . However, most people just grow apart and sadly, some childhood best friends just become people who used to know each other.
22 . There are many reasons why a best friend from childhood can be forgotten. One of the most common reasons would be distance. Moving away and growing apart from each other can have the biggest effect on friendships.
Another reason why we may forget our best friend is that we meet new best friends. The friends we made when we were young may not share the same interests that we have when we reach the teenage years. 23 . We find new people who share our new interests and leave behind people who no longer have things in common with us.
24 . We make new best friends in high school and some in college. These friendships are often the ones that last the longest.
If we are lucky enough to have the gift of friendship, we must make sure that we do not lose it. 25 . If we want to keep our friends in our lives, we must do more than look back upon the past and make an active effort to maintain our relationship with our friends. Finding your favourite. 27 Nobody likes cardio (有氧运动) for a long time, but signing up for an adult sports team, or taking a yoga class on the weekend can be a fun way to break up the boredom of going to the gym. Recreational (娱乐的) sports are also a great way to meet new people.
Walking on snow. 28 Walking with snowshoes is friendly to beginners, and suitable for kids and seniors alike. You can buy a set for under $100 or rent some for the afternoon. Take a friend or walk alone to enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors in winter.
Skiing. Those that love it really love it. Hitting the ski hills is an old wintertime tradition. It gets you outside, boosts your mood, and serves as a core workout. You don’t need the latest gear (设备) to be able to have fun. 29 If you’re feeling tired of too much indoor time, get your heart pumping at a nearby ski hill.

It can be hard to be enthusiastic about your job after you’ve been at it for a while. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need a new job. There are so many different things you can try to help make your present job feel a little more exciting.
Change your routine. 31 The first thing in the morning for you to do is to check your emails. Do you think you really need to do so? Is there a reason why teams always meet at a certain time? Start by questioning the way you’ve gotten used to doing things. 32
Don’t be serious with yourself. It’s important to take your work seriously, but that doesn’t mean you have to take yourself too seriously. Happiness matters. 33 So, allow yourself to have some laughs and some fun with friends at work from time to time.
Take a vacation. Just because you feel bored at work, that doesn’t mean you aren’t also super busy and maybe even stressed. Routine tasks can be both dull and stressful. Stress and tension can affect feelings. 34 Maybe you’d feel less bored at work after having a bit of time to relax yourself.
35 A really effective way to add a little freshness to your life is to devote yourself to learning something new every day. It doesn’t have to be something big, or something hard. You could just watch a Ted Talk video about a topic that interests you, for example. It doesn’t even have to relate directly to your job. Be yourself.
37 If some people don’t accept you, they’re not the kind of friends you need. People often stay together because they have similar interests. For example, someone who does a lot of sport may make friends with those who also run or swim a lot.

Believe in yourself.
A smile goes a long way. When you walk in the halls, don’t keep your eyes on the floor. Raise your head and make eye contact (目光接触) with other people. 39 Introduce yourself. Tell them your name and where you’re from.

There’s a reason why so many people love running early in the morning. 41 Not only do you begin your day more relaxed and refreshed, but you’ve already started things of with an accomplishment. If you think you’re ready to take advantage of the benefits of a morning run, here are five suggestions from the professionals.
●Find a friend, and be gentle with yourself
Finding a partner to run with will give you someone to be responsible for, and make it much harder to blow off the run. It’s also important to remember that this is a process, and you can’t expect to do it perfectly from the beginning. 42 “Once you get into the habit, it becomes natural and actually jump starts your day,” says Sheri Piers, top American finisher at the 2012 Boston Marathon.
●Embrace the movement
“The first few steps or blocks will be tough in the morning. They always are,” says Dr. Jordan Metzl, who has over 32 marathon finishes under his belt. With a practice of more than 20, 000 patients, Metzl’s days are jam-packed, so early morning runs are a must. 43 “Sometimes you have to just do it, and remember that the motivation will come later.” he says.
●Stay warm
44 “If I go to bed in my sports wear, all I need to do is throw on the outer layers and head out the door. At least that takes away some of the inconvenience,” says Tina Muir, a half-marathoner. She also leaves her alarm on the other side of the room to help push herself up.
● 45
“I view waking up early like tearing off a Band-Aid,” says Michele Gonzalez, a running coach. “It’s gonna hurt for a bit.” Her advice is relatively simple. “You just have to set the alarm early and start doing it,” she says. “After a few days, you’ll be tired earlier at night and will start going to bed earlier. This makes the early alarm feel a bit more manageable.”

