I recently took my family to the beautiful Chatsworth House. You might not be familiar with the name, but the house itself has been the film set for many famous movies, including Pride and Prejudice(《傲慢与偏见》) and The Duchess(《公爵夫人》).
The house itself was majestic(壮观的).It is now owned by the 12th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire but was built all the way back in the 16th century.Much of the house’s decoration(装饰) is the same as before, which looks very elegant(优雅的).But today’s owner also added their modern touches to the art and furniture(家具) throughout the house. While I was touring the house, I took many pictures of the rooms which can be seen in the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice—it is my favourite film and the reason why I was so desperate(渴望的) to visit the house!
The highlight of the day was the splendid(壮观的) garden next to Chatsworth House. You can see why someone with a love for nature would like this place. It had high-rising rocks and small ponds filled with water lilies(睡莲), not to mention many different types of trees and flowers. But the best view of the house could be seen at the Emperor Fountain, where the back of the house could be taken in full.

Last night, a school night, my 11-year-old son’s baseball team played a game that lasted until 9:30.By the time we got home and he had a quick dinner and shower, it was 10:30—an hour and a half later than the bedtime when a child who gets up at 6:30 should be going to bed.We love baseball. My son is having fun, getting exercise, and learning patience, teamwork and sports spirit. But the truth is that the game also influences his sleep.
As parents, we want good things for our children. We want them to be healthy both in body and in mind. To this end, we look for ways to help our kids grow and develop. We help them with their homework. We sign them up for dance, soccer and baseball. We encourage our kids to take honours courses(培优课程) or to have after-school jobs. And we praise them for hard-earned success and achievements. However, the irony is that all of these activities and responsibilities that we are giving our children to make their lives colourful could be badly influencing their health and taking happiness away. Activities, responsibilities, and goals are good. But if we want our kids to realise their full physical, learning and social ability, sleep is important. We have to start taking sleep seriously.
Parents make bedtime routines and carry out(执行) strict rules about night time. But in fact, these measures(措施) aren’t enough because getting our kids enough sleep isn’t just about carrying out stricter bedtime. It actually requires more than that. In order to ensure our kids get the sleep they need, both parents and schools should make an effort.

Strawberries look nice, but light pressure can make them out of shape. Nowadays, there are many young people who are just like strawberries. They easily break down when they face difficulties. They don’t know what to do when they are in trouble. They have a common name—strawberry kids.
Why are many students so easy to break down? Parents and schools are a main reason. Parents do almost everything for them in their daily life, while schools care more about their grades instead of developing their personality.
Liu Yue, 13, is from Fujian. His mum hardly criticizes(批评) him and he always feels good about himself. When a teacher criticizes him strictly, he feels surprised and sad. He begins to doubt his ability.
Students should do something to make themselves mentally strong. An expert said, “When you are in trouble, don’t ask for help too quickly. You should try to deal with problems first by yourself. I also advise you to take an active part in sports and social activities. That can make you mentally strong.”
Growing up is not just a happy process(过程).Pains also go along with it.The most important thing is to face the pains bravely and learn from them.

A guideline on labour education came out recently in order to help more students of different ages to develop labour habits. As a middle school student, I welcome it warmly.
As a middle
school student, I welcome it warmly.
I usually do housework at home, such as washing clothes, sweeping the floor, cooking meals and so on. I think they can help me learn life skills. At school, I take part in the activities like planting trees, collecting litter or cleaning the playground. They are good for both our health and the environment. In my opinion, we should have labour classes to learn some basic life skills at school once or twice a week.
All in all, we should try to develop good labour habits and value the importance of labour through our labour experiences.
