B Most people who ran the marathon last month spent days before resting up and days after recovering. But not Jacky Hunt-Broersma. In total, she ran 104 marathons in 104 days. If it’s confirmed by Guinness World Records, that would be a new world record. And she did it all with one leg and a prosthesis (假肢). “Someone able-bodied had done it previously. I wanted to see if I could do it on a prosthetic leg and see what would happen,” she said. “I thought it would be a great way to inspire others to push their limits because I truly believe that we’re stronger than what we think. And I’ve been so pleasantly surprised that my body is held up, everything is held up and I’ve made it to 104.” She actually did not pick up the sport until after she lost the lower part of her left leg in 2001 to a type of cancer called Ewing sarcoma. Runners using a prosthetic leg can’t use a regular one. They need a running blade (刀锋式跑步义肢). Hunt-Broersma has two, but she was only able to run with one because of the swelling she experienced in her left leg that made it impossible to connect to the other blade. But even with the pain that occurred, she has been able to put up with it and continued. All together, Hunt-Broersma ran over 4, 385 kilometers. During that time she has had a lot of time to think and has learned a few things about herself. “It has taught me how strong one can be and how important absolute determination is. If you’re mentally strong, you can do anything,” she said. “And our bodies are just amazing ... This whole journey was impressive and super hard, but it’s told me how strong I can be as a person and how far I can push myself.” 24. Why did Hunt-Broersma decide to run marathons? A. She wanted to set a new record. B. She was inspired by people like her. C. She was driven by her interest. D. She intended to challenge herself. 25. What difficulty did Hunt-Broersma meet with? A.. She suffered discomfort in her left leg. B. She found it hard to keep her balance. C. She didn’t get professional training D. She couldn’t use regular running blades. 26. What message does the author express through the story? A. Rome wasn’t built in a day. B. Nothing is impossible to a willing heart. C. A good beginning is half the battle. D. Time works wonders. 27. What may be the author’s attitude towards Hunt-Broersma? A. Admiring. B. Sympathetic. C. Annoyed. D. Humorous. C A shocking 53.6 million metric tons of electronic waste was discarded last year, a new UN-backed report has revealed. The report shows that e-waste is up by 21% from five years ago. This isn’t surprising, considering how many more people are adopting new technology and updating devices regularly to have the latest versions, but the report also shows that national collection and recycling strategies are nowhere close to matching consumption rates. E-waste contains materials including copper (铜), iron, gold and silver, which the report gives a conservative value of $ 57 billion. But most are thrown away or burned rather than being collected for recycling. Precious metals in waste are estimated to be worth $ 14 billion, but only $ 4 billion-worth is recovered at the moment. While the number of countries with national e-waste policies has grown from 61 to 78 since 2014, there is little encouragement to obey and a mere 17% of collected items are recycled. If recycling does occur, it’s often under dangerous conditions, such as burning circuit boards to recover copper, which “releases highly poisonous metals” and harms the health of workers. The report found that Asia has the highest amounts of waste overall, producing 24.9 million metric tons (MMT), followed by Europe at 12 MMT, Africa at 2.9 MMT, and Oceania at 0.7 MMT. But whose responsibility is it? Are governments in charge of setting up collection and recycling points, or should companies be responsible for recycling the goods they produce? It goes both ways. Companies do need to be held accountable by government regulations and have incentives to design products that are easily repaired. At the same time, governments need to make it easy for citizens to access collection points and deal with their broken electronics in a convenient way. Otherwise, they may turn to the easiest option — the landfill. 28. What does the underlined word “discarded” most probably mean? A. thrown away B. distributed C. increased D. consumed 29. What do the statistics in Paragraph 2 show? A. The functions of policies. B. The great damage to environment. C. The urgency of recovering e-waste. D. The change of consumption rates. 30. What is the problem with recycling e-waste at present? A. It takes too much time B. It lacks national policy support. C. It hardly makes profits. D. It does harm to the workers’ health. 31. How should the problem be solved according to the passage? A. New technology should be used to update old devices. B. Non-poisonous metals had better be used in e-device C. Governments and companies should take responsibilities. D. Citizens must play a key role in recycling e-waste. D Gifts are more than just an economic exchange of goods. They signal things about the giver, receiver and their relationship. It’s a sort of language that lets us communicate without words. Use the following little tricks to make gift-giving perfect. Aesthetics (美学) of a gift shouldn’t be ignored and neither should presentation be. All the time and energy you spend picking the perfect thing for your receiver will fall short if you do. A gift should delight. It should be unique and easy on the eyes. So receivers often prefer appearance over function. This is why gift stores are filled with such gifts. These items are often low in their usefulness yet they make most