Last week when I was reading at home, my younger sister rushed in and told me an old man was lying on the ground in front of our building. I immediately took my first-aid (急救) kit and ran downstairs. He was suffering a slight heart attack. And I performed CPR on him. Luckily, an ambulance came soon and he was taken to hospital. Later that day I was told by the hospital what I did helped rescue the old man’s life. I was happy to hear that. 66 There were many people who wanted to help around the old man then. Yet no one performed first aid on him as they hadn’t attended a first-aid course. 67 Here are my reasons.
You can gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to act in an emergency. You never know when you might need them — maybe at home, at work, at school or on holiday. If you have the skills, you can act whenever you’re needed.
68 For your family or your neighbors, having more people with first-aid skills helps build a stronger and more harmonious (和谐的) community.
You can stay safe at work. 69 With first-aid knowledge you can create a safe work environment and help meet your workplace’s safety requirements.
It’s useful for your future career (事业). The first-hand experience you gain through learning first aid and using your skills could help you decide if you want to pursue (追求) a career in the healthy profession. 70

No one will be surprised to hear that the arts are under fire in this day and age. We view the arts as something of a hobby, something that’s fun but certainly can’t pay the rent. Do we really need art in our lives?
It seems as though the loss of art in daily life is a sad fact of life, but it doesn’t have to be. 71 For example, art therapy has helped people with a range of illnesses, both mental and physical, cope with their symptoms. Art is found almost anywhere you look in your home. Practical items, such as bedspreads, furniture or clothing, are all art forms in themselves and arouse emotions in the people interacting with them.
72 History tells us what happened and when it happened, but it can’t tell us how the population at large felt about it, which is where art steps in. We know a lot about how people in the past lived and worked, because their art has given us such a deep insight into their daily lives.
Most of all, we need art in our lives as it gives us a form of self-expression. 73 You may not think you talk about your feelings, but you may express them in other ways. Some like to cook or bake, some like to work on machinery, and others may like to paint or draw. 74 .
So, do we need art in our lives? Many people would say no, but the art they’re thinking of is the art you see in galleries. 75 It helps those in need, gives people in the future an idea of what life was like, and is a vital form of self-expression.
A.Art also gives us insight into the world.

