Unit8 How do you make a banana milk shake? Section A (2d-3c) 容县中学 农秋萍 Hello, everyone，I’m very happy to have an opportunity to talk about my teaching ideas. The lesson I am going to present is from Go for it Grade 8 unit 8 How do you make a banana milk shake? I will present my teaching plan from the following 8 aspects: the analysis of teaching material, analysis of the students, teaching objectives,the teaching methods and studying ways,teaching aids ,teaching procedures，blackboard design and teaching reflection. Ⅰ. Analysis of teaching material The topic of Unit 8 is how to make a banana milk shake.The students will be able to describe the procedure of making food by using first, next, then and finally . As for students, they have learned many vocabularies in grade 7.Students need to distinguish the countable nouns and uncountable nouns.They have known the usages of them in grade 7.So the grammar will not very difficult for them. Ⅱ. Analysis of the students As the students in Grade 8, they’ve got the basic English learning skills including reading, listening, speaking and writing after more than one year’s training. However, they still have difficulty in cooking food in the daily life and describing the process of making food in English as a result of lack of life experience. It’s a good chance for them to learn the procedure of making food by the end of the class. Ⅲ.Teaching objectives 1.Language goals: 1).To learn to distinguish between Countable nouns and Uncountable nouns. 2).To learn how much and how many questions. 3).To learn adverbs of sequence: First … Next … Then … Finally … 2.Important and difficult points: 1).Countable nouns and Uncountable nouns. 2).How much and how many questions. Ⅳ. The teaching methods and studying ways Next，I will talk about the ways of teaching and studying. I will choose the Communicative Approach and TBLT as teaching methods. Ⅴ. Teaching Aids Computer Aided Instruction and multimedia courseware. Ⅵ. Teaching procedures Now, let’s focus on the teaching procedures. Step 1 led-in As we all know, “well begun is half done.”First,I will ask students “Do you like delicious food ?Ok,let’s look for delicious food now.” And then play an English video of A Bite of China. After watching this video I will present a picture of yesterday’s recipes to do some revision. Step 2 Presentation First,I will introduce the Russian soup and ask them “Do you want to know how to make it?” Then, I will show the steps to make the soup.Next, let them try to fill in the blanks . After filling in the blanks,we will have a group work. Step 3 Group work In this step, I will let the students discuss how to make Russian soup . They should work in groups.Then each group sends a representative to make a report. After the group work ,the next step is grammar focus. Step 4 Grammar Focus I will ask students to read the sentences.Then I will summarize the usage of countable nouns and uncountable nouns,how many and how much questions. In order to let students master these usages I make out the following quick answers. Step5 practice 3a＆3b After quick answers, I will ask students to do 3a quickly. Then let students look at the pictures in 3b and complete it. Next ask them to match the questions and answers,then check the answers together. Step 6 writing 3c The activity is to give students the opportunity to use the target language.First, I give them some writing instructions and an example .Then ask them to write how to do one of the following things. Finally,invite some students to tell how to do it. Step 6 Exercises In order to consolidate the knowledge of this lesson , it’s necessary to give students some proper exercises. Step 7 Summary Words: salt,spoon ,yogurt,popcorn Sentences:How many bananas do we need? We need three bananas. How much yogurt do we need? We need one cup of yogurt. After these exercises, I will summarize this lesson. This is the home work for this lesson. Step 7 Home work 1. Revise the sentences in Grammar Focus. 2. Choose one of the things in 3c, and then write how to do it. And this is my blackboard design. Ⅶ Blackboard design Unit8 How do you make a banana milk shake? How much yogurt do we need? how many＋countable nouns how much＋uncountable nouns Ⅷ Teaching Reflection In this period,the students are familiar with the sentences in grammar focus and the usage of “how many＋countable nouns” and “how much＋uncountable nouns”．However,some students can't master well enough.After they learn the main structures in grammar focus,the students should practice in different activities.