gifts. The price isn’t necessarily a priority. Even costly items can be considered as cheap sometimes. It’s better to pick an item from the top of an inexpensive sort than one at the bottom of an expensive sort. Even if you’re paying the same for both choices, the former will be received well. A gift that feels heavier tends to be considered as of higher quality. Giving someone a hardcover book is better than giving them a paperback as a gift. You may also package it in a relatively heavy box. Anyway, pick items that aren’t too light. Don’t present your gift without the wrapping (包装). It shows effort and devotion. Presentation expresses special thought on behalf of the giver. When they receive a gift, receivers process the exchange and analyze the giver in terms of thoughtfulness, which is communicated through gift presentation. If you want your receiver to think of you as thoughtful, make sure you wrap it in a good wrapping paper. Bad presentation can ruin a great gift. So it matters making a present more attractive to your receiver. 32. What kind of gifts are mostly sold in shops? A. Eye-catching items. B. Strange objects. C. Useful things D. High-cost pieces. 33. What can be learnt from Paragraph 3? A. Never choose any expensive gift. B. The more expensive a gift is, the better. C. The best gift in the cheap kind is a better choice. D. Two gifts at a time are always better than one. 34. Which book will make a good gift? A. A paperback B.. A hardcover book C. One in a light box. D. One without wrapping. 35. What does a gift with good wrapping reflect? A. The giver is generous. B. The receiver is special. C. The giver is thoughtful. D. The receiver is attractive. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 More and more people are making eco choices on the road. A new baby daughter, a job promotion (晋升) for my husband, and a new home were among what we had received. My husband and I were grateful for them. We wanted no gifts for Christmas, because our cups were running over. So my husband and I decided to teach them to learn to share. After dinner, we talked about doing something special for someone else at Christmas. Our oldest son said, “Why don’t we find a family who needs help and give them presents?” All of us were excited about the idea. We didn’t know exactly how we find our “Christmas family”, but we did know we wanted to help. The next morning I made calls to friends who might know of someone in need. That evening at dinner I described the family I had found. The father was a repairman but lost his job two weeks before. He hadn’t landed a new job yet. There were three children in the family. The wife gave birth to a new baby, who was the same age as ours. But unluckily, the baby had been taking many tests as doctors tried to determine why she wasn’t developing properly. They had spent almost all their savings on the treatment, with little for daily necessities. They were in great trouble. Of course, they had little hope of having gifts for Christmas. “Can we give them some of our clothes?” asked our daughter. We all agreed that her idea was good, and so the children ran to their bedrooms and began sorting out the clothes they had outgrown. But my husband and I knew that clothes were not enough. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 On Christmas Eve, my family went for holiday shopping.__________________________________ .______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then we were off to deliver Christmas gifts to our special family.____________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 高一5月月考答案 听力 1-5 BCACB 6-10ACABB 11-15AACBC 16-20BABCC 阅读 21-23 BDA 24-27 DABA 28-31 ACDC 32-35ACBC 36-40 FCEGA 完型 41-45 BCDAB 46-50 CAACB 51-55BDACB 56.reading 57.was inspired 58.Located 59.has received 60.to 61.which 62.the 63.Similarly 64.colorful 65.generations 66. One possible version: Environmental Protection Week An activity themed as Environmental Protection Week was launched in our school last week, which proved to be a great success. As we know, so urgent is the environmental protection that we need to raise our awareness. Therefore, our school organized many related activities. For example, a lecture was delivered by Professor Zhang, in which he exposed us to the terrible pollution by showing vivid photos and videos. Besides, in the school hall was a board where we signed our names, promising not to do anything harmful to the environment. What impressed us most was an exhibition which showed us interesting and beneficial ways of leading a low-carbon life. In a word, the activities were well-received by all students, who would like to exert their efforts on environmental protection. 67.On Christmas Eve, my family went for holiday shopping. The mall was bustling with festive decorations and cheerful music. As we strolled through the aisles, we carefully selected items for our special Christmas family. Toys for the children, warm blankets for the cold winter nights, and essential groceries to ensure they had enough to eat. The joy of giving filled our hearts as we imagined the smiles on their faces. Then we were off to deliver Christmas gifts to our special family. We arrived at their doorstep, greeted by the glow of Christmas lights and the scent of freshly baked cookies. As we exchanged heartfelt hugs and warm wishes, tears welled up in their eyes. The simple act of kindness seemed to lift their spirits, reminding us of the true meaning of the season. Together, we laughed, shared stories, and savored the warmth of companionship. In that moment, we realized that the greatest gift of all is the love we share with others. 4 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