A.Listen to non-verbal communication.
B.Let the person speak without interruption.
C.Listen without forming responses in your mind.
D.Here's how to bring the vital life skill into your daily existence.
E.Additionally, it's important to hold back your negative judgments.
F.Another great way to show your understanding is to respond by nodding.
G.When you remove the distractions and find a quiet place it’s easier to listen attentively.
【答案】1.D 2.B 3.F 4.A 5.G
1.根据上文“Listening is an art as well as a basic life skill that we are encouraged to practise and master.(听力是一种艺术,也是一种基本的生活技能,我们被鼓励去练习和掌握)”以及下文作者分类介绍了在日常生活中可以应用的各类倾听的方式方法。可知D项:Here's how to bring the vital life skill into your daily existence.(下面是如何将这一重要的生活技能运用到你的日常生活中)合乎题意。故选D。
Let the person speak without interruption.(让对方说话时不要打断)概括和解释标题,合乎题意。故选B。
3.根据下文“you can also make noises that show you agree with what he person is saying such as “yes”, ‘'yeah", and “okay.”(你也可以发出一些声音来表示你同意对方说的话,比如yes和okay)”中的“also”,我们可知设空处描述的情形也应为对某人的发言表示同意或肯定时做出的姿态,从而增进互动,表示理解。F项:Another great way to show your understanding is to respond by nodding.(另一种表示理解的好方法是点头回应)合乎题意。故选F。
根据下文“About 60-75% of our communication is accomplished without 大约60-75%的交流是在不说话的情况下完成的。为了知道是要鼓励说话者,还是更开放自己,有必要了解这个人的身体在说什么。根据下文“About 60-75% of our communication is accomplished without speaking. speaking. In order to know whether to encourage the speaker, or to open yourself more, it's essential to know what the person's body is saying.(大约60-75%的交流是在不说话的情况下完成的。为了知道是要鼓励说话者,还是更开放自己,有必要了解这个人的身体在说什么)”可知,作者阐述了倾听说话者肢体语言的重要性,也即话语本身以外的身体信号,从而判断倾听者应该采取怎样的方式更好地促进交流。A项:Listen to non-verbal communication.(倾听非语言交流)合乎题意。故选A。
5.根据上文“It can be difficult to listen to another person when the TV is screaming, your phone is buzzing and there are thousands of cars passing by.(当电视发出刺耳的声音,你的手机嗡嗡作响,成千上万辆汽车驶过时,你很难去听别人说话)”可知,前文叙述了在嘈杂、混乱的环境中良好的倾听一般难以达成,而后文中的“find a quite place(找一个安静角落)”则应是原文再现。 When you remove the distractions and find a quiet place it’s easier to listen attentively.(当你排除干扰,找到一个安静的地方,更容易专心倾听)合乎题意。

C.Do the most important tasks first.
D.Also, do not be afraid to say “no”.
E.You should finish your task on time.
F.Don’t take phone calls during the time you set aside for work.

Deep breathing exercises help you take the time out of your day to focus on just your breaths. This can help you relax in the moment and improve your form when breathing throughout the day.
A.When you take a deep breath
B.Repeat the exercise until you calm down
C.If only your chest is rising and falling when you breathe
D.But most of the time you don’t even realize you’re doing it
E.So you can use them the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed
F.Deep, purposeful breaths calm you down in stressful or scary situations
G.Being more mindful of your breathing can help you make adjustments if necessary
11.根据上文“Breathing is a basic human function.(呼吸是人体的基本功能)”以及后文“You may be surprised to learn that there are better ways to breathe than others.(你可能会惊讶地发现,有比其他呼吸方式更好的方法)”可知,上文提到了呼吸是人体基本功能,可知本句应当是说明人体对这一基本功能的反应:大多数时候你甚至没有意识到你在做这件事。
13.根据后文“For example, if you notice that you’re taking shallow breaths whenever you check on your breathing, you’ll know to work on taking deeper breaths from your diaphragm (隔膜).(例如,如果你注意到每次检查呼吸时你的呼吸都很浅,你就会知道要通过隔膜进行更深的呼吸)”可知,本段主要说明了有意识地注意自己是不是在浅呼吸,就可以通过隔膜进行深呼吸调整。
14.根据后文“To make deep breathing easier, try practicing a couple of breathing exercises so you can use them the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed.(为了让深呼吸变得更容易,试着练习一些呼吸练习,这样你就可以在下次感到不堪重负的时候使用它们)”可知,本段的主旨是深呼吸可以缓解紧张情绪。
15.根据上文“For example, you can quickly relax when you’re feeling stressed by taking deep breaths through your nose and then sighing out loud on your exhales (呼出). If you ever feel like you’re on the edge of having a panic attack, take a deep breath in for 3 seconds, hold it for 3 seconds, and then slowly exhale through pursed lips.(例如,当你感到压力时,你可以通过用鼻子深呼吸,然后在呼气时大声叹气来快速放松。如果你觉得自己处于恐慌发作的边缘,深呼吸3秒,保持3秒,然后慢慢地噘起嘴唇呼出)”可知,上文提到了处于恐慌发作边缘,本句为本段最后一句应说明该如何平静下来。故B选项“重复这个练习,直到你平静下来”符合语境,故选B。

A.Becoming fluent in a language takes time.
B.But we can learn a new language through looking up new words.
C.If that does not work, they might even try drawing it or acting it out.
D.Besides, good language learners use various ways to learn English words.
E.They understand that making mistakes is natural and is necessary to learn.
F.If they’re studying in a country where the language is spoken, this is easy to do.
G.However, we can learn from good language learners to become better at languages.
【答案】16.G 17.F 18.C 19.E 20.A
16.根据前文“A lot of people think that they are not good at learning a new language.(很多人认为他们不擅长学习一门新语言)”及后文“Good language learners look for opportunities to hear and use the new language outside of the classroom on a daily basis and consequently learn the language more quickly.(好的语言学习者每天都在课堂外寻找机会听和使用新语言,从而更快地学习语言)”可知,空处应该和上文是转折关系,同时引起下文,指出虽然很多人不认为自己不擅长学习一门语言,但是我们可以向优秀的语言者学习,G项“However, we can learn from good language learners to become better at languages.(然而,我们可以从优秀的语言学习者那里学习,以提高语言水平)”承上启下。故选G。
17.根据后文“For instance, they can talk to salesmen, join sports clubs, or even talk to people in coffee stores. They might read newspapers and magazines in that language, watch movies, listen to podcasts, or join chat rooms.(例如,他们可以与销售员交谈,加入体育俱乐部,甚至与咖啡店的人交谈。他们可能会阅读该种语言的报纸和杂志,看电影,听播客,或者加入聊天室)”可知,后文列举的都是在某种语言环境中学习该种语言的途径,承接了F项“If they’re studying in a country where the language is spoken, this is easy to do.(如果他们在一个说这种语言的国家学习,这很容易做到)”。故选F。
18.根据后文“The point is that good language learners are creative and do not easily give up.(关键是,好的语言学习者是有创造力的,不会轻易放弃)”可知,好的语言学习者会通过多种途径去表达自己,C项“If that does not work, they might even try drawing it or acting it out.(如果这不起作用,他们甚至可能尝试画出来或表演出来)”中的画出来或表演出来是创造力的一种体现。故选C。
19.后文“As a result, instead of being embarrassed by a mistake or getting frustrated when they do not understand, they see it as gaining a learning opportunity.(因此,他们不会因为一个错误而感到尴尬,也不会因为不理解而感到沮丧,而是将其视为获得了一个学习机会)”中的mistake与E项“They understand that making mistakes is natural and is necessary to learn.(他们明白犯错误是自然的,是学习的必要条件)”呼应,承接E项内容。故选E。
20.根据后文“It cannot be done in just a few months.(这不可能在几个月内完成)”可知,这里在说学习语言的时间问题,A项“Becoming fluent in a language takes time.(掌握一门语言需要时间)”引出下文。故选A。

21.由下文“However, most people just grow apart and sadly, some childhood best friends just become people who used to know each other. (然而,大多数人只是渐行渐远,不幸的是,一些儿时最好的朋友只是变成了曾经相互认识的人。)”可知,横线处所缺内容应该与后文是转折关系。故选D“Some people are lucky to keep their childhood best friends.(有些人运气好,可以一直拥有童年的好朋友。)”

It could be a call, a text, or even an e-mail. 可知,本句要维持保持友谊的具体做法,故E选项“Like all relationships, friendships need to be worked on too.

Don’t be serious with yourself. It’s important to take your work seriously, but that doesn’t mean you have to take yourself too seriously. Happiness matters. 33 So, allow yourself to have some laughs and some fun with friends at work from time to time.

Just learning one new thing each day should help bring a little excitement to your routine.

How to make friends at a new school
Starting with a new school can be difficult. Everything seems to be different, and you don’t even know where to go for your own classes. 36 However, if you use these skills, you can quickly turn some of those strangers into friends.
Be yourself.
37 If some people don’t accept you, they’re not the kind of friends you need. People often stay together because they have similar interests. For example, someone who does a lot of sport may make friends with those who also run or swim a lot.
38
Remember to be nice to the people you meet at your new school. If you think that you will say something that may make them feel sad, do not say anything and just nod your head if they talk to you. Also, remember to be as helpful as possible!
Believe in yourself.
A smile goes a long way. When you walk in the halls, don’t keep your eyes on the floor. Raise your head and make eye contact (目光接触) with other people. 39 Introduce yourself. Tell them your name and where you’re from.
Remember people’s names.
You like it when people use your name, and so do other people. 40 Besides, ask them in a kind way if they have a nickname (昵称). You’d be surprised how often this might come in handy.
A.People may become angry if you just begin by saying “Hey” each time.
B.Be friendly to others.
C.Join afterschool activities you like.
D.Making new friends can be hard, too.
E.Don’t sit at the back of the classroom where other people don’t notice you!

A.It has major benefits.
B.Have a training plan.
C.Make peace with the pain.
D.It’s just like warming up a car in the winter.
E.Even if you have a setback or two, keep at it.
F.Still, he knows how hard it can be to get motivated.

Set yourself up for success. Be honest about what motivates you, and what distracts you. Set up your environment and your schedule so that you can easily stick to your goals. Also, do your best to balance working hard and getting proper rest. Set deadlines for yourself, but be flexible. 54
Make a checklist to check off small tasks. Every bit of progress that you make is worthy of a celebration. 55 Place your checklist somewhere you’ll see it, like on your desk or refrigerator. 【答案】56.G 57.E 58.F 59.A 60.D
56.空前“Taking good notes is a time-saving skill that will help you to become a better student in several ways.(记好笔记是一项节省时间的技能,它将在几个方面帮助你成为一个更好的学生。)”说明记笔记有很多好处,由后面second, third可判断,空格处应该填的是第一方面,即first,G选项“First, the simple act of writing something down makes it easier for you to understand and remember it.(首先,把东西写下来这个简单的行为会让你更容易理解和记住它。)”
57.根据下文“Whenever or however you take notes, keep in mind that note-taking is a selective process.(无论何时以何种方式记笔记,记住记笔记是一个选择性的过程。)”以及前一句“You will want to take notes during classroom discussions and while reading a textbook or doing research for a report.(在课堂讨论、阅读教科书或为报告做研究时,你会想要做笔记。)”
根据前一句话“Whenever or however you take notes, keep in mind that note-taking is a selective process.(无论何时以何种方式记笔记,记住记笔记是一个选择性的过程。)”说明记笔记是选择性的过程,也就是你得知道哪些重要,该记下来,哪些不用记下来,F选项“That means you must first decide what is important enough to include in your notes.(这意味着你必须首先决定什么是重要的,要写进你的笔记。)”
空前“Write your notes in your own words.(用你自己的话写笔记。)”是一种方法,空后“Note any questions or ideas you may have about what was said or written.(记下你对所说或所写内容的任何问题或想法。)”
60.根据上文“As you take notes, you may want to use your own shorthand (速记). When you do, be sure that you understand your symbols and that you use them all the time.(当你记笔记时,你可能想要使用你自己的速记法。当你这样做的时候,确保你理解了你的符号,并且你一直在使用它们。)”可知,在你记笔记的时候,你可能会用速记的方式。一定要注意,要确保你以后还能看懂你用的速记符号,并且一直这样用,否则的话,以后你可能就看不懂你记的笔记了,D选项“Otherwise, you may not be able to read your notes later.(否则,你以后可能无法阅读你的笔记。)”说明了你以后可能无法阅读你的笔记,承接上文的“be sure that you understand your symbols and that you use them all the time”,因此承接上文,符合语境。故选D。

A.But at the same time I felt a bit sad.
B.You can easily get a job in this profession.
C.You can be a helper in your community.
D.Illness and injury can happen anytime in the workplace.
E.You can take first-aid courses (课程) in your community for free.
F.It’s necessary for everyone to learn some basic first-aid techniques.
G.It also shows your commitment to the career in the health profession.
【答案】66.A 67.F 68.C 69.D 70.G
66.前文“Later that day I was told by the hospital what I did helped rescue the old man’s life. I was happy to hear that. (那天晚些时候,医院告诉我,我所做的帮助挽救了老人的生命。听到这个我很高兴)”叙述自己因成功挽救老人的生命而高兴,后文“There were many people who wanted to help around the old man then. Yet no one performed first aid on him as they hadn’t attended a first-aid course. (当时有很多人愿意帮助老人。然而,没有人对他进行急救,因为他们没有参加急救课程)”指出有很多人想帮助老人却没法提供帮助,因此A项“But at the same time I felt a bit sad. (但与此同时,我感到有点难过)”符合语境,指出自己难过的心情,和前文形成转折,引出后文,其中的sad和前文的happy形成对比。故选A。
67.前文“There were many people who wanted to help around the old man then. Yet no one performed first aid on him as they hadn’t attended a first-aid course. (当时有很多人愿意帮助老人。然而,没有人对他进行急救,因为他们没有参加急救课程)”指出有很多人想帮助老人却因不懂急救而无法提供帮助,后文“Here are my reasons. (以下是我的理由)”指出要说明理由,因此F项“It’s necessary for everyone to learn some basic first-aid techniques. (每个人都有必要学习一些基本的急救技术)”符合语境,指出学习基本的急救技术的必要性,承接前文,引出后文的理由,其中的first-aid在前文有同词复现。故选F。
68.空处位于段首,是段落主旨句,需统领段落内容。后文“For your family or your neighbors, having more people with first-aid skills helps build a stronger and more harmonious (和谐的) community. (对于你的家庭或邻居来说,有更多掌握急救技能的人有助于建立一个更强大、更和谐的社区)”介绍学习基本的急救技术对帮助社区的作用,因此C项“You can be a helper in your community. (你可以成为社区的帮手)”符合语境,契合段落内容,其中的helper和后文的helps呼应。故选C。
69.后文“With first-aid knowledge you can create a safe work environment and help meet your workplace’s safety requirements. (有了急救知识,你可以创造一个安全的工作环境,帮助满足工作场所的安全要求)”介绍掌握急救知识在工作中的作用,因此D项“Illness and injury can happen anytime in the workplace. (疾病和伤害随时可能在工作场所发生)”符合语境,指出工作场所中也会有疾病和伤害,引出后文的作用,其中的workplace在后文有同词复现。故选D。
70.前文“It’s useful for your future career (事业). The first-hand experience you gain through learning first aid and using your skills could help you decide if you want to pursue (追求) a career in the healthy profession. (这对你未来的职业生涯很有用。你通过学习急救和运用你的技能获得的第一手经验可以帮助你决定是否要从事健康行业)”介绍掌握急救知识对职业生涯的作用,帮助决定是否从事健康行业,因此G项“It also shows your commitment to the career in the health profession. (这也表明了你对健康职业的承诺)”符合语境,指出这也体现了对健康职业的承诺,进一步延伸其作用,和前文是递进的关系。故选G。

B.Art doesn’t have to be something that everyone understands.
C.There are actually a lot of practical uses for art for many people.
D.Art is much more accessible and is truly needed in everyday life.
E.Being able to talk about our feelings is essential to staying healthy.
F.We use art to express ourselves, showcase talent, and grow as people.
G.Whatever you like to do in your spare time, you’re probably creating art.
【答案】71.C 72.A 73.E 74.G 75.D

Practical items, such as bedspreads, furniture or clothing, are all art forms in themselves and arouse emotions in the people interacting with them.”
72.下文“History tells us what happened and when it happened, but it can’t tell us how the population at large felt about it, which is where art steps in. We know a lot about how people in the past lived and worked, because their art has given us such a deep insight into their daily lives.” 故选A。
73.上文“Most of all, we need art in our lives as it gives us a form of self-expression.” 下文“You may not think you talk about your feelings, but you may express them in other ways.”
74.上文“Some like to cook or bake, some like to work on machinery, and others may like to paint or draw.”
75.上文“So, do we need art in our lives? Many people would say no, but the art they’re thinking of is the art you see in galleries.” 上文进行设问,下文“It helps those in need, gives people in the future an idea of what life was like, and is a vital form of self-expression.”
